    Does size matters ?

Do you think that the physique of a player plays a key factor in deciding the outcome of a football match?

Or can skill compensate for muscle and height?

loooooooooooool. Call me a pervert but i thought this thread was about something else. To answer your question...i think both need 2 go hand in hand, but skill>physique..look at roberto carlos, hossein kaebi, sean wright philips then look at peter crouch who is a whopping 6 foot 8 inches and still struggles 2 score. There is no 'correct' answer to your question.

you can't do anything about the length of your life, but you can do something about its width and depth

yah i think skill makes up for lack of size, but players need to play according to their size, im a big mofo so i dont go tryin to do all these fancy dribbling tricks w/ my slow treetrunk sized legs, but playing D i put a body on a guy to slow them down and take them off their game, especially the small quick dribbling kinds... it's all in how u use ur size to ur advantage

Look at Kaabi, What he does not have in Strenght he makes up with his amazing speed,Teknik and HARD Work

Deffinatly 1 of Irans most Hardworking players, at a good day he is all over the field and its impressing

And he has no problem taking care of strikers twice his size,

          NO size Does not matter,

No Wonder he is known to be 1 of the Brightest soccer players in the World, Only time will tell when he ends up in Europes top clubs

as a general rule in todays game which forces a player to be 70% physique 30% technique, a player under about say 5 ft 5 (165 cm) would have to be a genius to succeed.

Today the most important thing in footbll is physical attributes (strenght, Speed, agility, balance, stamina)

This is the sole reason why football has progressed so much from the old days. And this is where our football is hurting.

unfourtunately if you have skill but not physically strong/fast it will bring you down massively.

well it does matter. it depends on where and which position the player plays:

Goalkeeper - Generally size matters however in some cases VERY intelligent ones come out to be short (like Mexico's Campos)

Mid-defense - It definitly matters for both the sweeper and skipper to be tall and strong

Side defense - Preferably smaller players that can be quick and good on 1-on-1's

Defensive midfielder - I would say strength is very important but height is not

Attacking midfielder - Does not matter ... Maradonna is an example

Striker - Depends on the style of play .. small or big, anyone who can score will play up front

                          --------------Big-----------------
                          small---big-------big----small--
                          ------------Strong---------------
                          both ------- both ------ both ---
                          --------both--------both---------
