the reason I started the thread was , AS STATED EARLIER, the sudden drop of all pp players immediately after ghotbi's remarks.

who's right, who's wrong, I am not ruling.
but what stood out was this matter that falls very nicely in with the rest of the other examples of personal matters interfering in TM selection.

Actually Daei is doing PP a favour allowing the players to stay with the club instead of playing in a rather meaningless tourney with a C-selection. So this "conspiracy" doesn't make much sense.

        good one.

reminds me of those instances you see in movies or read in books, where the guy is beating the other with a stick and is saying: " this hurts me more than you" !!!!
        hahahaha

A few months ago, Feb 08, Saipa Company's board of directors (the car manufacturing Company not their football club) elected the 28 years old Mehrdad Bazrpash as the new CEO of the company.

I think the recent Saipa's investment in football (signing expensive players and TM's sponsorship) is a direct result of his appointment. Here is an article about him:

Agha Majid (Maij), as you can see it is not SS or PP that is being run by the government.
"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."

You're right, especially if he is going to draw the line right before the requisite 3 to get the match postponed.

Daei is certainly very stubborn and his player selections are personal. No doubt about it. There is a reason why GN came out with what he said asking "why is it that Saipa and Sepahan got enough players invited to postpone their matches?" and then he said it was "mashkook" that Daei's side and Firat (his former assistant) who coaches Sepahan got their matches postponed.

So, clear as day for me with his exlcusions of some players and inclusion of others that things are at a poor state.

HOWEVER, the light at the end of the tunnel seems to be that he is making a big go at trying some youth and getting new names in there and that is a plus.

As if it would be an advantage to get matches postponed. You lose the rhythm and have the replay the match laster (when for Saipa there also will be ACL!) whereas Estghlal, without 2 players, faces Pegah without there best striker. Opposite to SS the likes of Pegah can't compensate such an absence.

Anyway, Daei is cool, because he simply chooses the players he thinks suit best, other people then start to create conspiracies around this decisions. I'm glad Daei didn't return to the pre-Croat times when coaches selected the same number of PP and SS players just in order to avoid critisiscm.

As a TM fan,who believes Daei has been a wrong choice, and unqualified...........
I must admit , many things that he has done right !
                    .................................................. .......................................

1- By, himself being the center of the media attention...he has created a camp without any hashieh around players!

2-He has given chances to new players, more than any TM coach in our history.

3-He, has brought us up to here.

4-He is handling the media very well...how ever, in a antagonistic way.

5-He has created an atmospher ,in which players will try thier best.

6-He is very right,to trying to do away from some over estimated legioners, and he will eventualy bring aboard the good legioners, after trying to see what els is there.

Going through the WAFF games and reflecting on the WCQ's I discovered another thing. First of all, MANY things are "personal" with Daei with respect to TM.

I feel he is trying to prove something ... which by itself isnt that bad. But it shd not get in the way of the TEAM's prospects.

I said with Daei many things are personal becoz when I took a step further back and looked at DAEI'S TEAMS, I noticed a stark similarity between his teams ( selections ) and HIS own characteristics as a player.

Daei was never a highly skillful and fancy football player. never at any point in his career. what he achieved ( and he achieved a lot ) was due to sheer determination and doggedly hard work. as some english may say; very work-man like.
He didnt have ball skills where he could dribble and dispose of batches of opponents.
he wasnt all that great a passer either ... till late in his career anyway, when he actually improved a lot ..... most probably due to hard work and practice, I'm sure.
He was just a bundle of motivation, determination and disciplined hard work. and that's what he looks for and wants in his TEAMS.

We dont see many ( or any ) specialists or skillful players in his selections and choices. Players like karimi, mobaali, kolahkaj, ... in his choices. Shojaei is the SOLE abberration in this rule. But you can find countless players who are mere WORK-HORSES... much like him. almost everyone else is.

what clinched it for me was during the jordan game and how the whole team looked to be with absolutely NO IMAGINATION and creativity , especially in the middle.
yes, in waff, they passed better than before. but I doubt anyone can deny the opponents' utter weakness has a lot to do with it. But in none of the games did we see 'CREATIVITY & IMAGINATION' in the team's moves!

That's why I think this is yet another personal matter with daei and he's trying to make a point for the "work-horses". And that's why I see it a shame, becoz if we add our more skillful and specialist players to this bunch, we can achieve much MUCH MORE than what is this team's present capacity.

remember, we have a phenomenon in Iran where we have houses built by contractors as opposed to architects. both can build houses. but while the contractor's house will be very "functional", it wont be as esthetic and overall scientific ...., the architect's will be far more esthetic, scientific and wholly a more winning choice.

Now, which one of you likes to have his house built by a contractor and not an architect?

He got rid of anyone who has any kind of background and seniorty in the team Melli. Bunch of new comers dont' have the ability to create Hasheiyeh.

I can't beleive he palyed Rahman Ahmadi in this game. It doesn't seem logical that Rahman Ahmadi is being prefered over Taleblou. If he beleived Ahmadi is better than Talebloue (and he is entitled to think so), then he should have invited Ahmadi and not Talebloo. or invite Talbeloo as third goalie.

Then again, descisions by Mr. Daie overall to me (again to me which really doesn't matter) are ver questionable. He let players start in the TM that are on the bench in their own team and now Ahmadi.

Just finished watching the Iran Jordan game. Team didn't play well at all, which doesn't matter really, since this team isn't the team that will play in WC qualification. I am really worried.

there's this insistence that he is compelled to play saipa players ... and not just one or two only !
                          another personal issue !

regarding the talebloo -ahmadi issue, i think he wanted to test both of them and give both of them play time.
just like he invited mirzapour and talebloo in the beginning and gave both of them play time.

i think he was testing them all..

only in Iran would you see a national team having 4-5 players from the absolute BOTTOM-placed team in the league !!! .... while many of the top ranked ones have none !

                              only in Iran !

As I said in the other thread....we, may be, are waisting too much time to find " better Bench players " .....
Our starters need to be settled & starting to play with each other...
It will be a major mistake ,to spend more time, trying to find more new players now ! ...........
There is so little time left, and we still do not know who our starters are,let alone them, played in any friendlies together..............
There is a reason, we always say, " we did not have enough time "....because, we do not do what we should, in, the time given !
