I agree. however I'm more interested to see how he performs after some 10-12 weeks of the league and perhaps a couple of ACL games under his belt. the more the league goes on, the more pressure on the players' body and stamina. will he be able to run as hard and at such work rate when fatigue sets in and wear & tear starts to have their effect on his aging body?

Karimi sees the situation this way:

Karimi's Perspolise vs Daei's Perspolise. That's why he gets frustrated and tries to handle the whole team alone.

      Poor guy,

        Babak is right..!
Situation, totally remind me of (my other All time Favorite athlete ) Jordan right before his second retirement from the game..! He said that he just doesn't get this new breed of NBA players..!? I'm the 40+ old guy, yet I find myself being the only one busting his chin diving for loose balls & hustling on court, wanting to win & playing anything resembling defending..!

Sure there are many variables @ play in PP currently causing their failures & Karimi's frustration (biggest cause of that Red card) ..!
The biggest problem is caused by Daei who left them hanging that late in off season with so much drama & hashieh,( his posse in media & fan stands are still rampant, doing everything possible to tear this team apart before they gel & become a cohesive unit..!)it sure feels now like it is Karimi's PP vs Daie's..! As Haj agha mentioned below..!

        Ps
From what I recall, Karimi was fould getting literally pushed off( using hands..!) a 50/50 ball, Ref No call the situation & rest is history..! ( in hindsight it was a timely rest for AK in midst of clusterfk of shitt that's surrounding PP currently..!)

Well we can't claim that Karimi is not having an clear overview of the situation and an idea of he needs to do.

He wasn't too late either. So the only thing that remains is the fact that he was slower than the other player.

But I also have a feeling that there is more than just him being slower.

He is clearly frustrated: the PP management situation, the loss of points to poor opponents, the fact that he is being outrun by younger players, the fans chantings, etc etc

However, I think what's most frustrating to him is the low level of skill of his team mates and the lackluster impression of them. Karimi, with his age, is the only one husteling and giving his 100% all the time. And I think that's something that adds to his frustration in PP (and TM) leading to such moments. He wants to win and he tries much more than 1 player should.

Just like being lazy on a field, wanting too much and trying too hard has a negative effect too.

It will be interesting to observe Karimi as the season progresses. There is always the possibility that he might actually get a better shape , of course.

For sure , his age is not helping , but I think a clever and experienced coach can handle this shortcoming by utilizing Karimi a) in the most suitable role b) at the right time (i.e. not necessarily 90 minutes in every match)

Whether Estili can handle Karimi's shortcomings is open for debate , but
I was pleasantly surprised by Estili rationale against emotional decision making when it came to player's selection. So , one never knows , Estili could handle Karimi much better than we expect.

At Team Melli level , perhaps his two matches against the Maldives was not exactly a Stirling performance , but Indonesia , Karimi showed maturity , intelligentsia , skills and more importantly , the determination to win.

It is a good omen for Karimi and Team Melli after some rough rides in his last few seasons.

We all know how good this man can be on a green pitch , what we don't know is how often he displays it.

It is now clear that Karimi's performance has not held up and the more the season progressed , the worse Karimi's performance has become.
In the last couple of matches of PP , it was clear that Karimi's greatest attribute , dribbling , has abandoned him. Despite his effort and the willingness to lift Perspolis , his legs were not responding as well as his mind.

And now that his buddy Hamid Estili is sacked or resigned , Karimi is clearly upset about the situation and is liable to ignite at any time. He has been a staunch supporter of Estili and worked behind the scene to get him the coaching position by his lobbying and the failure of Estili is a personal failure for Karimi as well. It will be interesting to observe how he will perform and behave under the disciplinarian and no-nonsense Turkish coach Denezli.

Of course , true to form , Karimi had already had one outburst against AzizMohammadi out of frustration.

He is the least to blame of all for pp's failures this year..!

No one is blaming Karimi for Perspolis bad results and it seems no matter how many thousand times I repeat myself that Football is team sport and no single factor , be it a player or the coach is culpable people still think otherwise !!!! In fact , Karimi has been one of the better PP players , On and Off, or at least one of their most committed.

As for naming a few players that have played better than Karimi , I can suggest about 40 or 50 players , but I dare not do it because I have NOT watched ALL or any reasonable percentage of the games to be able to say create a meaningful opinion.

But then again , You Agha Bachelot need to only watch a few Perspolis matches to decide that no other player has played better than Karimi , Right?

                    I kina agree.
estili's pp without karimi would have been at the bottom, wrestling with mes-sarcheshmeh. his goals and assists during estili's reign were quite influential in them not sitting in 17th or 18th place

without watching even a single asian club game this year, i can still conclude that you couldnt find 40 players who perform better than Mighty AK8 IN Entire Asia..!! much, Much less the lowly PGL..!! and Non in PP period..!! ask the staunchest of all PP fans and none can deny that fact with straight face..!!
dont know about you guys...but i only need to see 3-5 matches(preferably @ variety of levels) from any footballer to assess(reasonably well..!) his Overall quality as a footballer and even predict (with 70% or above accuracy) his potential for future Improvements..!!
                      im just cool like that..!!

Well...Good for you. That is certainly one unique talent that you have .
Not everyone has your talent for analyzing and judging on players , without even watching them play (...)

                          Talk of the devil.

Not in my widest imagination , I would have imagined that Ali Karimi , at this stage of his career , would be playing so well for Team Melli. Even against Jordan in the friendly match in Dubai , he gave it all , he ran , he tackled , he defended, he dribbled , he scored and he persevered to display on of the best matches he played wearing the national jersey n the last few years.

he might well prove us wrong and get even better in all departments specially his attitude. He looks and acts wiser.

No denying that he lost his edge in some departments , but even considering that , Ali Karimi played quite a match against Jordan and he is my pick for man of the match.

What was most surprising is that he looked more tired and lethargic at the beginning of the game. At that stage I thought he was gonna slow down even more. Fortunately he went into a higher gear for the last 20 minutes. Damesh garm.

Now he did it again, critisizing his boss? This time Mustafa Denizli, for the lineup against Al Gharafa. How unprofessional. He is more and more turning into a Khodadad Azizi, I hope he doesn't try it with CQ as well, I don't think he would take that.

Queiroz would throw him out of Team Melli, if he tries once...
