based on what I saw on Navad and what I had read in the Media in days leading up to this, I think that Clemente accepted to live in Iran but didn't want it to be written as a clause in his contract.... where as IFF wanted it as clause in the contract.. and they wrote up a tough clause which Clemente just wasn't going to sign..

but unfortunately as everything else in our country, information is held from people... even on trivial issues..

I am not going to remark on any other part of the contract, but I , too heard this.
and frankly, I think it is good that the IFF insisted on it being writen into the contract.

you see an oral agreement will not hold anywhere. what if sometime down the line clemente decides to "not stay in Iran" and do his "10-days .... watered down schedule" ? who can hold him responsible?
and if IFF takes uni-lateral action, then becoz it wasnt in the written agreement, IFF will be held responsible in the courts.

so while they've f**ked up plenty, on this matter, I dont blame them.

Some unconfirmed reports, indicate Clemente has agreed to stay in Iran for
the entirety of the third round. Take off in between, details are being worked
        out. Cross your fingers/

That is my understandin DD jan, he is still not written off, because
he has called back IFF and accepted a good portion of their time
requirement. Again, as anything else coming out of IFF, it is not
            official.

Third round is what we are currently in. (Iran, thanks to our previous
record, skipped first two rounds). There are four rounds, and potentially
a wild card race if we make it to next, but dont qualify as one of the top
two teams in the group. I really think we need a decent coach to start
right away and have time to know and prepare the team. If we get a
domestic coach for this round, chances are we will have that coach for
4th round. I know we are proud people but next round will not be
as easy as many think. For heavens sake we have only qualified 3
times in our history, and that is without Australia in 4th round.

1- somehow given the amount of attention and sensitivity of the fans in the run up to this point, I think IFF has no choice but to get a foreigner.

2- as for clemente,... emmmm.... I'm not sure.
I dont think there's anything more to him. not anymore.

what makes it more convincing is all the hoopla about choosing a vatani coach . it sort of reinforces the belief that clemente's deal is done for good.
coz if they were still in negotiations, they'd go on with EZ while they iron out the last contentious items ... ITEM, I must say and bring him in before, at or right after the kuwait game.
but the way they go on about this vatani coach appointment, it rules out existence of such a rumor.

looks like GK's sources did have something up their sleeves afterall.

Clemente's still on the table !!!

                http://mehrnews.com/fa/newsdetail.aspx?NewsID=644912

                it's ridiculous !
no. not having clemente as the coach with new circumstances ( residing in Iran ), which is all good .... if it turns out to be true. but the see-saw, on-off directions IFF takes every few HOURS !!!

coz while this is in the Mehrs news, when we visit irib, we see this on ghotbi being selected !!
                http://www.iribnews.ir/Default.aspx?...ews_num=144003

                absolutely horrendous management!
but imminently hilarious and funny. ..... in a sad, tragic way !

this is why it is impossible to believe or rely on anything that comes out of iran !!
one day this, the next day that.
it's become so bad that we hear this and that in the same day, nowadays !! LOL

                only in Iran !!!
                hahahahahaha

they ought to make a movie out of this . and even the regular everyday happenings in the halls of IFF and any govern-MENTAL offices !
it's a sure fire box office hit.

                  thanks payman jaan.
A happy ending would be Clemente as head Coach, and Ghotbi his assistant.
Giveing credit where it belongs ....
Payman jaan, may be clemente has not lost the fighting spirit in him after all, contrary to what both of us thought !, and that is even a better news !

^ I absolutely agree, bahram jan.

ghotbi as the assistant coach of clemente would be an excellent pair for Iran.

as for clemente's "fighting spirit", I cant say much. the thing is he wanted an unprecedented and rather ridiculous scheduling for training with the TM. but apparently he's agreed to spend more time in Iran, which makes things very good all round.

to compound the confusion even more, here's another piece of news that claims kafashian has selected ghotbi and has also closed any file on clemente !

                      http://www.mehrnews.com/fa/Default.aspx?t=Sport

                      and here's what I REALLY & SERIOUSLY have a problem with :

you see. hiring ghotbi for the next 4-5 games of the first round, against teams like kuwait, uae and syria may be one thing.

but it is utter stupidity, foolishness and crass negligence to keep a guy like GHOTBI against teams like japan, aussies, korea, ksa, .... etc.
and I'm afraid this is what kafashian is talking about !

unless the mehr ppl have yet again screwed up, much in the vein of all iranian media, and have applied THEIR OWN interpretations, I fear kafashian wants to finish both WCQ rounds with ghotbi ! and that scares the hell out of me.
the guy cant handle ppl like misaghian and peyrovani at IPL. how on mother earth will he stand up to teams mentioned above?

absolute incompetence, negligence, .... hell, downright treason.

