He will most likely be used as a super sub, he has been in great form and health lately, mahdavikia and hashemian both got really fat, mahdavikia and hashemian got fat really early.

Their not fat, their just old (34,35). Hashemians and Kia's era is over, its time to clear the squad for some younger and fresh players. I still would keep Karimi in the squad, he still consists of some expertise and experience.

i dont know what he has said, but i gather these two dont really have the most amicable relationship, since mustafa busted his balls on the bus for using his cell phone and probably prior to that..!!?? not a good thing for PP..!! I just wish he would leave that fking team and join a somewhat competitive foreign team at least until world cup 14...! he likes that typical tokhmy iranian club way too much and gets emotional, tries well beyond his means to save them face game in, game out and he is bound to injure himself badly , sooner or later, trying to pick up slack for mediocre squad and mgment..!!
as far as CQ, he recognizes true quality Authority and has proper respect for him, i highly doubt he would stir up shittt in tm under CQ ever..!! in fact, much of early success of CQ in TM can Only be credited Directly to Ali and AK ONLY..!!

Like i said above only a nasty injury can keep him from being a valuable, experience senior player in WC come 2014..!! TRUE Quality is Simply Ageless, like Zidan ..!! I expect him to be our Diego Forlan @ WC14..!!
until i see an iranian playmaker perform half as good as him, i will continue to depend on and prey for at least one more WC appearance from mighty AK..!!

I was surprised that Ali Karimi did not even make the trip to Tabriz ! But really , why should I be surprised? Karimi once again has carried out his usual antics and criticized his coach!Why...just why...?

Why Ali Karimi does not understand a very very simple rule in football that says , it is the coach or manager's job to select the players and substitute them , NOT the team's Captain ? Why is it so difficult for him to understand that ? and at such an age where he should , in theory , be wiser and experienced!!

I missed the matches today , but I wonder if Karimi's absence had any effect on PP heavy defeat in Tabriz ?

As for Karimi in World Cup 2014, I can't see beyond a few weeks let alone after more than two years, but I can say that it will be a very desperate squad if Karimi is included in the team with so many talented players already available in the midfield. I simply cannot see him being in Brazil , but ..hey this is football...all sort of crazy things happen.

Unfortunately I am gonna have to agree with Maij jaan.

Karimi over and over has spoken against his former coaches, causing unnecessary drama and chaos with his teams. Let's put our bias aside and be a fair judge. As much as I love him as a great player, a brave and outspoken person, but at the same time his temperamental attitude and harsh fashion of speech particularly against his superiors, mainly the coaches is quite inappropriate and bothersome to me at least. He has often had a very reclusive personality throughout his footballing career to say the least as I have no idea how his private life goes, This has been his biggest flaw in all clubs he has previously played for, remember at Bayern he never even tried to learn little German, and according to what I heard and read here and there, he almost never socialized with his teammates which is partly (If not mainly) the reason he couldn't last too long in Bundesliga.

Ranting against your coach, especially for technical reasons is very wrong and deserves punishments IMHO, and that's what Karimi deserves at this point of his career with Perspolis under helm of Danizli, a respected old man and am international veteran coach!

                PS
If PP got their assses handed to them then its clearly , for most part, due to AK's absence..!! PP is not even azadegan league worthy without him...!! and i dont know what went down and all the details yet, but i fully agree that it is very inappropriate from him to criticize coach's technical decisions..!! very unprofessional..! but ill wait to hear his side of the story before fully judging him on this matter..!

Let us just say that I do not share your opinion about the grandeur of Ali Karimi and his formidability , irreplaceable and immortal status according to your viewpoint. No disrespect intended , but when you talk about a player in the manner you are describing Karimi , there is little point in debating.

As sure as one can be that the sun will rise tomorrow , one can also assume that Ali Karimi will hit the headlines, for one reason or another.
Granted , Ali Agha has been quiet for some time , after all with age it is natural that a person mellows down a bit , but he is at it again !

It all started during and after the match against Naft. Apparently Karimi was disgusted with some of his teammates in the the locker room during the half time break and made his opinion known quite loudly. That upset Manuel Jose and some of the players that Karimi targeted. To prevent the situation going out of control , Jose calmed the situation and managed to finish the match without losing it. It was apparent that Karimi have not heard the last of the Portuguese veteran coach known for his very tough no-nonsense attitude. What is not known is whether Manuel Jose decided that he does not want Karimi around there and then or whether he discussed the issue with the Club chairman, and if he did , what details he provided or what was his strong case against Karimi?

Anyway , the rest is history. Karimi was not selected for the next crucial match against Sepahan and asked to remain in Tehran to train with the reserve team. After Perspolis returned back from Esfahan with a defeat Karimi came to the training ground and was told by the the coach in a firm manner that he does not want him to be around the team and he should leave.

