I agree, daei generally speaking, had a sound idea of slowly replacing the old guard with the new talent.
I dont think ANYone had any problem with this.

His problem was parallel to this valuable philosophy, he mixed his personal issues and showed a lot of lajbaazi ( closest to this term I could find was irrational stubbornness ) which was finally his downfall !

I must say the latter part again is speculation.

The Karimi issue surely wasn't a Daei issue. Karimi is past his prime, even keyplayers in their prime are sometimes kept out (eg. Al Qahtani), Karimi had beef with IFF, then stepped down and at the point of announcing his comeback was not fit and probably only playing under heavy pain with injections.

Mobali is simply lacking quality (I know some who see that differently are of course smelling a personal issue).

The the only further case of "personal issues" coming to my mind would be Rezaei. Rezaei never showed up to one of the first Ali Daei camps and didn't answer his phone. I think that usually rules out a player and isn't a personal issue but a disciplinary one. Apart from that, it might also be that based on sole sporting decisions some coaches might feel he shouldn't be incldued, especially in the context of a generation change.

So what other (alledged) personal issues are left?

I think we shouldn't come up with such claims that easily. They sometimes base on no more than personal assumptions and due to constant repeating turn into facts for some.

One more thing that I forgot to mention and after weeks of ACL games and TM games has been proven again and again is that our analyzing of the opponents has been dismal and poor.

our teams ( be it TM or ACL clubs ) hardly know their opponents and they've shown to be surprised by the opponents' star performers or key players or signature tactics or strengths!!!

generally speaking, we've been caught off guard way too many times by such matters that a team with good pre-game analysis and scouting would have been more prepared and ready for.

I mean how difficult is it to REALLY OBSERVE ( not merely watch ) a few of opponents' games and figure out their style, their moves, their key players ( who shd be marked closely ), ... etc etc ????
whereas all our opponents have done their home work on us and have usually come up the better in preparations!!!

        ================

and this abysmal state of analysis does not limit itself to figuring out the opponent's strenghts and key players or tactics. it is also OUR OWN weaknesses that have gone unheeded and untouched.
hence we see repetition of the same mistakes game after game!!!

for example, lets take our poor marking in the box, especially in set pieces & corners. ALL our ACL clubs AND TM have suffered from this ... game after game!

we simply cannot afford to be this pathetic and poor in this matter if we want to make something out of ourselves in asia!!

I wrote my suggestion for TM in football forum too :

for fast stability, and improveing performance.... Team of four coaches:

          Dr.Z = Head coach
          Ghotbi & RotteMuller = Assistants

Well, you can't chose the assistants for the headcoach.

Not that I would agree on the selection of coach and assistants .

You mean, if , IFF Demands such team from them, ...they will refuse ?

Yes, I think most of them will.

I think most are chosing their own teams. Often also a parti bazi issue. They bring their assistants along with them wherever they go. I mean their friends have to live from something .

And of course they are already a good team most of the time. I doubt any coach will agree to get an assistant assigned by the Federation. Working with someone they don't know at all. They might completely disagree on basic issues as well.

I know many cases in which coaches refused assigned or proposed assistants. Maybe there are some accepting (otherwise there wouldn't repeatedly be such proposal to deny I guess ), but I guess most won't.

Martin jaan...what you are saying could be true......

                  yet,
                  .........................

1- RotteMuller, already has contract with IFF, and Ali daei was not his cousin...and does not appear ,he would mind being assistant of TM under another coach, and may prefer it over currant undefined situation for him.

2- Ghotbi, by now has understood, IFF does not want him at head coaching position, yet he had offered to help for free, and does not have any job...and appeared he wants to help.may want to redeem himelf in Iran.

3- Dr.Z is the most mature coach, and the least egoistic of the all....and he gets to be the head coach.
                  .........................................

Considering the urgency of the situation, and every one is saying, it is not a time for individualism........
I believe, such suggestion may fly !, specialy with these particular three !

                    ^ I agree w martin.
coaches like to keep their assistants coz they've worked with them and have reached a level of understanding with them.
good or bad, that is the norm.

I also agree that any coach who accepts a forced assistant isnt worth jack.

Oh, btw, I didn't see you said Ghotbi, I had read Ghalenoei first.

I think this might have been a good idea before Ghotbi became headcoach. I mean now that he was headcoach and immediately won the title, he surely sees himself as headcoach and not as assistant. And two headcoaches barely make a good coaching team in my opinion.

Same with Daei. I think Daei would have been an excellent TM assistant coach for a foreign coach or an older Iranian coach. But the moment he lead Saipa to the title, he surely wouldn't have agreed on becoming an assistant.

I'd rather have a good foreign headcoach who brings his own assistant and choses an additional Iranian assistant after meeting some proposed assistants.

In case of a domestic solution, I think I would still prefer Ghotbi, although I don't have full trust in him. Some experienced and calm sporting director on his side might be good. Hard to say who would be able to do that. Pourheydari or someone like him?

I guess, it is all wishful thinking on my part......
I agree,...coaches, as you and payman said, do not want to be dictated......
yet,if I was IFF president, and in currant situation,I would have tried this theory behind close doors...and see if they comply.

with many players dropping out due to various reasons ( from soosool-e bacheh naneh baazi to valid injuries ) I think ghotbi's work for selection of his final 23 man team is getting easier by the day !!!

today I heard ashjari is injured and wont be available for the NKorea game.

given the nature of the game as well as the nature of NKorean team which is very organized and fast, but not that skillful. also they seem to rely more on the opponents attacking them and then utilizing quick counterattacking tactics to get their goals, I think given the two points above, maybe putting PACE & SPEED as a higher priority than DEFENDING skills for our flank players.

so maybe guys like Madanchi or Hajsafi would just do for our LB post.

if the north korean fellows arent that skillful in dealing w one-on-one situations , then maybe a mediocre defending capability on the part of our players shd be enough ... as long as they can KEEP UP the pace and be a nuisance to the koreans.