If they choose Ghotbi over clemete........It will be the first mistake of new IFF, and a big one !!!
How could one week delay, make clement's hireing too late ??

Coaches of Unorganized league, weak competition, internationaly uninformed , will not do when we play likes of portugal ! ,may be after 10 years, and after truely haveing proffesional league, and after haveing many facilities built, and after long term education of domestic coaches,....

Did we forget , the atmospher during the WC, and our short comeings ? did we forget what we all said about long term plannings ? did we forget how portugal toyed with us ?

Being nationalist and proud is one thing, advancing Iranian football program is another......, playing against Mexico, portugal is another......

To be prepared to play Portugal, a short program, last minute hireing of a foerign coach wouldn't do !!..............
There needs to be a top to bottom long term program, with gradual elevation of football, and long term testing, developeing prospect, building around players, and nurtureing of talents, familiarity of the system, chemistry building, etc, etc.
                        ...................
Zolfagharnasab, and Ghotbi, and Ghalenoee are fine coaches, but what they have coached is far different than, years of expeince of coaching in top European leagues...and head coaching of top 8-th ranked country in the world....

It is likes of clemente, we need for a long term program................, he has seen our games, he has seen us play against Syria, he has experince with mobelizing players , and he knows thing or two, non of our domestic coaches understand !!!............

Just listen to his responce to ferdosipoor's question in 90 " NAVAD " program, when they had clemente on thier program :

Ferdosipoor asked him what is the style you will be useing ? will it be 4-4-2, or 4-3-3.??

Clemente, answered : " When " ?........" When we have the ball ? , or when the opponanat has the ball " ?

Go ask our coaches what does that mean ?

There is a cliche Ahmadi Nejad says about "Khod Bavary" roughly
translated as self confidence. To me, most of us suffer from the
over-confidence no-confidence syndrome (at the same time)

We should have self confidence, when we accomplish something.
What have any Iranian coach accomplished in international arena, to merit
any confidence? Really? Start with IPL and how we have done in AFC.
Then it becomes undue confidence. GN perhaps is the best Iran has to offer at this point, and he is simply not good enough for international competition.

Qhotbi is still way too inexperienced.
How would he handle a Karimi kicking a bag, or a player not giving 100%?
How will he motivate players? A basic litmus test I have in IPL for how the
coach is managing, is to see who takes set pieces and how successful they
                          are.

In PP (like rest of IPL), usually there are 3 players behind the ball, often
arguing who should take it. That simply tells me, the coach hasnt done his job, or there would not be such chaos on the field. How many times do you
see that kind of crap in Europe, or even in Korea or Japan games?

Now Ghotbi either hasn't said anything about this (like designating one
left and one right footer for the whole game) to take these or he has and
they dont listen to him. Either way that is not a good sign.

^ good points , gk, on delegating different tasks suited for different players at selected occasions.
very true. it shows the coach has enough knowledge to think of all situations in a game and come up with appropriate tactics for them.
I agree on the "self belief" part too. very true.

and bahram, bro, why are you going so far to speak about meeting the likes of portugal or any other major country AT THE WC ?
when kafashain said ( I hope it's not true ) that the vatani coach will carry on till the END OF QUALIFICATION, and they'll decide on the foreign coach AFTER they qualify, it puts the whole concept of qualification in jeopardy !

as GK said, even our better vatani coaches like GN will fail against the top tier asian teams. what hope will an inexperienced coach like ghotbi have against these teams?

I think the whole point was to temporarily hire a vatani coach for the duration ( at the most ) of the first round, while it gives the IFF time to negotiate and sign a good foreign one. and once the farangi fellow comes in, the vatani fellow either steps down or becomes the assistant only.

now, according to that scary piece of news, they're talking about BOTH qualification rounds !! and I just dont see ANYONE of the vatani candidates be able to go toe to toe against the likes of ksa, japan, korea, aussies, china, iraq even !

but then again, you read so many conflicting and opposing reports coming out of Iran that makes ur head spin ! you just dont know what the hell's going on !
                            it's a full fledged circus there !

selection will be deferred for one week. He was expected to
name the domestic coach today. Let's hope all this comes
to a meaningful resolution. At the same time, I hope if Clemente
is selected, he just get his valuable rear end to Iran, and is present
                              at the time of announcement.
