how ever, if we end up and not scoreing again.......it will be known to all, that something fundementaly wrong with TM, not doing it again, even against Kuwait, after so long......
That is why, I think, daei will in fact change the set up, to more aggressive posture !, at least with two forwards. possibly, 4-4-2

    Bahram Jaan;

Playing attack or defense will be based on the dynamic of play in the field. Both teams of course are in bad shape and need a win. However, team starategy in the field will dictate what team takes over.

In one of my recent posts, I mentioned how Hosseini tend to stay back and by him staying back Ando in turn needs to stay back and for that matter even Kaabi on right is further away from the opposition goal. Until, we deal that issue, our midfiled won't be able to support our attack (unless we play against a super weak team like U23 Jamaica or U23 Ghana in Tehran).

Other issue, is I think our football is going through a metamorphisis. In the past our players, played based on thier improvision, technical moves, creativity, etc. etc. As football is becoming more organized in Iran (so called professional), player creativity isn't accomodated for. Players are becoming more and more bound to do the tactic that the team needs (which isn't a bad thing in general), but this process is killing our killer ace (player creativity and improvsing).

Frace in WC 2002 did the same thing to Zidan and Henry I beleive and you saw the early exit of France in 2002 (first round). The same issue was the root cause of Karimi not shinning in Bayern as he should ( he tried to become like a German player, rather than trusting his own guts). Look at Franko Ribery and Hamid Altintop now in Bayern. Interesting Altintop wears number 8. But Ribery is playing with his instinct (while overall stays within the team tactic).

In summary, I think the second factor (tranistion in our so called semi pro) while is needed, needs to accomodate player creativity and having 1-2 players with a free flowing role (Karimi is an example). If I were the coach, I wouldn't have given any defensive responsibilities to Karimi not an Iota. He isn't 23 anymore and every steps he chases back and defend means one less step the other way (offense).
"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."
Afshin Ghotbi ( Former TM Head Coach)

Nasser Hejazi was the Takhti of our football.

      very well said.
well not that I agree with the "not an iota" bit , as any player shd participate in defense to some extent, even the forwards. but Karimi shd have a more forward role with offensive duties far outweighing his defensive ones.

I think the ball possession will be the key factor for controlling the game as Kuwait shouldn’t have much superiority over us to dictate the game on us. Then it's all about accurate passes and let the game flows. The goals are coming eventually. Otherwise, running like a headless chicken won’t help any one. In this scenario having 3 lines close together is the major factor which I refer you to Ali’s comment about Hossieni in this post which is a very valid comment

For once, I wish you guys watch Arsenal games and see Fabrigas as the ideal midfield player for modern football (this is KaKa's statement not mine by the way).

        Cheers,

I think, I know which previouse post of yours you are talking about...., I loved it....very indept......I can tell, you do coaching.......
this time, also, you are touching upon something important, as the metamorphisis, you called it.....whether, it is a metamorphysis, or just shortage of talent , which I call it......the TM is getting more tactical ,as you mentioned, and count on individualistic talents less........which is very true....
Now, if we are going to get, what bayern got out of Karimi, ( which was nothing ), or a more efficient game,,,,we will see !
but, all this aside, TM ,beside wanting to win, is in desparate situation to score goal !....for more reasons than one.
And, regarding karimi, and him not haveing defensive duties,I also agree, yet, what exactly makes us miss, nekounam, may be is because of that transition between defense to the forwards....as it seemed, the midfield is too far from the forwards, and closer to our defense.only, neko among our midfilers can do it all....defensive duties, and offensive duties....ofcourse, kia used to do that as well.
