Warning signals under Daei's reign

For the sake of fairness ( especially towards branko fans ), I think it is only fair to list the warning signals being seen in Daei's reign as well. So nobody can say we are partisan and biased.
This from a die hard Daei fan. But then again, for me, TM takes precedence over any club, player, personality, ... etc.


Warning signal #1:
an inflammatory and controversial initial list which has quite a few talking points. with some deserving players missing and some undeserving ones added.
well, this one can be brushed aside, had it been just a one-off incident. becoz no matter who gives the list, there are always some 3-4 players that are usually questionable. so a deviation of 10-15% is normal.
but, we'll give it a small tick mark anyway.



Warning signal #2:

مدافع تیم فوتبال سپاهان افزود: صبح امروز (شنبه) آقای بصیرت سرپرست تیم سپاهان، با من تماس گرفت و گفت که می توانم به اردوی تیم ملی ملحق شوم. من هم با توجه به توضیحات ایشان بلیت سفر به تهران را تهیه کردم اما باخبر شدم که از فهرست تیم ملی خط خورده ام. در حال حاضر نمی دانم چه کار کنم. هیچ کس هم پاسخگوی من نیست. نه سرپرست تیم سپاهان و نه سرپرست تیم ملی هیچ کدام پاسخ تلفن مرا نمی دهند.

عقیلی از سرمربی تیم ملی خواست با توجه به مشکلاتی که برای وی به وجود آمده است تصمیم به کنار گذاشتن وی از فهرست این تیم بگیرد. وی با اشاره به این موضوع ادامه داد: امیدوارم آقای دایی بدانند که من در این موضوع مقصر نیستم. من بازیکن باشگاه سپاهان هستم و نمی توانم بدون اجازه این باشگاه به اردوی تیم ملی بپیوندم. تلاش زیادی هم داشتم تا در تاریخ مورد نظر به اردوی تیم ملی بروم اما موفق نشدم.

علي دايي پس از تمرين صبح امروز ملي*پوشان در گفت*وگو با خبرنگار ورزشي خبرگزاري دانشجويان ايران (ايسنا)، در اين رابطه افزود: پس از صحبت*هايي كه با باشگاه سپاهان انجام داده بوديم قرار بود عقيلي نهايتا امروز صبح به جمع نفرات تيم ملي اضافه شود كه متاسفانه او نيامد و به طور اتوماتيك از تركيب تيم ملي خط خورد.

دايي گفت: اولويت حضور در تركيب تيم ملي با كساني است كه تيم ملي را به باشگاه*شان ترجيح بدهند و با اين وجود اعلام مي*كنم هادي عقيلي از اكنون از تيم ملي فوتبال خط خورد.

دايي همچنين درباره*ي احتمال آزادسازي برخي بازيكنان براي حضور در باشگاه*شان در بازي*هاي ليگ و جام حذفي گفت: هيچ بازيكني تا بعد از بازي برابر كويت از تيم ملي جدا نخواهد شد و ما آنان را در اختيار باشگاه*شان قرار نمي*دهيم. حتي بازيكنان استقلال كه قرار است تيم*شان روز دوشنبه مقابل راه*آهن بازي كنند را آزاد نمي*كنيم و آنها بايد در خدمت تيم ملي باشند.



today, I found out Aghili is removed from the list as he was supposed to play for this club at ACL, against the uzbek opponent.
this is a serious signal. for a guy who used to come back and forth between europe and Iran, alternating between club and TM, this kind of attitude is curious.
what makes it even more pungent is Mr. Daei is going to be leaving TM camp himself for the saipa's ACL game while TM plays bahrain. what to make out of this? shall we expect Daei to remove Daei from TM list also?
third, what about those 5 saipa players at TM camp? are they going to sit put ? does that mean saipa has to play its all-important ACL game without these influential players , thus weakening them immeasurably ? for the man who said he owes saipa a lot and doesnt want to treat them unfairly ( by resigning from the club ) , this is highly ironic !!!!

if such strict rules are to be followed, why show leniency for karimi who hasnt joined the team yet and "MAY" come in tomorrow ( UAE legioners are expected tonight ) ????? why? al qatar's playing in the crappy qatar league. who cares about them anyway? but sepahan is, first Iranian team ( so you SHD care ), secondly, are playing at ACL, and thirdly, this next game is very VERY important for them since the lost their home game.
WTF is going on ?

and this means he has balls the size of aliabadi's head for taking such GAMBLES. especially with the aghili exclusion since aghili has become a staple at TM defendse and has shown coordination with hosseini. ( god help daei if we see the saipa players leave TM camp for their ACL game !! all hell will break loose ! )
major gamble that may or may not pay dirt.

The Warning sign #1 is non-existence in my opinion. The coach selects his players not the fans. The fact that you think that player x deserves a call while player Y does not has always and will always be immaterial. Else every coach in the world would be given a warning sign....because someone out there does not like a selection.

Warning #2 is of a concern. If Daei has a special preferential treatemnt for Saipa and ignores Sepahan , then there is a serious flaw in his attitude. Unless I misunderstood the whole situation , I believe that Aghili did not turn up for the camp as he promised (because of Club refusal to release him) so, I really blame the club than the player.

