    Has Iranian Football degraded !!

1- We have droped from 15 th rank to 46,in FIFA ranking.
2-We are no longer mentioned for the top 3 teams of Asia .
3-Our legioners in Europe are less, and those who remain are less important.
4-Our Persian Gulf legioners ,are so many, yet, while they have ,indirectly, dammaged our football by leaving,do not seem to be improveing thier own football skills either.
5-We have been getting less satisfactory results in asian matches.
6-Many new teams in Asia , seems to be improveing faster than we are.
7-Domestic ,issues have not improved, and the IFF realy has not decieded to choose a path with Foreign coaches or Domestic coaches.
8-Our fans seem to be resigned to the authurities, and thier demands matter the less and less.
9-Other than old time distant memories of Asian Championships,we realy have not done anything to be proud of recently,...nor that trend appear to be improveing in near future !
10-Are Ali Daei and this IFF, the answers?

well since iranian football has always heavily relied on individual brilliances of players, when an era comes where the talent isnt as rich as before (like now compared to the kia, daei, bagheri, azizi, hashemian, karimi generation),,, this is wat happens....

on the other hand, teams like japan who are more reliant on team work and discipline and less hit by a drought in talent pool...

Well said, yashar jaan.......but does that mean, Iranian football has no style of its own ?....and if so, that will be the case for our domestic coaches as well !!!and if so,.. does not it , make it more neccessary to have foreign coaches who would give Iranian football ,the style it does not have, and can not supply from within ?

I dont think football, in general, has regressed in Iran.
Coz it's not only TM that ought to be the gauge for progress in football.

I'd say our football ( clubs, youth, infrastructure, admin, professionalism, facilities, ... all included ) has progressed ... albeit in a painfully slow pace.

There are areas where things havent exactly kept pace with this progress or have been static , but then , there are other areas that have aided the trend.

I'd say our youth football has improved. Not only the WC qualification, but I feel the overall structure of youth football has improved.

I'd also say our club football is on the right track and is progressing at a somewhat fare pace. Not quick enough, but we're getting there. The way our lesser know club,s players, coaches, ... have shown maturity and drive is testament to it.

While, on the other hand, I fear on a more specific and minute level, Iran faces a drought of capable strikers in its clubs and TM ... as well know. And woefully, there is no end in sight either!
I dont see many great prospects in our youth.
the few who did do something were more or less flashes in a pan and nothing more!

In the end, I must say we COULD have progressed far more, given our potential.
And our typical Iranian attitude and laziness or un-professionalism has hindered its pace. But there is hope.
Coz man without hope is a man empty of purpose and meaning.

I don't think it's that negative. I think the standard of the league has improved, thanks to the introduction of the professional league some years ago.

We did ok in almost all Asian competitions and in 2008 for the first time we won a youth title (U16).

We are currently unbeaten in WCQ and occupy a direct qualification spot.

So I don't think we're on the way down, although I guess we all agree the full potential is not utilized.

You may very well be correct...as one may even say...IFF,is the most well managed organization is IRAN ( Compaire to other organizations in IRAN ), and The league is more competetive, and the youth of Iran, as Payman said, has had good results lately...and same with Footsal, and beach football !!!
            ........
            But.....
Has mass immigration of football players to Other countries ,had any negative influence ?.will that immiration ever stop ?......
Is there anything behind the Shortage of talents , these days ? or there is nothing to it ?
Has there been a change in the commitment of Islamic Republic in Advanceing football in IRAN ?...and does that matter ?
Will a slower rate of improvements in football, compaire to Other Asian nations, matter ?
Will it be neccessary for advancement of our football, to have a " Doctorin " ?and a set " style " ?.....
Does IFF , need to make of its mind as to use Foreign coaches or not ?....or alternating coaches would be fine ?
Will our clubs be proffesional ?, or Islamic republic will never give in ?...and will that matter in future ?

Very interesting points from everyone here, but i would like to pose another question:

Has Iranian NT football really progressed over the last 35 years?

My answer is no, b/c we still only beat Asian teams, we haven't advanced passed the 1st stage of the WC, and we have yet to beat a viable and strong European team.

We over-analyse our football. Just look at the number of media, programs, sites, forums,... who analyse some thing who never been any thing to begin with.

morche chie keh kaleh pache-ash bashe.

PS: Above isn't direct response to the current post, I didn't want to open a new thread. My apologie to dear ZZgolo.

But, in my humble opinion, the number one reason for any country's improvement in any sport, even more important than " Money ", is this " expectation " of ours !!.....it is always the fans level of expectations in all countries and in all sports, that is the main push toward improvement !!
I have never, ever seen any example to the contrary !
