Queiroz names 23-man squad for South African camp
Persianfootball.com – TEHRAN, Iran coach has named an almost purely domestic squad for the upcoming training camp in South Africa.
Sardar Azmoun of Rubin Kazan is the only available legionnaire, while the rest of the European, Persian Gulf and MLS based players will be available for the later stages of Asian Cup preparations.
As usually, the list includes some surprises, such as the inclusion of veteran playmaker Iman Mobali, Padideh defender Mohammad Nejadmehdi or Rah Ahan attacker Masoud Hassanzadeh.
There is still some confusion around Iran’s friendly match opposition in South Africa. Some African nations, including the host country, as well as Honduras and some clubs have been rumoured to be willing to play Iran.
Certain is that Iran will host Palestine in Tehran on December 28 and meet Iraq in Sidney on January 4, before kicking off the Asian Cup versus Bahrain exactly a week later.
