There may be many theories,as how to break the super defense of North Korea.....It is defenetly not as easy as some may think.....
And obviously, the Coach of South Korea could not come up with any answer......nor,did METSU,the french coach of UAE......
I have only one suggestion, that may come handy,if Our firend Human Afazeli , cares to read this post !!!
This may be the only type of a game, that players such as " Ali Karimi " would shine !!!, ...
the North Korean Defense, have thought of anything, and are prepared for any type attacks, for long time.....
But, I do not know, if they have prepered for Karimi's dribblings, and " SOLO " work, inside thier BOX !!!..............and if there will not be any karimi, may be TM should consider, dribbling close to opponanat''s 16&half meter !!!

I am afraid there is not going to be an easy solution for N.K. I too agree
the gol should come from the air. One thing they wont be prepared for
and neither S.Korea nor U.A.E is very good at (like TM) is long range shots.
However if someone like Zare and Nekou just practice taking those long
range shots with Zandi who does these sudden shorter shots from around
the box that can jolt their defence. Germans did wonders in the last WC against
a very tight Ecuoadoreab defence. (Ecuador allowed only 4 goals inspite of
making it to second round, but 2 of the goals were scored by Germans).

Except for Kaabi I would field a very tall squad. Get Ale-Nemeh (who
coincidentally is also good at those long range shots) also in on the left.

The big guys should try to intimidate N.Korea physically (go right to their
strength and try to break them down there). I think N.Korea will be
      our toughest competition.

and the fans will play a role as well I think...90K+ if organized, can influence the Nkoreans, in particular the first 20-25 min of the game.

both bahram and hamid point out at the weaknesses of the opponents that shd be capitalized by daei.

          koreans are
1- shorter than us - which means we can do a lot on crosses and freekicks ( as we've done in our previous meetings )
having wide players is an absolute must. players who can cross and do it as many times as possible to keep the koreans on their toes all the time, and hence tired by second half.

2- less physical - which we can wrestle & bully away the midfield from them.

3- less technical - which gives us the upper hand with players like shojaei, karimi, ... to either penetrate their packed defense or win freekicks around their 18.
we must have a few freekick options. just following one routine wont get us anywhere.

4- they are fast and may rely on speed of the game.
we can easily counter it with a measured "ball possession" tactic where it is WE who dictate the pace of the game as WE like.
which means we shd not have players who lose the ball easily. turn-overs mean great danger for us. just picking "names" will not do.
if ando isnt in form, let him sit it out.

5- a packed defense , as mentioned by hamid and bahram, begs a shooting strategy also.
if not the power of the shot, we can always rely on imminent deflections of the ball as it goes through a crowd of ppl in front of the goalie.
so the more shots taken, the higher the chance for either scoring straight or off a deflection.
we SHOULD see at least 6-7 good shots fired at them. minimum.

          --------------

there's no need to get deep into player selection.
as long as we make sure the players who arent in form arent playing.
also the players who have high turn-overs
and those who cant cross well

instead we shd rely on those who can:
          - shoot,
          - take freekicks and show variations in them
          - cross well and do it as many times as possible,
          - who can pass correctly
          - keep the ball possession,
          - and a few physical guys to win the ball for us,
          - a few tall guys is necessary for corners and freekicks.

we have enough players with such characteristics that gives any coach a free hand in choosing the best.

EDIT: In case it is not clear from context, I am talking Maziar Zare not the "left back"
            wannabe.

Not very optimist about Iran's offense, so have to agree with our chances being mostly from set pieces (corner or free kicks).
              N. Korea has a very good target forward number 12 don't remember his name, in the game against South Korea. He was good in the air, was able to hold on to the ball until the N.Korea midfield be added.

One thing about South Korea now, they didnt' have their 3 legioners in the game against N. Korea. Does anyone know if they will join the South Korean team later? It seemed the guy who play in the Man United is injured (is his name Park J soong?)?
"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."

Nasser Hejazi was the Takhti of our football.
