ird jan, we cant base the assumption of GN succeeding against top asian teams with superior coaching, on his performance against teams like syria, uae, taiwan, korea's reserves, ... .

In fact, the only time he was truly tested was IN korea, where we were dominated by the koreans and somehow, by the skin of our teeth and for one individual's persistence & brilliance, we drew the game.
Yes, we were all happy and shd be too.
but that shd not cloud our judgement.

If you and some others think GN is good enough for the asia cup, then you shd have considered THAT tournament is not the easy qualifiers we dealt with recently.

    the teams come FULLY PREPARED.
it's a DO OR DIE situation, where no team will take things easy.
FULL SQUADS will be playing the games.
the coaches, who are far more experienced than GN, use ALL their knowledge, facilities, tricks, schticks, tactics, ... to win each and every game.

We're not going to meet teams like syria or taiwan.
apart from the 4 hosts who will be rather easy teams for the rest, the remainder of the teams are usually good to powerful ones.

remember, the japanese , saudis and aussies are there, along with the koreans.
so plz dont compare apples and little dried up figs.

THIS is exactly the mistake a lot of ppl made by persisting with branko for the WC :
his record against piss poor teams like laos, panama, lybia, n korea, ... when we were going to face strong opposition like mexico and portugal !
How some freinds defended a set of NUMBERS to justify his presence, and totally ignored the tremendous disparity in standards of our pre-WC oppositions with that of the WC group !
and we saw how that ended up.

      here is the point.

we didnt get the draw (only) because of individual skills! it was because of GN's tactical changes he made during the game (giving hashemian and mahdavikia support >>>pressure).
we all have to give GN some credit for this game. in that game he acted right from the first till the last minute.

and I wouldnt say we were dominated. when you play away against such a team, in such a stadium, you let the opponent make the game first.

also TM was always in control of the situation.

in that game, which was his only real test till now, GN showed his strenghts
