Group A
A1 Qatar
A2 Kuwait
A3 China
A4 Uzbekistan
..................
Group B
B1 Saudi
B2 japan
B3 Jordan
B4 Syria
..............
Group C
C1 Korea Rep
C2 India
C3 Australia
C4 Bahrain
..............
Group D
D1 Iraq
D2 North Korea
D3 UAE
D4 Iran
.......................................
We have four types of groups ,
Type A = A group of four equaly mediocre powers !
( it is very unpredictable ,and highly risky)
Type B = A group with two superiors,and two mediocres !
( It is easy for the two better teams, and very predictable )
Type C = A group with three superiors, and one very weak!
( he who does not get the three points ,and score the most against the weak team will be out along with them )
Type D = A group with three superiors,and one mediocre !
( Also the team who does not get three points out of the weakest team will be out along with it )
..............................
..............................
..............................
TM will do just fine... ( despite what Nekonam said )we are better equiped against North korea, while North Korea will beat others and take away points from them for us.....they indirectly will help us advance along with them.

i still hope for a surprise finals showdown
our football will be desperetley triyng to show to the football world that iran is
still a super power in asia and who knows, anything could happen in football.
i just hope ghotbi changes his starting formation with DM's and a lone striker,
its soo boring and depressing to watch.Humanity. Love. Earth.

Anyway, till the only news coming from Iran is from geologists who are trying to prevent earthquake and promoting boobquake in the world, I doubt our managers are the right people to bring this sport forward.
Don't make a big wish, it may blow back to your face.
Cheers

Another note:
If I were someone in Iran, I would bring a woman as the head of IFF, and ask her to choose half of her managers from women. I gave only 20% of the capacity of the stadiom to the single men attending and the rest would go the families. I would put a salary cap for the players and tied their salary to the club's benefites and I would put a cap for the coach replacements in the club (some thing like 2 coaches every 4 years). And, I was giving them a road map to be private within 7 years from now.
Then I was sitting back and enjoy real soccer, not this corrupted show.

I totally agree with the "no real contest" bit.
so is it safe to say advancing for saudi and japan from this group is by no means a big deal, no matter how we look at it?
things falling into place?
reminds you of another "no real contest" and "walk in the park" situation that some friends desperately tried to make it look like a contest?

It's a different situation than a qualifying round in many aspects if that's what you're up to. We would also advance from that group, probably drawing the top team, beating Syria and maybe beat but at least draw Jordan and advance as second placed team, similarily to our 2004 group stage results.
It's still a contest for Saudis, but they are traditionally more consistent against minors than we are, so I think they will prevail. Iranian teams tend to lose points against the weakest teams regulary.
We will also prevail from our group. I think with 5 points as well.

first it was "no contest".
now, "it's still a contest for saudis" ???
basseh digeh.
kharab kardi, dadash
you walked right into it
it IS indeed a "no contest" situation for the two strong teams paired with 2 mediocre ones.
just as it was then, in 2005. but some of you blew it up as if branko's done "shagh-ol-ghamar" and has broken a ghoul's dick or something!!! LOL
50% chance of advancing, against 2 mediocre teams IS ...( let me quote you) "NO REAL CONTEST"

Are you talking about WCQ 2005? Iran was paired with Japan, Bahrain and DPR Korea and qualified. Basically as group winner before Japan won a meaningless clash of the B teams in the final game. But anyway, you don't want to imply Bahrain and DPR Korea would equal Jordan and Syria?! What the hell are you smoking over there in Latveria...?

One loss, one win and one tie...is not unlikely....and that means elimination.
will that going to be the fault of Afshin Ghotbi ?
anyway who cares, Kafashian and the IFF will stay as usual, Ghotbi will leave and some other clown will take over his place.... maybe our good old friend and fireman Mayeli KohanTEAM MELLI UNTIL THE END
