Statistically speaking, we did not get an easy group.

Portugal is the second best team in Europe and Mexico showed its true classs in the Conf. Cup.

But in reality, I think we got a fairly easy group. We do have the potential to at least tie Mexico and Portugal and beat Angola.

My personal prediction is 2 draws and 1 loss though.

Second best team in Europe? After who? So amongst England, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Holland, Croatia, Swden and Ukrain, Portugal is second best. It could be their 2-2 draw against Liechstenstein that shot them up through the rankings

The first game has TREMEDNOUS importance, if we tie Mexico, we will go to the 2nd round, if we lose to Mexico, we are done.

I am sorry but now is the time to change Branko and get an all out aggressive guy that wants to go places and do things witht hsi team...I vote to keep Branko and add a great one on top of him...that would be our best bet...

fact 1- south american (brazilian) coach for portugal.

            aaaaahhhhhhhhhhh,

so if we had Mochaleh, you would want him changed immediately

So much for consistency. So much for all the campaign for a 'better' coach. So much for belief in one's own choice.

            heh heh heh heh

Credibility on the slide it seems

What now? Get a Brazilian or Portugese coach for the game with Portugal after we have decided between a Mexican and an Argentinian coach for our first game?

Then we should get the best coach in the world for our last game - with Angola - who just as coincidence would have it, is an Angolan

Great, we could have 5 coaches in the space of 10 days and once we advance unbeaten with max points we can choose between a Dutch or another Argentinian coach.

Oooh, I love fighting fire with fire looooooooooo

1- macala , any day is better than branko.
look at oman and how they tortured us.... considering the poor material he had to work with.
imagine if he has karimi, kia, nekounam, rahman, mobaali, borhani.... at his disposal !!!!
and he has been a HEAD COACH for a long tme.
he knows our football and players.
              he is within our budget.

my "fight fire..." comes only after seeing our group teams.
and yes, if we manage to get LUXEMBURGO, I would be extremely happy and satisfied.

2- ppl who act like little girls and gossip & talk behind others shd think twice before saying things about "credibility".
( dont even bother with "I object" routine.
this time, it's not going to work, as I now know all that is one-sided and hypocritical.

Again, Aaahhhh, the attempts of a desperate drowining man clutching at straws.

Mr DD, I did not reply to your incoherent ramble in that post because I did not even know how you related the topics. What is next? Are you going to relate the fall of the Roman Empire to Branko and then accuse me for not being there to help the Persian army against Alexander?

Start making sense like how you once did and stop breathing in your own gaaz e bihooshi

Anyway, I have better things to do at the moment.

We can beat Mexico and Portugal, but we will really need some technical players like Mobali at hand who can do lot's of play-making, take direct kicks and corners and specially ball control is extremely important. Both Mexicans and Portuguese have very good ball control skills. I can see Kaabi and Karimi in the current squad matching up with them, but Daie, Nekounam or Nosrati?? I don't think so !!!!!!

By the way Kaabi has a chance to compete for the best young player award:

Also Daie can go for the Golden Boot :-]

I thaink along the same lines as DD, Perspolees and Paradigm. We need to get agressive. If we leave things to Branko - he is going to play five defenders against Mexico - hoping for a tie !! that would be a recipe for disaster. We are in the big dance - so let's rumble. What the hell is with the Tarsoo attitude ? I can see Branco starting Rezaii, Kaabi, Yahya, Alavai, and Nosrati - all in one defensive line exhibiting an anti football. I rather we lose 3 games than getting a couple of ties playing 90 minutes of defense !! we will be eliminated with the 2 points too. As Perspolees said we need to get aggressive - Get an aggressive coach or order Branco to be aggressive - he works for us - and god knows when we will be in a WC again.
I also liked what Paradigm says about technical players - I would start both Mobali and Oladai inplace of Nosrati and Daei. i would look for the fatsest and most technical players we have in IPL to complement the core of our team.
As for friendlies - we are faced against Latin and African football (even Portugal plays latin style football) - so let's plan friendlies against latin and African football.

I think you should do some research before talking so much. Macala did good with Oman because he had the team in his disposal for two years. This Omani team had the same players since they were U17. The league in Oman is almost non existant and their national team was trained as a club (Talk about Stability).

In Al-Ain the fans and the media talk about changing Macala. They say his tactics and trainning methods are outdated.

I would ask mrgood to look at the direction of the statement:
                              being capable.

I dont think even u would deny he had done wonders with oman's team.

he had them for 2 yrs?
( first I doubt all of them were available all the time, as oman ( yes even oman ) does have a league , contrary to what u try to portray.

also some of their players do play outside oman in other gulf leagues.

and in 2 yrs, he transformed a bunch of no hopers of a third rate asian football nation, intoa team that scared the living crap out of japan and almost beat both Iran and japan !!

another coach, after 5 yrs, and after having a bunch of asian all stars, comes up with a team that has deficiencies coming out of its holes everywhere !!

hmmm..... 2 yrs that, 5 yrs this.
                              tough decision !!

                              ------------

and the gulf fans said this and that?
                              heh !
instead of going by what gulf fans say, I would rather trust my own eyes and see how his teams have played.

but to each his own. you are perfectly within ur rights to follow what arab fans say.

the same arab fans who hire and fire top coaches on weekly basis.
never allowing for the fact that it is THEY, who dont have the quality to support the coaches' efforts.
as proof of this, you may read the NAMES of these coaches.

First of all I did not say that Oman has no league? The Omani federation used to assemble the national team two month before any tournament. they did not care much about their league. Omani league is the weekest league compared to the UAE, KSA, or the Qatari leagues, it is even weeker than the Bahrain league.

Their club teams do not participate even in the AFC cup where teams from Libanon, Bangeladesh,... play.

Oman had only a couple of players, playing abroad. the rest were playing inside oman. Most of their players got external contracts after the AC.

This Omani National team was assembeled as a U17 team long time ago, the same players have been playing together for a very long time, even before Macala coached them.

The irony is that you are a fan also and you are belittleing some fan's opinion.
The point is that These fans follow their teams day and night and you have not watched more than a couple games of alain. Did you see how Pas owned AlAin. Did you see how Al-Ittehad owned AlAin.
Do you know whom did Macala coach before Oman and what did he achived with them? Macala was a coach of Kuwait NAtional team and KSA national team before and he failed to produce any decent results. Dont tell me that Oman has better players than KSA?

Sometimes I wonder if you watch football at all?
