mohammadi is sepahan's no1 keeper.
im also not sure why the heck Daei invites him, he obviously has build a strong relationship with him while he was at Saipa, that could be the only reason why he is invited.
He's not that good to be in TM.

mohamadi got injured against saipa os ahmadi is playing from then on.
he's conceded some silly goals.
there are better keepers daei can invite. but anyway it doesnt matter much since rahmati and taleblo are our top2.

Now, looking at these names, I can pretty confidently say we're not going to do much in terms of direct free kicks.
and before anyone says "bagheri", I'd like to remind them of his very low percentage and the uni-dimensional "whacking of the ball".

None of these ppl have any kind of technique in taking direct ones like zandi or mobaali. So it's going to be "mohkam bezan, baadesh be amaan-e khoda"

So my guess is we're going to use most our direct kicks as indirect ones !!
unless someone says "let me whack it and hope for the best"!!!!

I sincerely hope we have a few different scenarios & plans for the indirect ones. some combos here and there, maybe.
We havent scored many goals off set pieces against BIG teams. scoring against weak teams is a different matter. Koreans have seen it all and have done it all. So it's not going to be as easy as kuwait, singapore or palestine or ... .

In case anyone had any doubts as to whether Daei likes to apply some width to his team or not, this is the clincher!!!

Take out one of the wide players who's been doing quite well in the league and the whole season, for that matter, and bring in yet another def-mid ... after calling nekounam, bagheri, rahmati and M. zareh, now we have kazemi to add to the bunch !!!

My question is why shd Heidari, who would have given a new dimension to the team ( especially in absence of kia - another illogical decision ) be removed?
I can think of a direct switch, if Daei's so enamored by kazemi. a switch with either rahmati or zareh ( I'd say bagheri, but we know that's one major hole daei's dug for himself )
or hey, why not the floundering sattar zareh ?
coz given zareh's stats at LB, almost ANY player from any other position can emulate those stats.

On our last game.....against UAE,if I am not mistakeing.......,Shojaee was given a direct kick out side of 18, and although it went out side the box.....but the kick was amazingly technical....he chiped the ball,while he was standing, and his chip ,to my surprize had too much speed....
apparantly he had learned that ,in osasuna training camp..since I had not seen similar kind kicks from him or any one els in TM before......
Zandi and Mobalee and Shojaee, are the best we have currantly....and Shojaee,is the only one who is playing !

yes but the freekick was placed right above the keeper's head in the middle of the goal so it was easy for the keeper to save it.
we need players like zandi, mobali....who specialise in freekick taking.

Shojaei scored a couple of goals in UAE league the same way, even Karimi did that few time in UAE league. It is all about surprising the goalkeeper, and given that Asian keepers are usually week, this kind of free kick works.

I think it is high time we stopped slotting players from australia, ksa, japan and korea in the same category as ASIA.

... or at least lets not speak of the rest of asia and these 4 teams in the same breath. They all have shown to be a class above asia and often on par with many other parts of the world.
I wouldnt be really surprised to see these guys beat half of european teams anyway. So lets make this distinction.

so catching some half arsed uae league keeper off guard when you put the ball in the middle of the goal is one thing, trying to catch korean keepers that way is another.

like it or not, shojaei is NOT a set piece specialist. for every one of these goals, we can recall 5 others who have gone wayward, too high or too low or just wasted .... remember those corners he used to take where each one ended up with the very FIRST defender deflecting it ?
at one point or another almost ANY player would have scored one goal or another off set pieces. But that doesnt make them specialists.
I can name guys like alavi, s zareh, sadeghi, .... score goals off them. But they are definitely NOT specialists.

the problem is we make Gods of those players playing in europe with little heed of what their actual capabilities are, and then put down players in Iran.
a fit Navidkia can run circles around the likes of shojaei.
a jabbari is far more productive to a TEAM than a shojaei, who is basically a young karimi who's more individualistic than a team player.
neither are playing in europe. but they can kick any of the europe legionnaires' arse any day in style and productivity.

by the same token, in set pieces, players who havent been called like kia, mobaali, zandi and even kazemian can outscore the likes of whom have been called by 3 folds ... EASILY.
