In terms of direct kicks, to be perfectly honest, the only one I can think of is Zandi's against Azerbaijan. I don't recall any others, except for a couple Daei made a while back.

As for Mihailovic, he is the greatest free-kick specialist I've seen in my time. He cannot be compared to anyone in that aspect. Defensively? He wasn't good at all, but it wasn't like he was a huge liability either.

I completely disagree with the notion you present of "dependability", because our free-kick takers are far more than just dependable. This is not a matter of "we need improvement in this area", it's a matter of "we have something amazing, but we could make it better" - and frankly, there are many different areas in TM that need improvement, far more than our free-kicks, direct or indirect.

      "amazing"?

WHO is even NEAR "amazing" in brano's list in direct freekicks?

and as for "dependable", I was being rather generous and kind.
      it's more like "bokhor o namir" !

      ---------

yes mihailovic wasnt scoring goals against his own team regularly.
      but so what?
mobaali or kazemian also bring a whole lot of other attributes to the team.

it's not as if these two cant do jack, except take spot kicks !

        Finally - we agree.

That's exacty it. I'd rather have Mobali and Kazemian in TM due to their many other abilities.

          huh?

faraz jan, did you read what I wrote earlier?
I am talking about having a player with GOOD accuracy & % in DIRECT ( and indirect ) freekicks in the team, that is ( oh, yes, believe me ) in DIRE need of one.

( what else he [they] brings to the table is also pretty nice, as well )

            so then we don't agree...haha...

Please, do explain to me how we are in "dire" need of one? How many direct free-kicks has TM attempted on goal in the past 5 matches? Who took all of them, and what was the success rate?

If we get these facts straight, then we can continue. We are both making assumptions out of thin-air. I personally don't think we are in "dire" need of a freekick specialist. I think one reason why we haven't seen more of them go in is due to Daei's persistance of taking each and every one. Please search for stats of WHO has taken HOW MANY direct freekicks in the last 10 games, and then we can make these claims.

actually faraz jan, YOU shd answer the above Q's to arrive at my point.

also while doing that, do consider the difference between portugal and n korea, mexico and bahrain, ....

also TM's inability to score goals against third rate teams like the above or macedonia's B team, or togo's B team, or ... , in open-play.

By the same token, I could say, please consider the difference between Portugal and Saba Battery, or Mexico and Perspolis. True?

I am not sure, if what I am about to mention here is appropreate for this thread.....yet.....
We all have seen, most if not all our players, TM or clubs, when it come to that last secound oppertunity to finish ,and score the gole, they all miss the target !!!I am sure, you recall such ocations more than you care to remmember......which, I also remmember Branko also once mentioned the poor kick accurecy by Iranian players,is due to the lack of good surface of the fields, and more over, this phenomina, has cuased a epidemic, and all players in Iran have gotten used to this, and never realy get a set idea as what constitues a accurate kick !!!!
Therefore,,,,,the better Lawn industry and grass management is deffenetly, along with other shortcommings of our football must be in order !!!!!

zz jan, it is ok to mention our poor finishing.

as it is this very same poor finishing that has put us in DIRE NEED of "making the most out of set plays".

coz god knows how often our defensive minded and defensively arranged team is going to get a chance to score during open-play !!!!!!!!

and even when we do create chances, the way we have squandered such chances due to lack of attacking tactics, and finishing, we can only guess that scoring thru openplays is not going to get us very far !!!

I had this up a few weeks ago.

                      http://persianfootball.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=19408

I'd like to see Mobali given a chance as a starter, not only because there is no better free kick taker in Iran than Mobali but also because of everything else which he brings to the table.

                      1. Direct free kick placement. No one in Iran can match his placement not even Zandi. Zandi has scored one free kick for us. Other than that the rest of his direct free kicks were either right at the goalie or easily saved. Mobali can curl it and places the ball where it's quite difficult for even the best goalkeeper in the world to save.

                      2. He is physically strong and it's quite difficult to steal the ball from him. Therefore alike Karimi and Kia he will draw free kicks for us from our oppositions.

                      3. He is a great distributor of the ball. He passes with accuracy.

                      4. He knows how to create space for other teammates.

                      5. He knows how to cross the ball from the right or the left flank into the 18 like few can in Iran.

I certainly hope that there is no truth in Daie asking Branko to leave Mobali off the TM roster. I highly doubt that a pro and the captain of our NT, one who so many in Iran Idolize would do such a thing, I don't buy it.

If he did such a thing and Branko actually listened, than shame on Branko for leaving the most talented Youth Iran has developed in years out of the roster just because he was asked.

I actually don't think that Mobali is out of the TM roster. I think that Branko did not invite him to the last couple of friendlies so he could invite others that he may have wanted to test.

Let's face it we will draw quite a few fouls at the WC, now if half of these fouls result in direct free kicks than who better to take the short distance free kicks than Mobali.
Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted the indifference of those who should have known better the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most that has made it possible for evil to triumph.

He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.
