yes, they are regularly playing alongside wach other.

but "chemistry" ?
I hope you do know this "chemistry" means a lot of covering each other, knowing each other's game so well that when one moves up or out of position, automatically the other surrounding players know where and how to adapt and position themselves.
and ....etc.
coz I see such mistakes being committed in each and every game ... and with alarming frequency !!
they have worked well?

I hope you are not referring to games against teams like guam, laos, n korea, ... coz I dont need to remind you what kind of teams we'll be facing at the WC !
even angola is head and shoulders above 95% of teams we have faced in the past 2 years.
or did you mean good chemistry, referring to players being pally and friendly with each other off field ?

can the defense become better?
why not.
when we have the majority of defenders on slow motion speed, adding aspeedy , younger player DOES make it better.
when we have a set of defenders who either dont read the game well, or if they do, they are out of form or just plain lazy to bother with improvement, then adding a new defender like bagheri or fekri DOES make it better.
and so on .... etc.

maybe watch 2-3 TM games ..... and I say it here:
ANY 2-3 games of the past 2 years.
even including their one and only good performance ( japan in azadi ) and dissect & observe the team for :
1- teamwork
2- cohesion
3- team tactics
THEN , we'll talk about chmistry, being solid, .... .
