TM and Rezaei's suspension against Korea

Given that Rezaei is suspended against Korea, I wonder how much useful it is to use him against the Thais, which is a mini-warm up game for the Korea game.
We all agree that the Korea game ( WC qualifiers ) is far more important and crucial to IRAN than the Thai game, in a preliminary round where 2 teams out of 4 will advance to the next round of Asia Cup qualifiers. So this game shd be a rehearsal for the bigger one, using players who are allowed to play against Korea.
Whether we win, draw or even lose ( highly improbable ) to the Thais, we shd keep our eyes on the BIG PICTURE and not be penny-wise pound-foolish.
We have salehi, borhani, akbarpoor, ... . we better use these guys to allow them to pair up for the big game. It'll be a bad decision to use rezaei and waste another 90 minute opportunity

I would love to see Borhani given a full 90 minutes against a decently formidable (though still, weak...) opponent. I don't think this is the same team we tied ages ago in Azadi and we should definitely at least get a draw0, but we'll see.

Either way, Borhani deserves it given his recent form. Using Rezaei, as you've mentioned, would be totally wasting a good chance to see who can be a supporting/2nd/3rd striker.
We thank and support Mr.Kamran Delan for many years of dedication and service to Iranian Football Community.

I agree, but since the legionairs are missing, this is not going to be a real test for Korea anyway. So I guess he will be playing.

I some times wonder, Payman Jaan, if that should realy be the case.......
I think, may be TM,in general has taken Asian games for granted, while it is very important to Likes of japan, and south Korea....
We may need to " Master " ASIA , and let , the " WC ", will be taken cared of, by itself !!!

          well said Doctor jan,
As Daei said himself, this could be regarded as a preparatory match for us, so why not trying other combination as mentioned above?

speaking of korea game, I must say knowing that korea uses the width extremely well, I am very concerned how we're going to counter it.

knowing daei, with return of shojaei, he's going to be put on the right, and keep khalatbari on the left mid.
if this happens, then both ashjari and kaabi are going to get slaughtered by the koreans! .... with no help coming in from RM and LM in defending.

if he calls kia, he'd most probably push shojaei to the left !!!
            which ensures ashjari's demolition !

            ---------------

2- can bagheri effect anything against the koreans?
he is slow. his form fluctuates these days.
            he also is no playmaker.
but his name is big enough.... too big to sit on the bench at the start of the game !!!

sigh! what a mess daei created for himself by calling bagheri !!!!!!

            ----------------

3- who's going to be the central defense ?
both aghili & hosseini are suspect on pace

montazeri perhaps ? or Asadi ?
but why did daei WASTE the singapore ( or/and even thailand ) game(s) and didnt try these guys to see their ability to adapt to speedy strikers ?
yet another wasted opportunity , due to lack of experience and fore-sight !

            -----------------

4- who are our strikers ?

it's a home game. so we cant afford to play a defensive game. we HAVE TO win this one.
so why did rezaei play against thailand and we wasted another opportunity to see who is our pair up front against korea?
or are we to expect VH to waltz in and start ... especially when he's been in piss-poor form for months now?

why so many wrong decisions ?

Wheter suspended for the Korea game or not, it was wrong to play the Rezaei-Borhani combination against Thailand anyway imo. I mean if Thailand's games would've been analyzed properly, we would've known that they have very speedy players at the back, who, as we've whitnessed, kept standing very well against Rezaei/Borhani, who's main strength is their speed.

It was obvious from the start that Bagheri wasn't in the game, which is vital if you want to feed your speedy forwards with good balls. Daei should've reacted faster and better in those situations.

I hope Daei has learned some lessons from the Thai game, but I'm afraid we'll gonna be dominated at home against the Koreans.

Btw, what worried/surprised me the most was the fact that Daei actually thought that we played a good game. Ok the humidity/weather was tough, but damn, I've never seen a 3rd level Asian team dominate us like the Thai's did
Persian Pride running through my veins!

