Although ,it is understandble why most countries do not care to travel to Iran,and may want to distance themseleves from Iran and its poletics....but one may ask,why IFF does not travel to other countries....
Many teams canceled thier trips to Iran, or just like Costa rica and Ghana,despite in advance money,would not take thier whole team,rather wanted to take thier bench to Iran....
There are many factors that may come to play,as far as why IFF prefers to stay at home,even though,friendlies seem to be very vital at this moment.
1- Cost ?.....it does not appear that may be the case.
2-no one is interested to play with Iran,even in thier own country ?.......again,this also may not be the case,as we saw how easyly S.Korea did so,as well as cezc republic.tunesia and coroasi have shown interest....
3-Avoiding,international attention ?.........we know,any time,TM goes some where,there is big contengency that accompanies TM, personel such as , agents from " Herasat ", agents from " Sazemane etelaat ", and even " Ghoran readers " ..etc.so that players could be controled and made to represent islamic country in a right manner.There may be a fear that some of the TM players may be encouraged by the host country to take a poletical asylem and hence damage the IR.Iran and a poletical embaresment
4-Avoiding Embaresment losses.........TM had to change its coach after an embarising loss in Italy during 1998 friendly , and Queens park 3-0 loss has left a bad taste in TM camp and IFF, such losses would be blow to TM moral and internal support by Iranian people.
What ever the reasons, the lack of preparetory friendly games is costing TM alot, and the Internal and external limitations do not seem to be changing before WC.
