Esteghlal coach denies Behnam Barzay move to Getafe
Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Esteghlal football club head coach Parviz Mazloumi has denied Behnam Barzay move to Spanish side Getafe due to the way the La Liga side wanted the player.
Getafe football club has invited Barzay for a one month trial spell at the club in order to test the player’s abilities so that they can decide whether to sign him.
But Parviz Mazloumi has rejected this offer and stated the Spanish club should have contacted the club directly.
“If Getafe wants him, it should contact the [Esteghlal] club, not the player. They want to test him over the course of three weeks, which is impossible for us,” Mazloumi told reporters.
However Barzay also stated that he will not leave Esteghlal without the coach’s permission.
“Every player wants to play in Europe one day and I am no exception, but Esteghlal is a great team and if the coach doesn’t let me go, I’ll stay here,” Barzay told reporters.
The 22-year old striker joined Esteghlal on a two-and-a-half-year contract in Febraury 2015. He was part of Iran U–20 during 2012 AFC U-19 Championship qualification, 2012 AFF U-19 Youth Championship and 2012 AFC U-19 Championship.
He has scored 6 goals in 18 appearances for Iran’s U-20 team and 7 goals in 12 appearances for U23 team.