              Esteghlal for life!!

Yeah pretty much. It's probably gonna look like it did against the Saudis in the first half, only difference would be that Koreans won't run out of steam after 60 minutes like Saudi did.

Yes unfortunately, Karim is not in a condition to be playing for both club and country. He could be a golden sub though if brought on late to mount pressure, specially through areal balls.

Baba delet khoshe to ham ha. Not even a miracle would make Daei let anyone but the pair of Aghili- Hosseini play. Poor Montazeri didn't even get a chance in the meaningless friendlies, which is real damn shame, because he stands out from all the other current invited defenders by having decent ball control and actually using his brain! But Daei has shown that he prefers pure muscle power over intelligence, that's why when even Aghili wasn't available Montazeri didn't get a chance but Ghorbani or Bengar did.

At this time with the way things are going, it doesn't make any difference who the strikers are. Because it's not like we are piling up goal chances one after another and waste them. With no decent attack buildups, bad passing and crossing and the alarmingly slow pace of the team as a whole, you can put Van Nistelroy, Eto'o and Ronaldo up there and they wouldn't do jack, because they'd have to get some balls to work with, wouldn't they?

Exactly Amin jan and it was not the first time. Now, I hate repeating myself, but I thought we had a specialist for analysis in the staff, someone who actually officially worked as the analyzer in TM before?

I'm not very optimistic about the SK game. We will get our arses kick really bad. Not because our squad is weak, but because we don't use our players correctly.

We have a captain who's time has passed a long time ago. He has a great vision, but he is slow. As already mentioned, Daei made a big mistake by calling Bagheri back to TM. Bagheri made the bigger mistake by accepting the invitation. We will need somebody who has a lot of speed and pace, Bagheri is not that player. I think it will be wise to use either Shojaei or Jabbari (if fit) at AMF position and to put Madanchi (who has speed, which can help in both offense and defense) as our left winger. Use Mehdi as our right winger. We all know this won't happen, because of Bagheri's status and name. He will be playing as our AMF till the 60-70th minute and at that point everyone will be playing in their own position (the same thing was at Daei's era).

Taking a look at our defense:
We have two defenders who are strong, but slow. Hosseini and Aghili are the defenders Daei used as his first choice. Personally I think it will be good to put Aghili on the bench, not only because he is the same type of defender that Hosseini is, but also the only way Aghili can play is "bekesh ziresh", good old-fasshion Ali Asghari football. That kind of football against a fast, speedy team is the path of hell. We need to play it on the ground and I think we should play Montazeri (if fit) as our 2nd centre-back.

We will not have Rezaei against SK. I don't have a problem with that. This guy hasn't proved anything, except for scoring some lazy cheap goals against some 3rd and 4th rated asian countries, khaste nabashe. This guy has scored 5 goals in 21 appearances in the IPL. Not really a overwhelming rate ha? He can't even score against the IPL defenders, what should we expect from him to do against the KSA, UAE, NK, SK defenders? That's right, NOTHING. Just like he didn't do anything in the past few games for WCQ. He wasnowhere to be seen, he could've scored the winning goal in Dubai but he rather dived than score for his nation. Good job my friend.

I think Borhani and Hashemian will be paired upfront. Maybe Akbarpour - Borhani will be effective as well. Even though im not really satisfied with Akbarpour, maybe he will do good against SK, next to his known partner Borhani. Even if Jabbari is added to them, this will help TM, because they already know how to play the ball to eachother, they don't need to get used to eachother, which is a positive thing, that will help TM a lot (only if Daei will open his eyes to see this).

The very simple and vivid fact is, whether we beat Korea or not, we're still gonna get our behinds kicked in WC by Mexico, Portugal, Germany, etc.

take it easy man, lets do it step by step.
first lets see if we qualify, its not an easy task but we can do it even though we're not playing that great but we're still good enough to qualify.
with these new guys in TM and a motivated staff in TM, we may actually break the jinx and get past the group.

