repeating championship in iran is not as difficult as it is in the west, but again, ghotbi again is no worldclass coach for it to be easier for him. while ferguson as a worldclass coach has to beat lots of worldclass coaches to repeat his championship, ghotbi as an average coach (by international standards) has to beat other average coaches (again by interenational standards) to repeat his championship. in essenece, they both have to beat their opponents who are or more or less, the same caliber to repeat their success. so its a relative matter.
ghotbi now has to work with a new management board and assistants + perspolis still hasnt got some of its old key players like kaabi, nosrati, agahei and badamaki. also farzad ashoubi, another key player left for mes kerman. add to that, the fact that ghotbi has now spent 1 season in iran and the other coaches and teams have known him better and can study him better for their games.

second, i think both sepahan and esteghlal will be tough competitors. sepahan has added some good players. the big question mark is over their coach firat. i think if he does his job well, sepahan can be as good as perspolis.

esteghlal on the other side is not 1 or 2 years from being competitive either in my opinion. with the return of ghalenoi and key esteghlal players both from last season and the seasons under ghalenoi, they are gonna be competitive already since the players and the coach are quite familiar with each other.
the same perspolis 2 seasons back was not competitive. but the next season (meanin last season) we saw how competitive they became.

P.S. just because rahman rezai, zandi and mobali are linked with perspolis doesnt mean they will get them. such links with such players and coaches have been there every season but it never happened. so lets wait and see it if happens first.
    yashar E Aziz...............
I did not know,Nosrati, badamaki, kabie, and aghaie have left,or are leaving....
and I, agree, that Esteghlal could be good this year..and may not need year or two..............
But,I think,it is safe to say, just like last year, PP is going to have top talents..and no missing part....less problem with key players than other teams...........also, there are several things that gives advantage to Ghotbi.
His hard work, none stop, American attitude.
He is better at analyzing others than they analyze PP.
he will be better prepared this time ( Coacing, players, managment, etc.)
His understanding of psycology, and sence of haveing Goal he gives to his players, and the way he supports them.
I still believe, as we speak, PP has the best chance to repeat!
Do n't you think so ?

      I agree with Majid jan.
this year, he earned our respect. But ghotbi needs to show some variation and tactical diversity if he's going to succeed and defend the title. otherwise he'll get stuck in the rut he got stuck mid season the last one.

i agree with u that ghotbi has his own superiority over other coaches.

however, i think other coaches have their own superiority over ghotbi as well, specially esteghlal.
i really have high hopes for esteghlal this season because
1)ghalenoi's repeated proven record with esteghlal (ghotbi's record has been only in 1 year. there is no sign of consistency in yet. whether he can repeat it or not remains a mystery and we can find out by the end of the season only)
2)signing of a lot of relatively good players (so far, perspolis is lagging behind in this factor compared to esteghlal.)
3)return of key esteghlal players to ghalenoi (again, nosrati, kaabi, badamaki and aghaei have not renewed yet. and ashoubio left. so, i think perspolis is lagging behind esteghlal in this factor as well, SO FAR)
4)the less time ghalenoi, his staff and his players to gel up (again perspolis needs more time cos of change in management, change in staff, and so far, not many of the old key players i mentioned above have resigned).

those are the advantages i give to ghalenoi in compared to ghotbi which i think u would agree with me now that u know most of perspolis key players havent renewed with perspolis while with esteghlal, they have.

the only point i disagree with u is, i dont think ghotbi can analyse the opponents better than the opponents can analyse him, or atleast the margin wont be that big a deal. i think iranian coaches are good analysts and theorecians in general. its in other departments they have their shortcomings which doesnt make them that successful. but the more successful coaches like ghalenoi, atleast in IPL, i dont think he is any worse in analysing the opponents. this could party be because im one of those members who is still skeptical of ghotbi's abilities and one reason is because of lots of different views and reasonings that i have read and heard from different sources. on the other hand, ghalenoi has a more proven record and given the player advantages that esteghlal has so far, i have very high hopes for esteghlal this season but those are only my hopes which are built on previous records and info i have.

yashar jaan, do not forget that I am a " Esteghlali ", and I like them better regardless.
Esteghlal had much more hole to fill than perspolise..and I still think, now that ghotbi is back, those PP players will come back too...........as far as personel, I see PP still more complete than esteghlal..............
Esteghlal, had holes in center defense, and center forward... they do not seem to have solved those needs yet.

I also am not totaly sold on Ghotbi...but he has earned, the benefit of the doubt !
