But what I looked at was how he defended, tackled, ran back and covered.
basically assessing the raw material that needs to settle in an international arena.
in the first half he was brilliant.
and his only negative in the second half was when the whole team lost focus and he had one turn-over and once he took his eyes off the ball and he ball ran away, but he gathered it immediately anyway.
basically, he was fast & quick ( zareh is not ), he passed well ( zareh doesnt ), he marked well ( zareh doesnt ), he wasnt muscled out of a ball and he looked comfortable in that post ( zareh doesnt ) , I assume becoz it IS his post at the club too ( zareh's isnt ).

this is what I'm talking about.
I understand the urge to persist with & support the "party line" though

It is my absolute belief that a Team that wants to be a force to reckoned with , it must have several options in each position. Daei , recognizes this fact very well and hence his trial of so many Players.

But trial of players and obsession with one or two that do not deliver , does not necessarily mean that the next guy is the the saviour. In Ashjari's case , I still beleive that the Jury is out.....I would have loved to see him perform to the highest standard , but one match and a friendly for that is insuffcient to put a judgment. I did not see him the way that the Doc has and rather than following the party line , it could have been something to do with the obsession about Zare, could it be ?

BTW: How come his karate kick was put to inexperience , yet he managed to perform everything else immaculately !!! It seems like a contradiction to me.

That said , players like Ashjari , Nouri , Jamshidian and Zare are essential for Team Melli to try in the hope of forming a formidable team.

      - I agree that any team ought to have at least 2 good players for each post.
      absolutely correct.

      - No. not a "savior". but 10 times more effective.
and it was already mentioned that we shd wait and see the next game to make a more concrete opinion on him.
But we shd be elated to see someone who CAN defend better, who runs faster, who marks better, ... than the usual chap chosen for whatever c0ckamamie reasons. it's a great starting point is all.

        Negative points:

1, Ka’abi is in his down side, he needs to be benched for Gholam-nejad.

2, Although, Hosseini/Ghorbani combo showed a better ball distribution this time than last game, They are still far behind international level for ball distribution.

That’s it, there was no more.

        Positive points:

It was a beautiful game displayed by the team.

1, Nouri showed a good performance. He is ready to lead the team in my book.

2, Ashjari/hajsafi combo in the left was pleasure to watch, however Ashjari was way nerves due to his first game and trying too much to prove himself. He showed he is comfortable with ball and he has the paste required for the left back, however, he barely moved forward which again I blame it as it was his first game.

3, I should mention Hajsafi again as he defiantly earned a spot in the first team with his move, passes, shots and crosses. He showed he is comfortable being in left, right or center. He only needs to show up more for the rebounds/second waves around the box (this was the problem for all three midfielders).

4, Borhani/Rezaei combo seems to work pretty good. Both are fast, and extremely technical, they only need to know each other a bit better. If they had midfielders' support as the second wave, the result was different than what we saw. It’s pleasure to watch them.

5, Rezaei is getting better and better every game. He only needs to work on his left kicks.

6, Abbasfard showed he is committed to the task and he can be reliable center-forward incase we need to play with one stationary position. However, I still miss Khalili.

7, The most important part, the coaching staff showed they know what they do. They never lost their control of the game, even with two players down. They had a strategy for every portion of the game and chose the right tactics to implement them. I can see how careful they were with their selections. I particularly congratulate them for bringing motivation to the team which forces every single player work so hard to earn a spot in the team including the bench.

        Cheers,

I meant the one replaced for Borhani. I am sure you are more precise than me.

Since I didn't talk about Jamshidian and Maziar Zare, I think both of them were average, they might be good on the bench, nothing special from them.

            Cheers,

Don't come with lack of experience as justification for Ashjari's kick. This dude is playing pro football for some time now, does he need 100 caps to realize he must not kick his opponent?

Anyway, this was just one scene (although one more stupid than anything I saw from Zare in the whole last year), and apart from that he was ok, not more.

Let's see if he can still slightly improve against China which would make him a serious contender for LB.

Here you sounded DD with his obsession on Zare. Giving you the credit, when you said "the goal came from Ashjari's side and if it was Zare instead, DD was going to ..." was classic.

Jigar tala, the guy seemed 18-19 years old dude, in the first minute of his international game. He even might be the first time steps outside of Iran.... and he went for the ball, with too much spice though.

hala, shoma rezaiat bede, inghade Zare joonam Zare joonam nakon aziz. This new guy looked cool on the pitch, even I liked his hair style.
