Everyone here has high expectation, at least most of us do, it's not our fault, it's our beloved team melli, TM that most of us have grown up with, cry after its losses and smiled and jumped up and down after its victories, however, I also know that deep down each of us has his or her own "realistic expectation" that is more logical rather than..., however each of us define that term, whether they think team melli will achieve more than expected, or whether they think we will rap-up the world cup as a team that simply participated and went back home,,,
let's see what the general view of the board is and what are the expectations,,,,not what you want, thinking with head instead of your heart

i really meant a respectful performance 186forever, which again could be viewed differently by different people.
I personally think that will be the case, but advancing is not near what I can imagine.

186forever jan I hope that is the LEAST we get out of this world cup that we have waited 8 years for...we both have, everyone else has, I however picked option 3!

If we play to our full potential, i think we can go very far in the the world cup. Talent wise, we are one of the top teams. If south Korea and Turkey can go as far as they did, why cant we?

well for one, they were both talented teams, I agree we are too,
but their preparation to the WC in 2002 was much more planned out and better than ours and their players I think has a more professional attitude then our palyers I say,., not to mention Korea was the host and got lucky with referee decisions through out the tournament.

Well, Korea practiced together as a club for 9 months and played many TOP world teams. They also had home support and cheated Spain.

Turkey had a good team and very easy matches comparitively.

what I "want" is , NOW, very different from what will eventually play out.

I would love to see at least one round's advancement.

but with this inferior coach and this incompetent staff, and this horrible preparation and this abysmal style of football, and this miserable persistence of mistakes and shortcomings, .... I dont see much hope !

We really can't expect much considering our many problems.

But it's football and anything can happen. When you have Karimi, Kia and VH and some extra Gheiraty players, then things can happen unexpectedly.

We will as we have before, depend on the specific individuals of our TM players to make things happen for us.

In a realistic sense I can not expect us to do much. I just hope that Mexico comes in over confidant and we make a respectable game against Portugal and Angola is as bad as some say.

All i want out the World Cup is for Iran to be respected as a Footballing Nation.

The expected results for me without a doubt is that Iran will lose to Mexico and Portugal and beat Angola. Lets face it both Mexico and Portugal are much better than Iran on paper. Having said that I think iran can get a draw against both these teams especially Mexico since this wil be the fist game and so neither team will go out too hard.

Iran will probably not go to the second round and i don't really mind that since they are not expected to. This is only their second WC in recent times while Korea has been going to the WC seven times in a row. So we cannot compare Iran with Korea. Iran will need to play in more WCs before having the experience needed to advance. Maybe they can do it next WC (2010). This WC should be a launching pad for that WC.

I may have a unusual prediction.....I think, we will tie with Angola, and we also tie with either potugal or mexico,and lose the other game...and will end up with 2 points.............
