    An Idea for Center-forward !

    Aside from our Defensive problems.
    Aside from our coaching issues.
    Aside from IFF issues.
...........................We desperately need , a center forward...
.......................a focal point ,for our offense to build around..
.............some one with the killer instinct, and heading abilities..
.......................An stricker, whom opposite defenses focus on..
..........................Some one to free hashemian from defenses..
...........................................Some one to replace Ali Daie....

We saw an Idea, partialy developed by Ghalenoee, to use Zandi at the left back..which did not turn so promising, yet it was not all loss.........and with the same Idea, may be we could convert another player to play as Center-Forward.........some one with potential, and some one whom we may not have use for other-wise..........
My Idea, for such Job Is.....Vahedi-Nikbakht !!.....
He is playing not so good at the left back, mostly because, he does not like the possition, but he has shown promising signs, when has had attcking duties in perspolise.........

bahram jan, I dont think we shd hit the panic button so soon. at least not yet.

you see, we still have some guy to try out. and frankly, I dont count 2 games given to samareh or khalili as enough time to evaluate or pass judgement on their uses.

One thing I am sure of is that TM shd have at least 3-4 more games before it plays kuwait. not within the camp. they ought to play test games, even if the opponent is the IPL club or the imports or ... .
this is becoz we have to allow guys like khalili, samereh, meydavoodi, rajabzadeh, ... ( I'd even add enayati, but I know many wouldnt like it ) to find their feet and settle.

with 10-15 minutes here & there, nobody can get settled.

if we give them enough time and we still come up empty handed, then we can go for desperate measures which is bringing players from other posts to try out.

( and before ppl jump and say at pp, niki plays striker, I must say that is not all true. he assists the striker more than being one himself. his best use is as left winger. )

Why not try Amraei? He is a player who likes to penetrate the box and who has had much success at the U23 level despite his young age.
The REAL. The LEGEND. Since 2001.

Nikbakht already played that position before and sometimes does at PP. He is an option but it's doubtful that he should suddenly be the finisher we need.

We gotta do with what we have and hope some young Daei emerges soon.

Our strikers are all but worldclass, but they are good enough to achieve continental success and qualify for WC if the team around them is good.

sadly I dont think amraei's name is in the list of 50 !!
otherwise he'd be another good option .

I think this list of 50 was just for a training camp.

For example Rahmati wasn't on the list but still played, so Amraei could play as well.

Payman jaan...I agree with you, the situation is not bad !,and we also have lot of options........

But, why do you call it " desperate measures " ??

I , refer you back to what I wrote :..... " We need a center forward "....which I think you like me , believe in that ......
And this has nothing to do with how we are doing now......
So, by you calling it " desperate measures ", I take it as you belive , Khalili, maydavoudi, rajabzadeh,or samereh are far better options . ...
Is that what you meant ?!
              ......................
Assuming, you agree with me on our need to find a replacement for Daie....

Lets look at the position :

We need some one, with killer instinct.............( I only see Khalili, among your choices with that, yet I see Nikbakht's potential better ).
We need some one with heading abilities........( I only see samereh ,as possibility, yet not superior to Nikbakht ).
We need some one with a chip on his sholder,as a typical charactoristic of that position....................( Nikbakht has had more of that, even compaire to daie ).
We need some one Tall...............( Nikbakht ).
We need some one with muscles, and streangth, to handle pushes and shoves.............( rajabzadeh?......samereh comes close!,but Nikbakht is better ).
We need some one with experince.....................( Nikbakht's experince is far more than those guys ).
              .................................................. ...
There is no panic, just what might a foerign coach may think of ,.....
we have always known nikbakht has talents, more than most, but no one has realy figured in what position !!??...............he has been tried every where, and his stricker position talents are not any less than his on other positions.
              ...............................................
I just do not see other logical possibilities as any better.

, bahram jan, I cant say I can agree with the need for a "chip on the shoulder" point.

but if we are to try someone as a striker, before anything else we shd see how good a FINISHER he is as compared to the rest of those names.
and I'm sure you'll agree he is NOT as good a finisher as khalili, meydavoodi, samereh or even amraei.
( I hope martin jan is right on the matter of the list not being finalized. which begs the question, if it is not finalized or locked, then what was all that commotion and stress over sending the list to AFC? I'm not convinced yet )

The forward problem did not develop over night. What we lack in Iran is what teams do in Europe all the time and it is this:

                  1) have a direct link from national team to all youth levels.
                  2) Slowly implement prospects as young as 18 into 1st team
                  3) Test prospects in friendlies.

If we had some sort of organization within the top levels in the federation, there would be friendlies set up where young prospects are given a shot to show what they got. This doesn't happen overnight. In a course of 3-4 years an 18 yeard old prospect from youth team (such as Amraei) can be slowly implemented into the 1st team and one day be a started.

It is a slow process which we Iranians are not up for, we want things to happen overnight.

very true.. this is what we should have done since 2003, namely testing youths in forward position versus teams like Laos etc.... but we didn't and always sticked to Ali Daei there.... with the argument Ali daei was at that time better than Borhani etc etc.. True, but sometimes you have to go for "player building" and let them gain expereinces upfront when you play versus weaker teams.

but lets not mix issues....and look at the task at hand....
yes, the main problem is the system of manegment.
yes, we need to look at the issues foundementaly.
..............................but, what do we want to do for the next games ?
We are doomed to live with this system, and there is no way around it.
