Arrest of Sports journalists and ... in Iran

I'm not well up on this , but in the past few days there's been a lot of talk about the arrest of many journalists who have become brokers and go-betweens ( Dallal ) for many players, clubs, coaches, ... etc.

I'm surprised nobody has even noticed or talked about this here!

I think this topic deserves the kind of "investigative journalism" we saw in ghotbi's case.

Apparently the arrests are not over yet and there are more names connected to this issue.

What I'm amazed by is that these reporters have such huge connections. It seems IFF could maybe learn a thing or two from these punks about networking!

But seriously this hasn't been surprising. Sport media is probably one of few areas in Iran where media is more free (compared to economic and political media). Because of this there is also a lot less monitoring and you can clearly see biases in papers towards certain players, coaches, teams... even though results may say otherwise. I can remember the negative influence of sports media (especially papers like Khabar Varzeshi) which basically criticized their enemies to the point of destruction (ie: during the WC 2002 qualification even after Iran won games in Baghdad or beat Saudi).

What the story , Doc?

I have been busy lately and must have missed this episode. I have a keen interest in the sport journalism in Iran and have many friends in that circle.

If there is one word that can describe the sport journalism in Iran from my perspective , this would be " intriguing "

It is a mixture of "Godfather" , "Dallas" , "Sopranos" , "Coach" but with Persian flavor.......Like to know what is happening there...Please update us if you have any further info...

I have only a little which is in the original post.
basically, a lot of editors, journalists and ... do the job of "power brokers" and Dallals for various players, teams, coaches, in things like fixing line ups, match fixing, player selection, ... etc

some have been found out and have been arrested and the process is still going on with more possible arrests on the cards.

YOU guys who are closer to Iran ought to know more and hear more.

just an update: apparently, not all the journalists involved are residing within Iran !! and some are quite well known, is my understanding.
Some are believed to be living outside Iran ( persian gulf and usa )!!

hmm..... it gets more interesting by the minute.

معاون امنيت دادسراى تهران:
جريانى آلوده به اخاذى و دلالى
از ورزشكاران كشف شد
ايران ورزشى- حدود دو هفته پيش اخبارى پيرامون مطبوعات ورزشى و دستگيرى عده اى از افراد سودجو به دليل تعيين نتايج مسابقات فوتبال، رشوه گيرى و مسائلى از اين دست به گوش رسيد اما اين اخبار و شايعات به صورت رسمى از سوى مقام هاى قضايى تأييد نشد.
چند روز قبل حتى خبر آزاد شدن اين افراد كه گفته مى شد در بين آنها چند روزنامه نگار ورزشى و فوتبال نويس حضور دارند نيز به گوش رسيد اما اين خبر نيز هرگز تأييد نشد.
از دو هفته پيش درباره صحت و سقم اين خبر و مسائل پيرامونى آن شايعات زيادى به گوش رسيد اما قاضى حداد معاون امنيت دادسراى عمومى و انقلاب تهران در گفت و گويى با ايسنا تا حدود زيادى اين مسأله را موشكافى كرد و درباره جزييات آن توضيح داد.
قاضى حداد با اعلام اين خبر كه جريانى آلوده به اخاذى و دلالى از ورزشكاران كشف شده درباره بازداشت تعدادى از خبرنگاران ورزشى و اين كه در اين رابطه ۶ نفر دستگير شده اند، گفت: با اطلاعاتى كه توسط سازمان اطلاعات استان تهران به دست آمد، جريانى آلوده در مباحث ورزشى كشف شد و گزارشى مفصل در اين رابطه مبنى بر اخاذى و دلالى از بازيكنان و مربيان تيم هاى ورزشى، به مرجع قضايى ارسال شد.
حداد در ادامه گفت: اين افراد با قصد اخاذى ، اقداماتى را در مطبوعات ورزشى انجام مى دادند. از جمله اين كه يك بازيكن را چهره و در صورت همراهى نكردن وى، او را مورد تخريب قرار مى دادند آنها با اخاذى هايى كه انجام مى دادند، اقدام به جابه جايى بازيكنان ورزشى به ويژه در حوزه فوتبال كرده و پول هاى بسيار زيادى را از اين طريق به دست مى آوردند. در اين پرونده بحث خبرنگارى مورد نظر نيست و اتهام اين افراد كه بعضا خبرنگار بودند، جرم عمومى بوده و ارتباطى با حرفه آن ها ندارد.
معاون امنيت دادسراى تهران با بيان اين كه از اين افراد اطلاعات بسيار خوبى به دست آمد، افزود: تعدادى ديگر در اين رابطه شناسايى شدند و ان شاءالله با همكارى سازمان اطلاعات استان تهران، پاكسازى خوبى در فضاى ورزشى به ويژه در فوتبال به وجود خواهد آمد.
وى گفت: احتمالاً بعضى از اين افراد با تبديل قرار طى چند روز آينده آزاد خواهند شد.
حداد همچنين در قسمتى ديگر از صحبت هاى خود گفت: در اين پرونده ورزشكاران و مربيانى مورد اخاذى قرار گرفته و شاكى پرونده هستند. اقدامات ديگرى نيز از سوى اين افراد صورت گرفته كه در فرصت زمانى مناسب نسبت به آن ها اطلاع رسانى صورت خواهد گرفت. بعضى از باشگاه هاى ورزشى پول هاى بسيار زيادى به اين افراد مى دادند و حدود يك سال و نيم است كه سازمان اطلاعات استان تهران بر روى اين پرونده كار كرده است.
