Who but Daei could, but since neither of us can seriously doubt his wish to beat UAE and to advance to next round, we can be sure it is his certain belief that those players won't help us further at the moment. Other than us he has played a long time as professional player under several good coaches and he had a successful spell as coach with Saipa.

He and his coaching team observed the players for a week in training camp and during internal test matches. Two of those players got a chance against Saipa, the only time him and us together could observe the players.

I also partially disagree with Daei, I would have kept Asghari and Alavi (an option for centerback and DM), but hey, I don't have to take responsibilty for the results, I didn't see those players in training for the last week nor do I have their data about fitness and speed, so how can I blame him for not acting according to my amateurish plans made thousands of miles away from the camp.

About Asadi: I'm wondering how you can be surprised. This is the third national coach in a row inviting him and then ousting him after looking at him closely. Even without seeing what they see, you must slowly realize that he doesn't appear to be TM material.

^ yeah. and zareh IS. right?

either that, or there are "OTHER" parameters involved in selection.

Well, Daei says he is and I tend to agree.

Please accept that a decisions by a coach you don't support or understand don't mean something is fishy.

Unfortunately, it is payback time, I scratch your back.. you scratch my back!! getting offers that you can't refuse... same ole same ole Mafia mentality
It is no different that the whole state of affair in our beloved country. IFF is not at all independent, head coach is not independent and all are connected to each other with strings attached.. just don't rock the boat. There is no professional objective management in our affair, what keeps it all together is short termed self interest collectively within a hodgepodge federation.

^^ hell, not only I dont understand, I doubt anyone else would either.
certainly it cannot be based on zareh's performance as it was the absolute pits !! so if we take out the performance, one is left wondering what ELSE could be the reason for his retention.

this is the same old excuses of years back "oh, the coach knows best" .
ok. if things were normal, one would definitely accept that.
but with so much evidence against such a matter, especially the MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR, which is a player's capabilities and extent of service, one is left stranded & amazed.
you dont pick a driver for yourself just becoz he looks good or talks well or ... but drives like sh*t !
you dont pick your doctor becoz he looks kind but operates like a butcher.
you dont pick a car becoz of its nice color, but drives like a lorry.
            you dont ... .
and finally, you dont pick a player becoz he is friendly or kind but plays like an amateur.

I understand the urge to defend ppl ( as we saw pre WC ) and expecting blind trust, but somethings sometimes dont fit .
if zareh cant cover the LB post, no matter how lovely a person, how kind a human being, how gentle and disciplined an athlete, how humble a man he is, ultimately it SHOULD come down to how he plays the post.
            that's it.
his gentleness, humility, kindness, friendly nature and ... will NOT block the attacking opponent trying to pass him to either score or assist a goal. does it?
it's his intelligence and how he applies what he knows to the requirements of the role he is put in. and we've seen FOR YEARS that zareh just cant do it in the LB role.

now, if you come & tell me he's there for the RIGHT MIDFIELD, then you may have a case.
hell, it may make sense, coz zareh plays in this post in his club. we also dont have Kia in the roster. and daei refuses to call up kazemian, the next best person after kia, for the role.
so he has picked zareh for the R-Mid post.
            ok.

then, who is gonna play the LB?
            khalili?
            mirza?

These days, I don't get much chance to follow football, so I don't know all the details and facts. Having said that, I am very glad about one thing at least. It seems TM and its side issues aren't on the first page of sports papers and this one element alone is a positive thing.

Wish all the success to our beloved TM and its current coach Mr. Ali Daie.
"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."
Afshin Ghotbi ( Former TM Head Coach)

Nasser Hejazi was the Takhti of our football.
Mohammad Panjali (Former PP and TM Captain)

Daie needs to instruct at least one midfielder to take some shots on the opponent's goal... Right now TM is not doing that nearly enough.

I lost my trust in Bagheri in 2001 when he was on fault on all three goals we conceded in Bahrain. Can't forgive that.