As always , the exact details are sketchy but what was mentioned here is as close as can be verified to the actual events.

Karimi having a fight, being mischievous , unprofessional , moody and all that jazz is not under scrutiny here, it is a fact of life. What intrigues me here is what are the contributory factors to the plight of Ali Karimi this time. Sure , I would have bet that at some stage , Karimi would have had an argument with Jose and would try to teach him how to do his job , but Karimi is also a smart ass who takes his time and studies the opposite party before he fires. Karimi , throughout his career has been well aware and quite cautious with people that have strong characters. He is no fool and does not directly confront such people.

I suspect that some other factors have gone into this Jose Karimi conflict that has erupted so soon. There are other unseen , intangible events that contributed to this , especially knowing the fact that this was NOT the first time that Jose and the rest of Perspolis players have been on the receiving end of Karimi's lectures and criticism. What has happened that Ali Karimi is a Persona non grata all of a sudden ?

Is this one of the after effects of Queiroz/Jose, far from amicable relations ? Is Karimi victimized in a way?
Is there a power struggle in the team ? Are some players ( and I suspect one particular player indeed) pushing Karimi to confront the coach and the management , while they remain on the sidelines acting innocent and unaware ?

There are many dark sides to these recent developments with Perspolis , Karimi and Jose. Yes, Karimi hardly learns from his mistakes and frankly , he is no where near the player that he was even a couple of years back. I am asking loudly whether there are other factors that brings out the worst of this man. Has he realized that his best efforts is simply not good enough to save Perspolis from the worst era of this famous club , so he vents his frustration off the field? is the frustration with himself has anything to do with his latest outbursts?

                          Stay tuned.

With respect with all opinions...I mustsay,I have never been a fan of Karimi to begin with...even in his prime.....
In my opinion he always was an unfinsihed product...reminded of my time, long time ago, Noori Khoda yari..whow as a khozestaniplayers, who could drible every body around him...the guy was a magician, yet, never a TM material, never abale to work in a team..never, had any good shoots,passes,etc.....just flat dribling....never any substancial contribution to TM.......just dazzeling moves !!
he has never been the one with most goal, the one with best passes,or the most goal,or being best midlfielder,or the best forwards...it always been some one els....
Ali Karimi, only in his older mature age, closning to retirement, has just found out about the value of passing in football in the last three years...
                            ..
Yesterday,...the new national futsal team was selected, and Shamssaaee was not selected.....karimi,is not even as important as Shamssaee for National team ....
Karimi has gootten way too much attention in his footballing years, compare to the acctual, substancial contributions he has had for TM....even more starnge,he himself has believed the attention .

                              Well said Bahram Jan.

I share your views on Karimi. Although , I had admired him on occasions. In reality his only true , yet not always useful , skill was his dribbling ability. Later in his career , he did develop a good eye for passing and I must say that he was pretty good in assists to a certain degree. No doubt that Ali Karimi was one of the better players in Iran , but he never really applied himself to reach his full potential. To be honest , I don't know if he would have been any better than that as he probably has reached the ceiling of his ability while in Bayern Munich. He is one of the moodiest players I have known in Team Melli and I have seen and met many of them ( Not on TV but for real). He can be extremely nice when his mood is right , and pretty arrogant and nasty when in the wrong mood.

I was always puzzled how he has hit the popularity trail for a player who lacks professional ethics and has problems with many people around him , even his closet friends and teammates. However , later on I realized that there is a certain age group that idolizes him. He reminds me of a pop group in the in the late seventies. I was crazy about music (still am , in fact ) and listened to all sort of songs and music. This group calling themselves Bay City Rollers , hit fame in no time. I saw young people nearly trample each other to death during their concerts , they were becoming the Beatles of their era, yet not ONE of their songs was anything to rave about. I use to buy records on weekly basis back then , but never bothered about them. Needless to say that the group faded and lost their fame quicker than a flash. I realized that most of their fans were teenagers who really knew F*** all about real value of music , however what they liked was the group members looks and attire in addition to being suckered by the group media publicists and the media itself trying to create idols so that they can make big bucks on the publicity around them. They were basically hyped up and the kids bought it.

As harsh as it sounds, these are the only things karimi had
                                -Exceptional Touch
                                -Dribbling skills
                                - Vision and prediction
No doubt that he's very talented, but he never knew the right moment to pull the trigger or stop dribbling, the result of a poor environment and lack or training.
( as we all know, they literally found this kid on the street)
However, in more recent years, ( last 3 or 4) he has matured( a bit too late) and now understands that instead of dribbling he should use his game sense to PASS and create chances.

However, ZZ jaan, you went a little far, his passing was always good, and he has scored a good number of goals for TM, but I do totally agree that he's an unfinished product.
