    Contrast of our ACL teams

    1) circumstances:
Today Sepahan, beleaguered in its group, AWAY from home in saudi arabia, won. this win was after many typical arab underhanded tactics. add to this the heat os the venue which certainly didnt suit sepahan players who had to resort to drinks after 10-15 minutes of the game.
missing their absolute top stars : navidkia, karimi, aghili, mohamadi ... enough to make ANY team become overly defensive.

while saipa, AT HOME, relaxed and topping the group, had to play a far weaker opposition among their own fans' cheers.

    -------------

    2) oppositions:
sepahan faced a highly reputed and pedegreed alittihad of one of asia's top footballing nations. with an argentinian coach and handful of brazilian and other imports.

saipa was facing a club from a country that hardly has a league, is at war and cant afford to keep its own players, let alone bring in any imports !

    -------------

    3) the games:
Saipa played a poor, poor abysmal game. too cautious and negative for its own good! so poor that they couldnt even hold onto their goal !!!
    why?
they played the horrible 4-2-3-1 formation, too negative and too cautious that made them as impotent as a 97 year old man with no testicles.

sepahan had the guts and went in with 4-4-2 and attacked and attacked until they reaped their efforts. AWAY from home, let me repeat. becoz they were SMART and not gutless.

as they say "No guts, no glory".
yet again, another testament to the utter wastefulness of the moronic 4-2-3-1 formation and the clarification that 4-4-2 RULES

I, yet again, question the use of the moronic 4-2-3-1 formation in IRAN, when we dont have the right players.
today, we saw, aside from that, we dont have the right attitude among the coaches too.

Apart from what you said, what really surprised me (or actually not ) and amazed me was the fact that despite playing at home, against a (relatively) not so strong team, was the fact that Daei at one moment substituted Vaziri out for Alvez and kept on continueing with the same tactics and formation. :-/

I mean it was obvious the Iraqi side was settling with a draw and hadn't really have any real intentions to go for the 3 points, so why not putting in an extra forward and at least pressurize them in the last 30 minutes of the game?!?!

Baba it's been clear now that this formation doesn't work for Iran/Iranian teams. It's like trying to force Italian sides to play the Dutch attacking football of 4-3-3. It's just idiotic and it would never work!
Persian Pride running through my veins!

    Esteghlal for life!!

IMO Mr Daei has 2 options and this both for his own good and as TM coach our football:

      - Take a break and attend some real coaching classes, which unfortunately, considering the current situation with both Saipa and TM coach, is unrealistic.

      or

      - Pull a Klinsmann and hire a very good assistant mastermind tactician.
HOMER: Son, when you participate in sporting events, it's not whether
you win or lose.... it's how drunk you get.

Well aside from Daei's questionable coaching tactics, I have to give a lot of credint to Sepahan and their complete and utter domination of our rival KSA's clubs. PP or SS have not recently done what Sepahan has, and that is constanlty outperfrom a better suited, financial, and rich club like the Saudis
