    Parviz Ghelichkhani in Sydney..

Guys, im planning to go with this guy Mr Ali Daei is #1 to this night where parviz ghelichkhani will be there.
    what do u guys think?

there are a few matters i need to point out:

1)i was never alive to know this legend but i have only heard of him. So, my knowledge will be limited to wat i can read about him and ask around. does anyone here think they can give me some more info about him?

2)and as usual, anyone has any questions they want me to ask him?? i dont promise i will ask all ur questions or even any question at all cos we dont know exactly how the program is planned but i will try my best to have a chat with him.

anything else anyone thinks is worth mentioning about this interview???

any feedback and info is welcomed.

Well, He was a legend in our football, a proudct of Keyan and Mr. Amir Assefi. I beleive he was from Eastern Tehran (Jhaleh square area). One day Iranian football needs to recognize what Mr. Amir Assefi has done for our football. Mr. Amir Asefi and Mr Abotaleb to football in Tehran were like what Mr. Saleeya was to Football in Abaadan (sorry for teh segway). Back to Gheeleechkhani, He very strong headed. He played for Paas from what I recall (but before that for Taj and later maybe Oghab and Perspolice). He was the capitan of TM and more senior to Ali Parvin, Ali Jabbari. Highlight of his career was when he scored a goal against Isreal in 1968 AFC championship and 2 goals to Australia for WC 74 qualification (return leg) in former Aryamehr stadium, although our team lost on aggregate 3-2 (due to a 3-0 loss on the first leg) and Iran didn't make it to the 1974 WC in Germnay.

He was very independent minded and strong headed. This didn't go well for him. Even fans one time booed him or something and he came to the sideline and give the elbow (equivalant of the middle finger in the west) to the fans. Having said that, everyone respected him due to his capabilities. His shots comapred to the standared at that time in Asia or even World level was very good. He played mid-field and was a type of fenec type of player. stalky and hardworking. He wasn't well known for his driblling or fancy footwork, but he was a bulwark in the midfield and from what I recall, he added to the attack very well.

He was a student in the university and got attracted to political environment that was very active then in the universities in Iran. Mr. Gheeleechkhani was arrested by Savak (due ot his leftist ideas), I think with Mr. Lavasani. They were forced to come to the TV and repent. But after that, he was never invited to the TM again and he didn't get invited to TM for WC 78 I beleive due to his political issues.

After the reveloution to his left leaning ideas, didn't get along with Mullahs either and left for France I think. He published a magazie, maybe not anymore, I don't know. I beleive he played for American teams in the MLS right after the 1978 WC when Andraneek Eskandareeyan and Iran Danayeefard came and played for Cosmos in New York. I think he played for a team in Claifornia.

Yashar jan, I envy you on meeting Parviz Khan. I am not the type of person who likes to go to airports to see an idol or get autographs , but Parviz Ghleechkhani is someone that I have always liked to meet and talk to. He has such an intriguing background and personality.

He was my childhood Idol ( until he moved to Perspolis ....hehhehe) but I excused him for that .

It has been many years since those days , but I consider myself lucky being able to watch him play , alas mostly on TV. I think I have seen him 3 or 4 times in real.

I need to know , if possible if the articles published in TeamMelli.com is accurate (specially the dates) and if he has photo's of his playing days , it would be great to publish in honor of this great man which has not received the appreciation he deserves in Iran's football history.

      Dastet Dard Nakoneh......

        thanx ali & majid jan.
went to the show, unfortunately, it wasnt wat i was expecting it to be.

i reached 15 minutes late cos i couldnt find the place in the beginning. but apparently, only in the first 15 minutes, they showed a few scenes from his early days.

after that, it was all political talk and a review over the iranian history and the brutality of the different rulers of iran.

but i got to take a pic with him and bought a cheap Tshirt with his pic and his autograph on it.

u guys can see it here:

i didnt get to talk to him much, i just asked him if he follows iranian football and he said yes in a way which meant not much.

while taking the pic, i told him im a hardcore esteghlali and he smiled and said, im neither. he was hinting to his disatisfaction with the Islamic republic and both esteghlal & perspolis owned by govt

on a plus note, i got met keyan (the PFDC MR_DAIE_IS#1) - great guy!

and keyan said he will try to arrange an interview for me with parviz gilichkhani. so fingers crossed!

I'm not surprised. Like many leftists from Iran he is very bitter.
Nevertheless he was once a great player.

i guess so...he actually has his own monthly publications called "ARASH" and that day it was the 100th edition, so it was like a book rather than a magazine.

                  Ah...Parviz Khan looks so different.

Good job Yashar Jan...., I had a feeling that this event was a political one in disguise. Petty there was not much football discussed.

I thought he did, but I am not sure. I was very young, are you 100% positive?

That is how I remember it as well. But since Amoo Seebeelo says he did and Amoo Seebeel is a longi, now I am more confident that Gheeleech played for PP.
