Have you guys actualy stood in the middle of " DARVAZEH ", ?
The Goal is " HUGE " !!, its so much distance to cover...even if you jump toward one side, your hand will not reach the post .
here is what I recommand, to a keeper :

A= try to Ice the kicker by talking to him.
B=at the last secound, jump ahead and get closer to the kicker.( although illegal)
C=try to go to the opposite side of what the kicker is pretending to go.
D=deflect the ball with the fist,and do not try to grab the ball.
F= preferebly, wear an unusal T-shirt, like what Campos, ex-goal keeper of mexico,used to wear...a T-shirt with colorful,and punky design, .whic also distracts the kicker.
G= keep track of what previouse kicker did, and try to read the mind of new kicker.
H=Yell !! at the last moment.

I doubt any keeper tries to "grab" the ball in penalties.
therefore, if you open up and extend ur fingers, you increase ur reach by that much.

maybe if the GK has a tee with a naked Liz Hurley , huh?
that ought to distract the kicker ..... the ref, the ass ref, half of you team, most of the opponents and a couple of commentators

or your "yell" option: the GK can suddenly yell "Yo moma" ( in front of thousands of spectators and millions of TV audience ) !!!!!!!!
that ought to fcuk up the kicker's mood for a day or two.
( and if the ref asks him why he said that, the GK can say he was "praying to his own moma. that's all !" )

yea, but most european GKs are taller than 188cm, so if they dive to one side with arms full stretched and with the jumps they do, they can reach almost reach the goal post!!
GKs like vander sar and toldo who are 197cm and 196cm, they only need to lie on the ground

so u remember dimitrio albertini's unique style of taking only 1 or 2 steps behind the ball and shooting it unlike other players who take some distance from the ball before shooting it.
