I dont disagree at all with you on the need for that crucial first fundamental step of educating our ppl. and setting up proper basics for the football.
    absolutely right.

but, unlike you, I may be a bit pessimistic after having seen how all these very important fundamentals get overlooked & ignored year after year at IRI.
so I gather you still hold some hope and see some sign that our officials may/will attend to our infrastructural needs and will build our football from root up.
then you are an optimistic & fortunate man.
I'm not so optimistic. based on what I've seen in the past nearly 30 years of IRI !

ddjan, like you I am a poetic lover of our football and tm.

I see no other way of really one day sitting next to my kids or even grand kids and actually watching a strong contender Iran go against the giants and actually have a shot at it all....other than setting the fundamentals and taking it to fruition....in 1980 Turky turned pro and set the stones right with all the infrastructure, etc..in 2004 they did what they did!! we can do it faster cause we are a lot more talented but we still need to do the do ..

the only SURE way of getting rich, is getting rich slowly...we need to do the do before we can enjoy the trophies...

and I agree with you that IRI and what it stands for is a major block but look at what the same regime and within the same regime have done to our Volleyball and Basketball!! for the past 20 years they are at it with standardized leagues, great youth level plans and exceptional visionaries and coaches that have taught our youngsters right ..

the recipe fr success has been out for xillion of years...we are not gonna go rahe sad sale dar yek shab..I wish we could but for you and I to sit and agree that our tm held its chin up and played football these stones are critical and imho without those cornerstones nothing can be built...and I wiah that iff actually went and brought in this " bozorg" foreigner coach for teh public and masses to really see that it too will fail!
I wish jsut to get in the rite direction we get jose murrinhio or the likes but see that no sensible change in tm and its football.will be achieved..they will come and go .....

persi jan, football is a totally different "game" for Iranians .

while I agree volleyball and basketball have made great strides in bettering themselves and progressing ( mind you, their leagues arent that strong & their infrastructure isnt on par with many asian nations, but they use good foreign coaches to effect such progress ), football, due to its immense popularity, unfortunately attracts a lot of politics and under-currents from the society, gov't, officials, .... that affect the game !
( to some extent, so does wrestling )

Football has been tainted by politics and politicians. and when Iranian politics enters something, you can kiss any semblance of progress and sensible root planning goodbye.

volleyball and basketball arent stained by the politics .... yet.
and I sincerely hope it stays that way. but with rising popularity ( some due to football's failures ) and more achievements and trophies, we may yet see politicians trying to butt in and cash in !!

so we shdnt compare what's happening and can happen in football with any other sport in Iran.

        ============

and btw, hiring a good foreign coach is never deemed as THE "solution" to our problems.
neither me nor bahram or any other fellow has made such claims.
we all know rahe 100 saale shd be spent walking/working for 100 saal.
but the difference is we say we might as well try to patch up some areas of shortage on the way. we might as well cover some short term goals as well, on our way to the long term destination.

I did not mean to compare volleyball with football.
What I meant to say is that teh fundamentals stay the same
what I have said and will continue to say that you nor anyone else can"patch" our football with this coach or that!

this football needs radical decisions andexecution, patching is just waste of time and effort specially so if we are talking coaches!

short middle and long term goals are there and should be, but they will not work without fundamentals for each segment...fundamentals for none of these terms from short to long is the "coach"

it has not worked, is not working and will not work.
