Merci Agha Majid. Amazing to see Parvin that young or a picture of Aziz Aslee Ashteeyani, Iranpac who was an amazing goal scorer. Or even Mostafavi the past Federation head during his playing years.
"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."
Afshin Ghotbi ( Former TM Head Coach)

Nasser Hejazi was the Takhti of our football.
Mohammad Panjali (Former PP and TM Captain)

Behzadi played for PP for a long time and Asli got retired. Behzadi even scored a few goals in the infamous 6-0 victory of PP over Taj that I think was in 1353 Iranian calender. But Mostafavi actually was older and that is why he got retired much earlier.

See how many of these players you know?

Ala posted this picture in this other thread about the anniversary of death of Mehrab Shahrookhi. I recognized some of the players, see how many you know? Not a good drill here, since one realizes how old he is!!!!

These are the players I know. Did I make any mistakes?

Back row from Right: Gholam Vafakhah, Mehrab Shahrookhi, Jaffar Kashani, Hossein Kalani, Hassan Habibi ( a true gem in our football) Aziz Asli

Front row sitting: Homyoon Behazadi (sar talayee since he scored a lot of goals by heading), Parviz Gheeleech khani, ???, Ali Jabbari (former Taj Capitan), ????
Anybody knows the other two players I couldnt' indentify?

Merci Majid Jaan. The guy who sit in the middle is Mustaf Arab actually as you mentioned. Now that you mentioned, how could I have missed it? I saw him couple of years ago in Jaam Doosti in California. He is and was a true gentelman in our football. One of the more educated ones as well. I only barely remember Akbar Eftekhari. I think he was playing in Oghab with Baba Khanloo. Both Akbar Eftekhari and Babakhanloo were wingers for Oghab I think right? Babakhanloo if I am not mistaken used to be a sprinter in track and feild and was famous for his speed.

Like you said , Mostafa Arab was a true gentlemen of Iran's football. I have read somewhere the he never got a yellow card ( OK...it did not exist in his days) in any official match, despite being a tough defender.

Eftikhari was probaly one of the quickest wingers in Iran's history , however he did not make many apperances in Team Melli !

I don't recall much of Babakhanloo , I am afraid.

Ali jaan, for some reason, I think in that bounch, kalani, jabari were not in the same class as the others,...they may have been famouse with thier respective teams, Taj, PP....but, not good enough for TM.kalani was the master of fakeing for injuries, and got famouse only for that...and jabbari, other than 30 meter Goal to pp was not a big deal.
How ever,Excelent PHOTO, brought back lots of memories.

                          Agha Majid,
Babakhanloo and Abbas Kareghar, (teraktoor Sazi and then PP) were the two fastest wingers in Iran's football history. On those days, no one kept the 100 meter dash records, but I am sure these two guys probably could do it over under 13 seconds which is a very good record. World record at that time probably was close to 11 second mind you.

Babakhanloo was the best players to hurt paas on those days from what I recall. Pass was famous for playing tough and tight defensive game and their defense with Majid Halwaii and Homayoon Shahrookhi and later Deenevar zadeh and Kazarani were the toughest defense in the league. But babakhanooloo based on his speed always hurt Paas.

Kareghar when came to PP got really famous. I remmber PP fans were chanting Turke Delavar Abbas Karegher. Even those guys who sat under the clock (on those days there was no scoredboard I think), and always were betting for every event during the game, get excited and temporarily stop betting on the every event of the game and followed the game when Abbas Karegher was getting the ball in Open space. He wasn't technical at all, totally relied on his speed.

Speaking of speedy wingers internationally, do you remember Zarmakh and Lato from Poland 1974-1982 team. Those two very exteremly fast as well. I heard they could do 100 meter around 11.2.

Well, I wouldn't go that far. Hossein Kalani was exteremly fast and he was a clutch man, who always scored when it was the crunch time from what I recall. He was a PP player and at that time I wasn't a big fan of him but still couldn't respect him for being such a clutch player.

Jabbari was the leader of the Taj midfield. He was a very humble man though. To me at least at one point the top three midfielder of Iran for number one and two it was a close call between Parviz Gheeleech khani -Ali parvin but number three for sure was Ali Jabbari in his era.

Thanks Ali Agha , very informative.

One player that you mentioned and I have high regard for is Majeed Halwaee. He was one hell of a tough defender and yet a likable character.

You do sound like you have better recollections about that eara than I do...and God bless you, how ever, I remmember,Ali jabari, very seldom was invited to TM, and even karo was more important mid-fielder in TAJ that he was, although, jabari's position in the center was more important.....
Kalani, too, very seldom was invited to TM....I always remmember the particular way he used to Run !,just like the particular way hasan roshan used to like, though different than kalani,.....Roshan used to run like his legs were made of Rubber and bent from sides !!.............
Other faivorit names, to me, were Khorshidi, from Homa..........kergarjam, Dinvarzadeh, ghasempoor, and gholamhossian mazloomi, and later massoud mojdehi.