For information , both UAE club representatives in ACL did not play the current round. I am not sure if their players were given a special treatment though.

i think there has been some contradiction with daeis choice of players.

for example, on one side, the new coaching staff claim they wanna do "javan garayi" for TM GKs, but instead, they go and invite an almost 30 year old roudbarian???
they invite misagh memarzadeh from saipa although rahman ahmadi was playing for saipa as their GK last game in ACL??

he talks about being on form but invites mohsen khalili who has been on such a poor form lately but not the likes of saber mirghorbani??
and he invites abbasfard from saba as forward?? saba is a team well known for its defenders (yahya and bakhtiyarizadeh last season) scoring all their goals. wat has abbasfard done all these years to be invited to TM?

these are all just few examples. ofcourse, other coaches also made uneasy decsions but with some of those ridiculous replies he made on navad, one really begins to worry, not even ghalenoi gave such kinda replies!

one really wonders, nafase ali daei az jahaye kheyli garm boland mishe??

P.S. gholampour ke sibilesho zade, kheyli shabihe pirouz ghorbani shode. also, gholampour and roudbaria were both pas GKs at one time if im not mistaken

point 2 concerns me as well.
Back in WCQ 97 Daei together with karim Bagheri flew back and forth to Bielefeld to play in Bundesliga and returned back to TM.
Now that Sepahan needs Aghili, I really dont think crossing Aghili out was neccessary.
As you also said, daei himself is not accompanying TM during the Saipa ACL clash.

Majid jan, as I said , I agree there is always a discrepancy of about 10-15% in the list depending on whoever chooses them. and that is normal.

BUT we shd also beware that such small issues WILL come up along with bigger ones, if something goes wrong. whether we like it or not.
If an area or a chosen player is found to play weak or something drastic happens, and if this is the area that a coach had left out some better known and in form players, then justification and defense of such decisions will become even that much harder.

I wanted to add the duality in choosing the 3rd choice GK ( memarzadeh Vs. Mohamadi & ahmadi, saipa's 1st chouce keeper ) issue, but since I'd already gone over that in the other thread, didnt include it here.
but this , you gotta admit, does raise quite a few eye-brows and question marks too.

the problem is those mall issues come and go with every coach at anytime, but in case of Daei they will go to extreme points due to the fact that you have either "die hard Daei supporters" and "die Hard Daei Bashers" and less neutral fans in his case, which unfortunately - and that is my main concern - will harm Iranian football more than anything-else.
I wished IFF would have been more sensitive with its selection AND Timing.

the first thing doesn't concern me at all as much as the 2nd part does. If he is purposefully taking players off lists, are we just seeing a continuation of the same problems we see with every coach in this country?

ok. I'm just speculating and for all you know I may be totally wrong here.
and these speculations are becoz daei never really made the case for some of his selections. not that he HAS TO, btw. but I'm sure a couple of players' selection has been questioned by many ppl.

In defense of daei, and in case of his choices for GK;s, I'm just guessing that since both saipa & sepahan were engaged in ACL, he chose to not use the first choice keepers of these 2 clubs.
which means Mohamadi and Ahmadi may have deserved the call up and only their duties at ACL are the reasons for them missing out.
hence dropping of mohamadi and choosing of 2nd choice memarzadeh over ahmadi.

well. That's really it. I just cant think of anything else that might justify the peculiar selection of keepers.


and yet, even after this, his comment on "selection based on form" leaves quite a few questions.
for example: is roudi in form?
and more importantly, is is sadeghi in form at saipa?
isnt kaz in form?

Troublesome critics will start if the 5 Saipa TM players will be allowed to play for Saipa in ACL, then ppl will ask why was Aghili not allowed to accompany Sepahan or as a result of that was kicked out of TM!

so the whole excuse of striking aghili off was based on 2 .... I repeat, TWO LOUSY DAYS ? coz he would have joined the TM camp after their ACL game ... just like saipa players AND COACH !

all this is worth replacing a reliable and well-settled component of the team with a new-comer who is NOT coordinated with the rest of TM and defense line?
does it even make sense remotely?

the issue with having two jobs , number of players selected from his own team and issues such as those, although very serious, but they don't bother me much...


the one serious concern that I have about Daie, is his lack of tolerance for criticism...

I also believe he did it again when esteghlal and the federation along with aliabadi pushed for their team ( u read esteghlal)to not play rah ahan if daei were to not give their 2 players.n Daei all of a sudden calls up montazeri, so esteghlal will have 3 players and automatically the game will be postponed. This is really rediculous...aghili had solid performances for his club and tm..I do not see montazeri any better than out of shape but atleast experienced nosrati or plenty of others!

Amoo sounds like your forcast was right. There are a set of rules for everyone else and a different set of rules for Saipa players.

Your enemity with SS is like the Akhoonds and Rouzeh in Iran. No matter what, at the end they brought up the Saharaye Karbala. Dada SS had no role in any of this? It is not like SS won't play Rah Ahan again? After all we are talking Rah Ahan. Why SS needs to be scared of Rah Ahan. SS team is imprvoing granted not as much as it shoudl/could, but this whole conspiracy for SS is really redicolous.
SS is the supported team and PP has 6 players in the camp. Roudbarian is called up !!!! on a fairly suspect circumstances as does Vahedi and many other PP players and you keep repeating the SS is the favorite team with IFF?

I guess Gobelz the propaganda minister of Nazi Germany was right, if you keep repeating the same thing over and over some people start to beleive it. Now you have this theory of SS being the favorite and keep repeating it so many times that eventually has turned to a self fulfilling proficy for yourself.
