I like Molkara's analisys very much!

It's cute how he calls physical battles "bezan-bezan!"
I keep picturing our plyers and the opposition punching each other out in brawl, then I remember what he means and I change my mental picture!!

I hope all those who think we are going to breeze past Iraq watch this. Spot on as always by Mehran.
        Team Meli Iran
        Perspolis FC
        Malavan Bandar Anzali

I somewhat disagree with Mehran that we are weak in our counter attacks. He should go and watch Iran - Argentine match and see how devastating our counter attacks are. many of our counter attacks end in set pieces like corners and free kicks from around the box. How can one forget the two Ando's corners that led to Hajsafie and Shojaei goals against Bahrain. How can one forget that devastating tackle by Ando and the consequent pass by Ashkan which led Azmoon to score that beautiful goal against Qatar. UAE was afraid of TM attacking line so much so that they hold the ball as much as they could wasting time playing anti soccer (instead of grass rolling) simply because they were afraid of losing the ball to TM lions attacking them. The idea that TM attacking tacktics are weak is nonsense to me.

I predict a very hard fought match vs. Iraq and a 1-0 win for Iran

Has any one any idea why he thinks AF will play instead of Azmoun or Gucci?
I agree with him about physical battles. He forced me to see Iran Iraq game
once again. Per average Iraqi players are physically stronger. But I don't think
their technical advantage if any will cause us problems. They can't be technically
              better than UAE.
He forgot to mention our best advantage which is a better coach. CQ will tell our player
              how to play against Iraq

as long as we, the fans, fail to distinguish between what's a goal off a ''rehearsed move'' and a goal off an opponent's mistake/lapse or a loose ball , we'd be making up stories to fit our wishes only.

We seem to count moments of fortune into ''rehearsed moves'' category! ... without thinking what if that loose ball or ricochet or bounce had gone slightly off or what if the opponent's player didn't make the mistake.

Those are extremely different issues with extremely different probability percentages.

It still amazes me that people who are supposedly providing "expert" commentary, don't even know what formation we're playing!!!

Iran played a 4-1-4-1 in a single game and that was the friendly against Korea (and a weak argument can be made for the Iraq game, although that was more because of the inexperience of our "B" team and chaos than by choice!). Otherwise, all our competitive matches have been a classic 4-2-3-1!!!

It's understandable if someone gets this wrong for games where player movements are not being tracked, but not when 6 out of our last 8 games have been in tournament settings and so much data is available on the position and movement of every single player.

it's just lazy not to look that up when all it takes is 2 minutes to at least look up the average positions in each game.

As always good observation. I always though we play 4-2-3-1. UAE tried it's best to face Iraq instead of Japan since they know Iraq is beatable.

We can improve a lot in counter attacks, they are not as effective as we wish them to be, if they were, we could easily be ranked much more dangerous in Asia, simliar to Atletico Madrid in Europe. Although I must say I was kind of impressed by our counters in the game vs Iraq, that was one of the few times I saw us actually counter with like 4 players going up, and very very quickly, which left the opponent chasing really on their toes, I guess it also might be because these other teams didn't have their defensive line as high up as Iraq does, which Molkara also mentioned something about.

He always provides good analysis of TM.

I'm really glad that we decided to keep Carlos and I hope that we will keep him even after the Cup regardless of the results. Continuity is what we are really lacking.

Nah... our counter attacks are not good enough!
When was the last time we scored from an open play counter attack?
Oh, against Uzbekistan in Tashkent and in Seul Korea!

We can feel confident that we will keep a clean sheet these days than actually scoring.
And it is really hard to believe that luck was not part of our goal-scoring routine lately!

                              I agree with him.

Just because the team is formed and shaped up to be a defensive squad with counter attack on their mind, doesn't mean they are doing it correctly and efficiently.

We are too slow in transition to be dangerous on counter attacks. We did see glimpses of our potential against Argentina in some instances but even those instances had very little direct, on-goal opportunities.

I think we have some fast players that we can use to speed up our transition (i.e. Jahanbakhsh instead of Shojaei, etc.) but it's a give and take.
