Japan wins World Baseball Classic again!

the half iranian darvish pitcher of Japan played a big role and striked out all the big guns of the Korean hitters and it went to extra innings where Darvish again kept his cool to pitch and hand the win over in this final!!!

Is baseball more popular than football in Japan?

Id be surprised if baseball isnt the # 1 sport in japan, guys like ichiro and daisuke are huge names..heck it would probably cost 50+million just to negotiate with darvish!

Unfortunately the Japanese didn't invent the game of baseball, nor are they better than the Americans...it so happens that most of the top american players turned the opportunity to play in the WBC because of injury fears and a lack of desire to play in this newly organized tournament...the two cy young award winners Cliff Lee and Tim Lincecum both turned down the US for this very reason, otherwise you can bet that they would have beaten Japan or Korea rather handily with their full squad...as for Darvish he appears to be a very promising player, but he has a history of off the field behavior that has and can affect his play on the field when he comes to the bright lights and extra pressure of the MLB...not to mention the superior talent of major league hitters....the japanese players pricetags are highly overrated and overhyped because their star players appear better than they are playing against triple AAA talent in the japanese leagues (with a few exceptions such as Ichiro and to a much lesser extent Dice-K). That being said Darvish looks to be a player who will benefit handsomely from this flawed system if he plays his cards right....but his stuff does not seem to be overpowering even though his repertoire of pitches are pretty good for his age....I see him as a future #2 or #3 rotation type pitcher if he maximizes his potential with possibly a few all-star appearances to boot...if he goes to a club with a great offense, his stats will be even better than expected (i.e. yankees, red sox, mets...)
