    Galenois options against Korea

Now that TM have qualified for Asian cup, Ghalenoee
can relax and have the luxury of takig one of the
following approaches for the team to send to Azadi.

1-Send a team completely from domestic players
    pros:
-There will be a lot less pressure on the team and GN
as without full force, even a loss can be justified
and the coach admired for taking a bold step.
-GN can come out as a genius if he wins and if he loses
it won't look bad as he says he was experimenting and
    did not have full force.
-Lots of hope to domestic players that they will have
a real shot at joining TM if they perform.
-The much needed International Cap (IC) for players involved
-Some of our EU players can rest and don't feel
obligated to join and risk injury for a meaningless game.
-In the time left, he can have a full domestic squad practice
GNs lineup together and be ready.

    cons:
-Some EU based players who need the IC or the
visibility depending on how they are doing for their club
by then, will feel left out.

2-Send our A team (which includes all 5 of our European based
    players).
    pros:
-Just about the only reason would be to try some new formation
with domestic players who have not played with the EU players.
    Not strong enough reason IMO.

    cons:
-Reluctant EU based players who may feel they are called to
play for TM even when it is not necessary.
    -What will we learn
-Hopeful domestic players would be disappointed for not
    getting a chance.
-If TM does less than a draw, it will give fuel to GN detractors
to bash him until Asia cup, since already Korea is said to
be sending their Omid team, and losing to their B team with
our A team would look like a big step back.
-Would show huge lack of creativity and imagination by GN.

3-Make pariticpation for European based players optional, but
with the knowledge they may not even play:

    pros:
-This will automatically give a much needed break to players
who need a break and insures the players who show are healthy
    and ready.
-GN would have the most flexibility in putting the team together
and can sub any player in or out, as the participation was
optional. Even if all EU players say they want to play, since
it was optional for the to join, GN can elect not to let them
play or sub them out based on overall team readiness.

    cons:
    Can not think of any.

In Nekounam and Teymourian's absence, GN should build the team in the center field around Mobali and Shojaie. Then deploy Kazemian and Nikbakht to the right and left respectively.

        Third option indeed sounds best.

I'm sorry aziz, but that really doesn't make sense. You demand two offensive midfielders to replace our two defensive midfielders against an Asian topside.

Apart from the fact that I'm not a big fan of any of the two suggested players (although I hope at least Shojaei might still develop and become an option again in 1 or 2 years, I rate him simply useless at this time!), you must realize that we'll need at least one, if not two, defensive mids against Korea. A midfield with four or even five offensive mids would be complete suicide!

              our full "A" squad.

hmmmmm, apparently GN has already decided in the above options and wants to go with
the A team, according to front page afc interview:
                http://www.persianfootball.com/pfdcn...3684833834.htm

AFC home page, have not specified the draw procedure for 2007 games, only that the
top 2 teams in the qualification + 4 host countries will be in it. This begs the question
what motivates Mr.GN to get our A team, when he in the article talks about the risk of
injury to our European players and the implication it has for them? Also the fact that
players are released only 72 hours prior to game and not a whole lot of time is left for
                practice.

Another point is that as we saw none of the EU teams allowed their Iranina player who played in Taipe to play this week (not sure if Mehdi played or not). That's because they
figured the player is too tired.
That should tell Mr.GN something about the soundness of his decision to send the
A squad to Azadi. If we win there is little to brag but if we lose .....

I am really curious how EU based players feel about this, or will those who want to
                bail, will learn from Hashemian.
