I think we are in the best possivble group.
We can beat any of these teams - including Portugal - if we can find someone to dismantle man U's Ronaldo (is that his name ?). I would make my game plans aroud 10 players and sacrifice a "Kaneh" style player on him the whole 90 minutes against Portugal.

It's important to know we can beat any of them - yet we must know we can also be killed against Potugal - but not against Mexico. We must have specific plans against each one of them.

let's win the division. why keh not ? what do we have to lose ?

Portugese tend to self destruct half way through a match when they see they're not getting the expected goals... they self destruct, and self destruct terribly... they're even worse than us in that compartment!..

So, I'm sure if we manage to stop them in the first half, then chances are we can pull off a tie or even a win against them.

Mexico on the other hand plays an "all out assault" type of a game. they fight right from the start to the end... so we gotta duke it out with the Mexicans and hope they fall short physically ...

Angola.. well, if this team is anywhere near Togo, then Angola will be a "walk over" for the other three.. it will be very important that we manage to score as many goals as possible against Angola, I'm sure it'll get to that...

The good news is we play Angola last, so by then we exactly know how many goals we need to score...

Well I think Iran got one of the better groupings out there. We tend to struggle against the deciplined play of European sides and we only have one in our group. As mentioned above, Mexico try to emulate the style of South American sides which means attack. Iran will definitely be favored against Angola who is more or less an unknown for now.

I think the Mexico game will give us an indicator of our confidence going forward. Beating Mexico will be a tall order, out of the other seven top seeds, Mexico would be the one we have the best chance against.

Portugal will be a challenge, but the golden generation is no longer at its prime and compared to many other Euro sides, Iran will be able to compete well against them.

Get 2 or 3 points in the first two games and go all out to get a big victory in the finally and a second round spot will be a reality for us.

I doubt we'd get such an opportunity to advance, again.
while portugal and maxico are very formidable, but they are NOT invincible like holland, brazil, .... .
they have had slip ups before in their WCQ's.
and frankly, we could have been in a far worse situation than this.
just ask serbia or japan.

so now that we have been given such an opportunity, we must milk it for all its worth.
as we say, az khoda barekat, az to harekat.

with a mediocre mentality and conservative approach, we will NOT get anywhere.
what branko has done ( or actually been INCAPABLE of ) in the past year leaves too many holes in our armor for us to be content with this situation.

he either changes his attitude and shapes up, or steps aside, for a better man ( luxemburgo ? ) to utilize and exploit this not-so difficult group to our benefit.

we are given this chance.
is it too much to ask if we demand the absolute BEST out of everything we have?
....... the most and farthest we can push our limits to benefit from this chance?
....... to leave NO stone un-turned.
....... to make sure we use every litle inch, every little gram and the very last penny we have to make sure we go at OUR MAXIMUM?

have we seen our maximum under branko during the last year and half?
what does the trend show us?

why waste this chance?
who knows ... maybe the next time ( whenever it may be ... especially since australia is in asia now !!! ) we'd get a group like serbia's !!
wouldnt we rue this day that we wasted on a mediocre mentality and conservative mind?

and frankly, mrclick's self-destruct theory is imminently usable , if we have the right tactics and players.

and angola's INEXPERIENCE ( key word here ) can be their undoing.
and we may yet defeat them through this factor.

Good post Doctor jaan, I fully agree.

We should adopt an aggresive strategy and go for 9 points. We should give it everything we have so we can look back and be proud of our effort rather than feeling shame for what could have been if we were just a bit more tenacious.

Branko needs to fix up the holes in our team or step out of the way. Its the only honourable thing to do.

I would have much prefered the France group. In that group we would have had a serious shot at second round iN this group we are still lucky as we got the second best draw...

I am sorry but now is the time to change Branko and get an all out aggressive guy that wants to go places and do things witht hsi team...I vote to keep Branko and add a great one on top of him...that would be our best bet...
