After watching the PP and Bayern game...
Ma'adanchi can be FANTASTIC as a left back! He seemed good defensively, but even when he poured forward, his speed and technique seemed too good for even Sagnol - a man rumoured to be transferred to Italian GIANTS Juventus! Even if we don't want him as a left-back (he may be a little too offensive) he may be an excellent left-winger as well, which would help him conserve his energy, as he wouldn't have to cover in defence and attack at the same time.
As for Kazemian - he was excellent. There is no way around it. The fact that Kazemian was not included in the recent squad is very surprising, especially due to the fact that Kavianpour (who also had a decent game) was called up.
Mehrdad Oladi - Parvin needs to teach this kid a lesson. His childish behaviour and attitude serve no purpose, and its a waste of talent! He did not release the ball once, got fouled many many times (in areas where if the ball was taken away from him, persepolis would have been in serious danger), and got a yellow for DIVING...in a FRIENDLY, which is perhaps one of the most embarassing parts of the match, along with Ma'adanchi's poor professionalism. He is a great talent, that is for sure, but he needs to work with a coach who can discipline him into a player that optimizes his skill in situations where the TEAM needs it. He is selfish, and until he grows up, does not belong anywhere NEAR TM.
Moving from the players to the team tactics and play, it was noticeable that Persepolis' speed had increased and the players seemed very energized. The reason for this? Very simple - all the Persepolis players were HIGHLY motivated, perhaps more so than they've ever been in their league matches. Parvin needs to motivate his team the same way they got motivated for the Bayern match, and they could be invincible in the IPL. It is shocking that Persepolis lie so low in the table after the beautiful (sometimes unlucky, and sometimes lucky) match they played. The had some very nice sequences of fluid movement, one touch passing, and optimizing the use of the wings.
In terms of weaknesses, the only weakness I really saw was when the ball was crossed in. It seems the defence and the goalie completely had lapses of concentration every single time the ball was crossed in. Actually, half the time, the Persepolis defence would not even look up to see where the opposition was when the ball was put into the box! Ballack was left WIDE open and scored a classic Ballack header, which killed a lot of the momentum.
All in all, being a fan of Esteghlal, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the match, and only hope that Persepolis makes this year's IPL ending more dramatic. If they continue being motivated as such, and play to the level that they did play, anything is possible.
Well done to the boys in red.
Now moving from Persepolis to TM, there are many things that Branko has gained from this match:
a) Some of the IPL players in Persepolis thoroughly deserve their chance in TM. Ma'adanchi sticks out the MOST as a possible candidate for left-back or left-wing.
b) Some of the IPL playes consistenty stood above Bayern's players! Kazemain vs Lucio/Ismael - Kazemain (sorry for the childish language) OWNED the 2 of them.
c) MOTIVATION!!!!!!
There is nothing that can bring out the best in a team other than motivation. If TM becomes this motivated in the WC, I believe we can hope for a very successful campaign! The issue now is, will Branko give those who shined or will shine in the future camp a true chance to replace a 1st team squad member?
Just for the record - I thought Ma'adanchi was far more effective than a player like Zandi on that left side, and was so confident and consistent in his play. If only he adjusts his attitude, he may be quite the asset.
One last note:
All of what I have said applies to this ONE game. Hence, my judgement can be skewed here or there; however, keeping in mind that this was BAYERN - I think it is fair to say that PP players did exceptionally well.
