to begin with I wouldnt have sent kazemian home and would have used him in the 18.

I'd have started with whatever in my signature while replacing shakouri with aghili.
ashjari with nouri.
borhani with khalatbari.---- TWO strikers
ando ( instead of nekunam ) --- 1 DM

but by second half, after seeing the display by our players, and if this formation and line up didnt change anything , I'd have subbed:

karimi at halftime with zandi
kia with kaabi, bringing haydari up and kaabi as RB

Very interesting question. My selection would have been very different from the beginning. I would have added someone like Mohammad Nouri (Mobali would have been a similar player type, but I am not a fan of his), so I could have a second holding midfielder who is not so strong in defense but much more creative. I think such a player is worth a lot, but none of the OMs in the current squad can do that. I would have put Mohammad instead of Pejman then.

With Ashjari injured there aren't many choices for that spot, so I might also have gone for Nosrati, who at least is defensively reliable.

But I would also have preferred Nosrati in centreback instead of Aghili, because he is speedier and not making so much false passes. In that case I would have a leftback problem with Ghotbi's selection. I might have even used the much bashed Sattar Zare, who at least has experience in that post. But also players like Jalal Akbari or Javad Shirzad would be ineteresting, but I would need to see them in action more often to make a judgement.

I also would have started with Khalatbari instead of Karimi, to bring Karimi as second half sub.

If the game went similarily to what we saw today, I would have brought on Madanchi as real leftwinger for Kia and put Khalatbari on the right side shortly after halftime. Later I would have brought on Karimi for Shojaei, around minute 65 or 70.

I also would have put Khalili and Borhani on the bench, because if I wanted to bring on a second real striker in case we concede a goal, I think Khalili would be too similar too Hash and Borhani would be the better striking partner for both Hash and Khalili.

I think that would have been the major issues I would have adressed differently than Ghotbi. Probably would have resulted in a major thrashing .

na agha jan, my question was with the 27 names he took to korea/china what would you have done.
neither M. nouri nor akbari or zareh were there.

I'm saying ghotbi given the 27 players a his disposal STILL HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO GET IT RIGHT.
but he lost his guts and went for the conservative approach.... when we couldnt afford to be conservative!

DD jan, I dont know what I would have done, but below are what Mr. Ghotbi did, which I think were plain outragous!

He should have learnt a thing or two from Daies mistakes.

1- throw 4-2-3-1 to garbage can. This system does not work. We dont have the players to fit this formation (I seriously want to see how much longer, and how many other coaches are going to test this formation with TM... this is becoming a joke... just because a system is modern and Amme joone man is using it in Holland or Deuchebagland in Europe it doesnt mean its going to work in Iran. The only sole reason why it worked under Branko was because of Daie and younger Karimi and Mahdavikia. We dont have the manpower for this retarded formation, BABA JAN HOW HARD IS IT TO UNDERSTAND!

2- Shojaee as LW!!!

3- P. Nouri as DM!!!

4- Nosrati as left back, are you freakin kidding me (when was the last time any of us saw this kid in a competative match???) !!!

5- Khalili subbing for Hashemian???!!!

6- Khalatbari coming in in 80+ minutes

Overall, he lost the 2nd half, which is coaches half and he keeps repeating the same freaking mistakes as Daei, and after couple of months with these kids and numerous training camps he and his two venerable dutch assisstant coaches cant figure out players positions???!!! what the f*** is going on I simply dont understand. To tell you the truth, I dont even see him succeeding even if he is given more time.... pppptttthhhhhh

I was just talking to my friend here from Saudi Arabia, he was saying he is surprised Iran has been getting such poor results considering you have so many good players including those playing in Germany and Spain.

He said KSA will surely beat NK at home and that will be no problem. He said if they can get at least a tie in Seoul then they will clinch the 2nd direct qualifying spot. He spoke with some good level of confidence about this.
