well, it certainly stands out as odd that everytime we get near a major campaign or tournament, our stars fall ill or get injured or ... .

perhaps its the lack of discipline in fitness maintenance or as you all said, it's the lack of fundamental work during the formative years. or in some cases, it's the over-reliance on a select few with over-usage of them ( example branko ) in the run up to these campaigns or tournaments.

This issue of player burn out isn't just in our football, it is an issue across major pro sport, Russian and other Europan hocky players who come to NHL suffer from the sheer number of hocky gams in NHL. Same in general is true with the European players who come to NBA.

Don't know what is the issue honestly. Money and pro sport has promoted the sport a lot on the other hand, it has its side effects. For example EUFA based players at times have to play in 3 even 4 tournaments (Championship league, local league, cup league and FIFA world cup league). This kind of pressure is killing the players. That is why Arsen Wenger for example works so much on the mental side and emotional freshness of his players.

Emotional toughness and mental strength of a player is a key factor here.
"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."
