well, the mentality for the knock-out stage shd be very different from a group stage match.

in group stage, a coach always has some leeway, in terms of compensating for lost points in follow-up games or other teams doing us a favor ( uzbeks did ). so a coach may get a bit bold and risk or experiment and still, live to either regret it or learn from it.
but in the knock-out stage, it is just like a final match.
    do or die.

so while GN has been doing acceptably in the group stage, his TRUE TEST starts on sunday.

no room for risks. no room for experimentation.
I beleive if GN makes a few changes to his starting line up, we may get through.
one of GN's experiments has been zandi in the left back.
while zandi has done ok, he hasnt been really dependable or reliable there.
both chinese & uzbeks exposed us in that area.
koreans are far more intelligent and technical than both these two teams. their players are more pro & mature and that will be really FELT by us.

shd he persist with his experiment?
    I say NO.
the first thing is get a DEPENDABLE defense, which means using a proper DEFENDER in that post.

the second issue is ; to win a game, a team must have a plan to score. this is facilitated by a play-maker. not a def mid or ... .
we MUST have a play-maker in the starting line up.
if karimi isnt able to pull up his socks, then I say Shojayi is our best option.

but inclusion of this player shd not be at the cost of WIDTH for the team. we MUST have two mids on either side who can play on the wing and add width to our team, in both defense and offense.

the importance of getting the STARTING LINE UP right is that the team can play their optimal football for 90 minutes, rather than the present 45 minutes !
yes, GN has got the required results by making changes in second halves. but this means we have WASTED a whole 45 minutes to do something that we want more comfortably.

getting a win in a 45 minutes (usually coming from behind) is MUCH TOUGHER ON THE PLAYERS MENTALLY & PHYSICALLY, than getting a win in 90 minutes.
so it is imperative that we dont put the team under unnecessary pressure and tension . especially since koreans are far more dangerous than chinese or uzbeks.
we may fight back against the latter two. but the former team is a different team altogether.

with such minimal "tweaks" in the team, I beleive we can get through.
so yes. we certainly HAVE the capability to win this game.

      Guys,
You see part of the game is exactly this. The whole mental side of the game. If you play competetive sport and you won't beleive you really can win, of course you won't. Next time you watch a competetive sport watch the athelete who comes in, look at his/her body language. That would tell you a lot. Remember Ando in the world cup. Compare him to Khatibi. What is the difference? Desire, self confidence. I am telling you, if Khatibi just had that, self confidence, he is one of the best forward in Iran. But when he plays in TM, he lacks that, See how hurried his passes are. How he forces his shots the whole 9 yards.

If you go in with fear like this, you will loose for sure. It is amazing. I am going to sound like this god damn life caoches in San Francisco area who charge you money and give you all kind of advises. Beleive in ourselves. The god damn Koran lost 2-1 to Bahrain and barely beat Indonasia 1-0. What is all this fear?

Too much pedar bozrog talk here. You guys are making me feel too old and too wise. Smack both of you one day when I see you.

At this stage no strategy, no tactic nothing can change, all our team needs 28 hours before the game is SELF CONFIDENCe. Fans attitude is an indication of the team attitude.

For god sake look at Iraq, war, civil war, 17 years of sanctions and shit and their team come and play and still manage to win. Why are we less than those guys. God damn Ala and his negative shit.

Chin up. Chest out, suck in the gut, Confident. That is more like it.
