Iran vs UAE ...a performance one needs to forget.

In the match against North Korea, specially the first half an hour , Team Melli provided some hope. In fact I dare to say that they played some solid football. After that short period of time, it has been all downhill. UAE match , was one to forget.

For a team that is fighting for survival in a series of three of the most crucial matches in its history, the team lacked skills , discipline , guts and tactics.
UAE , clearly the worst team of the World Cup qualification with one point only (and that was gained against Iran) had 5 of their top players missing , but Team Melli at full strength with the return of Nekounam , miserably failed to impress and at times they were truly embarrassing when less than brilliant Arabs started threatening Rahmati’s goal.

It eventually took a moment of brilliance by an aging and vividly arduous Ali Karimi to win the match. I suppose we have to pray for a similar occurrence in a week's time while facing Korea Republic in the penultimate match.

I can't remember Team Melli being so erratic so full of errors and so bad for a loooong time.

    God help us.

I think it was the same shit we've seen by TM over years.

Like under Branko, we now again seem at least defensively stable. Upfront we, as usual, have to rely on individual brilliance or setpieces.

We better learn to live with that.

With an error prone Aghili playing centre back I don't think you can ever have true defensive stability.

Actually.................I am not even sure of the defenders either.

Aghili is a laibility , Hosseni is not much better either .....KAebi Hmmmmmmm. The only one that you can rely on is Seyed Mehdi.

Well, defensive stability fortunately is not only based on the defenders. The whole team defended well. I think Ando's addition improves the defensive stability a lot, especially compared to Bagheri.

The consequence of "result oriented" fans and political soccer, we had to fire a rookie coach (Daei) who made a mistake and didn't invite the fans' darling (Karimi), and lost the same game (KSA).

Now, we end up to start over with another rookie coach (Ghotbi) who wants to play safe and bring all grandpas and make a static team.

One should thank Kia and Hashemian services and shake their hands goodbye.

Anyway, I doubt we can beat S.Korea with this team even we are given double more time with 3 extra players like the ones we saw today.

Lesson learnt from this WCQ campaign is to get rid of your useless old and out of shape players, and instead use younger motivated more inform players.
For next week Heydari-Khalatbari-Zandi are a must.
Kia-Hash should just retire from TM, or Ghotbi should have the guts not to play them!

Whats wrong with a 1-0 win vs a mighty UAE side Maij??

Your own words taken from the thread: http://www.persianfootball.com/forum...t=61943&page=3

So according to Maij 1 year ago we should be happy to beat UAE at any cost.

According to Maij today, a 1-0 victory vs UAE is not enough.

                Which one is it?

It was the performance that was depressing not the result!
Even if we beat UAE 3-0 yesterday, it doesnt change the fact that we had no plans, our players looked unmotivated, tired, clueless, and for gods sake this was the match they should be pumped to win for get to WC!?
Plus dont forget UAE played without 5 key players and they had nothing to play for, they were already bottom of the group with 0 hope, as He said, they were crapiest team in WCQ, and to see TM not able to string a meaningful attack and proper chance in 45 minutes is sad.

Well , I am so glad you asked.

If you have noticed KasraKhan , the world is Dynamic place and events change on regular basis . People change, they grow older (and hopefully wiser). What was right and acceptable a year ago is NOT NECESSARILY, acceptable this year or for the rest of life.

In football, this is even more evident than many other events and activities. In 1997 we beat Maldives 17-0 to register a World Record, if we play them right now, I will be quite happy with a 2-0 result. Why? because things change, standards improve, expectations differ & circumstances vary

At the time I was talking about UAE team , I was referring to a team that has won the Persian Gulf Cup defeating the likes of Iraq , the current Asian Cup title holder , and Saudi Arabia not to mention the others...that in no small feat my friend.

Today , this UAE team is a shadow of what it was a year or so ago and has declined remarkably. Worst than that is our own team’s spiral dive . Besides , I really gave Team Melli the benefit of the doubt in the hope that they will improve and hit the form at the right time. It is NOT too unusual for teams to improve or decline in a period of time.

However, despite my bias , passion and wishful thinking I am neither blind nor daft to fail to observe the continuous dismal performances on the field and all these events outside it resulting in series of poor performances , which I have not witnessed from TM in a long time. I cannot continue to CLAIM that everything is OK and we are in our way to conquer the World!!!

I believe it is called “Reality Check”
So, excuse me for not being a static statue who thinks that his word or ideas should remain the same as long as he lives. I don’t change my mind on hourly basis though , just in case you have fears !
And do not be too surprised to see people change their minds, taste, likings and even their allegiance.

I think struggling to score just one goal ( that too off individual brilliance not team tactics ) against uae's C team DOES warrant our indignation and protests

this uae certainly is miles away from the one that tortured us and almost came off with 4-1 win in uae.

Well, I don't know about you Hadi Jan , but the first half an hour of the match in Pyongyang was a delight for me...I really thought that we have a winner team and it is only a matter of time to see the boyz hit the back of the net.......of course , it was ll in vain !

But frankly , I can't remember a performance that I would say I was thrilled with , for a long time. You are quite right there.