Rezaei missing is a huge loss for us....the guy is a fighter if nothing else and that is something we really really could use against Korea...regardless, I agree with most of you that this will be a very tough game, make no mistake, the fact that is in Azadi won't make Korea any weaker of an opponent, maybe for the first 20 min, but once they Koreans get comfortable with the field and the atmospher, they be coming at us like they did to the Saudies, quick, with care and will read our mind pretty quickly. I do not want to see only our 2nd home loss ever in Azadi, but it looks 50-50 to me, even tho we are the hosts.
The best of luck to Team Melli and the boys,,,we need to be at our best, of course that means Rahmati mainly lol but we should also let the Azadi grass grow a little bit maybe to make it harder for the Koreans lol

TM list was announced today and again I'm struck by Daei's choices in some areas.

as usual, our great coach shows he doesnt believe in nor does he like WIDTH in his offense ! It's quite clear what he has in mind and who he's going to deploy for RM and LM.
The absence of wide offensive players like KIA & MADANCHI also confirms this belief.
imo, pretty bad decision as this is a HOME GAME for us and we NEED to at least go after the 3 points.

                          -----------

Again, I'm amused and tickled by calling S. zareh to TM!
It's like no matter what happens or who is there, S zareh HAS TO BE THERE !!!!!!!
even when he isnt in form or his club is in relegation zone, after leading the table for great many weeks. talk about a nose dive in quality !!! hah!
But it seems that doesnt matter to our coach! S zareh has become something like shoes. you gotta have shoes to go play football. and you gotta have zareh in the team as well !!!!!!!!!!!

Why not guys like alenemeh or feshangchi or .... ?
he could have used them against thais and singapore to see if they're good alternatives to ashjari, who's established himself as LB, ... and rightfully so too.

                          ------------

                          and thirdly, bagheri's still there.
and frankly, I dont know what daei's going to do about this.
this is a hole he dug for himself, and he has to get himself out of it. the sooner, the better.
somehow he has to get the guts to admit he was wrong ( yes, inspite of the bagheri goals ) and apologize to karim and get the good of TM back on track.
It will be very difficult, I admit. But the TEAM's more important than inter-personal relationships ( something that daei has mixed w the team-business ! )

personally, given the koreans' organization and speed, I'd have opted for Ando, instead of karim.
even if he's been away for sometime. but it seems he's fit & ready. and that is more useful than an aging bagheri, against a highly professional and speedy team like korea.

The rest of the picks are fine and quite predictable.

Lets hope Rahmati is in top form, though.

But seriously, ... what on earth is daei's excuse for not calling KIA, this time?

what c0ckamamie reason we're going to be fed?
first it was "kia doesnt fit into tactics" !!!!! LOL
                            then, it was being injured
then it was sitting on bench

then suddenly, we see kia in TM, INSPITE of being on the bench and TM's supposed tactics.

Really ... just what is bugging daei with his peculiar & oft irrational selection criteria?
or what is he trying to "prove" ??

TM is no place for "getting even in personal matters" with ppl.

That too, not against some 3rd rate team. It's south korea we're talking about.
who's gonna do what Kia does at TM ... which is classy offense as well as defense ? G-nejad? LOL ... dream on. the lad has developed a total FEAR of touchlines on opponent's 1/3rd!!!
shojaei? defending? the guy has mistaken defending with "getting cards"!!
                            who then?

against Korea, we'd need a level head on the flanks, which is where korea's strength is.
if anything, the flanks shd NOT be surrendered to them. if it happens, they'll kill us!
so the players we choose for the flanks are of utmost importance.

as for daei's illogical selection method, I squarely put it on his inexperience and mixing irrelevant personal matters in his TM business. absolutely.
He shd have wiser and more fair advisers around him to remind him whenever he commits an error or a mis-step. He'd need ppl like Hajrezaei, Mohasess, .... on TM advisory board to keep him in line.
