What are the chances of Karimi making his debut next Saturday ?

I dearly hope he makes an appearance even as a late substitute.

Well , I am glad you found the quality in those fake goods , Reza Jan. I , on the other hand , was never that lucky.

The last time I bought some fake in Tehran , about 10 years ago or maybe or more, It was a white Esteghlal jersey with a large blue logo printed in the front. It was summer and after wearing it for the day , I took it off for washing ...I was pleasantly surprised to see the Esteghlal blue logo was now transferred on my chest That was a bonus , I guess!

See Honar Nazde Iranian asto baas. See if Nike or Adidas can replicate that??!!!!

I highly doubt it, as much as I'd love to see Karimi's debut on Saturday, it just seems very unlikely that he gets any playing time, Magath is under immense criticism for these 2 transfers and he is not willing to jeopardize his coaching career with Shalke by playing the least favorite names of his team by the club fans. At best he may get 5-10 minutes of playing!

        Hopefully I am wrong!

Why should Magath be criticized for signing Karimi ? He has got a skinful , international and experienced player for virtually no fee.

Anyway , from my understanding , Magath was looking for a player in midfield who can provide some ammunition for his forwards and though Karimi would do a good job.

          We shall see.

im assuming magath would only play him if schalke is leading with 2 or 3 goals difference and the team is in a safe position to secure 3 points.
this way he will slowly introduce karimi to the fans and the fans will not make such a big fuss about it

Magath indeed is under massive criticism for signing two "old and unemployed" players. Fans are very pissed about the signings of Karimi and Charisteas.

In "fans" beran ye jashoono bezanan be abe yakh.....

It's not like they were on top of the table and sold their best players and bought Karimi to replace them and now they're on bottom.

I do get that they're mad that they didn't get "good" players during transfer season, but when you pay peanuts.......

i think this pissed off mood of the fans is a continuation from the beginning of the season where magath dismantled bundesliga's best defensive pair of burdon-westerman and sold 19 players apparently and their team is in deep $hit on top of that.
so they were expecting magath to make up for his bad transfers during the winter berak but it seems magath had even more suprises for them

magath has a mountain to clim now

His first game was amazing too.....

I haven't seen both games live, and I wouldn't base my opinion soly on Karimi highlights. But what's important and promising (and a bit sad about Iranian football) is the full highlights of 1st and 3rd games of perspolis.

At least 3/4 of every PP opportunity is created by Karimi. I know he is the playmaker and it's his role to do that, but the guy is everywhere....defending in his own 16, on the wings, in the 16 of the opponent etc.

And (unfortunately) he seems to be the only player who actually is able to cross, provide a through pass, or at least give a groundpass over more than 5 meters......

He's still not half the player he used to be, but he looks fitter and sharper than in the years before and has some very bright moments.

Well he is never going to be the player he used to be, and we shouldn't hope/expect that either.

What's important is the fact that he is the best and most influential player of at least PP right now. Whether he can keep this up for a whole season is a secon thing...

                            Comment

It was quite unfortunate for Karimi to be sent off against Mes Sarcheshmeh.

The Sending off was 100% correct as there is no doubt that the offense itself and the proximity of the referee to the scene left very little doubt.

I believe that Karimi's foul was a mixture of lack of pace and of some frustration because he lost the ball or the players dribbled past him. In the heat of the moment , Karimi plunged from behind and fouled the opponent.

Similar fouls were also committed by Karimi in most of the matches I have seen of him this season even against the Maldives, which brings a question. Is Karimi capable of playing in a retreated midfield role or pseudo defensive midfielder?

I think , Karimi's age . lack of pace and physical condition , does not allow him to fill such a demanding role. Karimi is and always been a attacking midfielder and forward, now at such a late stage of career , he is being asked to do a bit more than he can chew and hence he will commit mistakes.

^ being late, slower than the other player, and not being aware of the situation and what one has to do is the main reason why players commit these kind of fouls.

Well we can't claim that Karimi is not having an clear overview of the situation and an idea of he needs to do.

He wasn't too late either. So the only thing that remains is the fact that he was slower than the other player.

But I also have a feeling that there is more than just him being slower.

He is clearly frustrated: the PP management situation, the loss of points to poor opponents, the fact that he is being outrun by younger players, the fans chantings, etc etc

However, I think what's most frustrating to him is the low level of skill of his team mates and the lackluster impression of them. Karimi, with his age, is the only one husteling and giving his 100% all the time. And I think that's something that adds to his frustration in PP (and TM) leading to such moments. He wants to win and he tries much more than 1 player should.

Just like being lazy on a field, wanting too much and trying too hard has a negative effect too.
