EZ's Zob Ahan far superior to Luka's Sepahan

another isfahani team reached the finals of the ACL. but Luka's team reached it by playing ugly , ultra-defensive and at times, negative football, which got them to kill off the game by reaching the tie breaks and penalties!
the strength of the opposition faced by sepahan was also nowhere near Zob's this year.

Zob Ahan, on the other hand, has faced some of the best clubs, highly attacking teams and some of the most famous stars and coaches in asia. not to mention the defending champions.

they got grouped into a group of death with saudi giants alittihad and uzbek's star-studded team led by one of the world's best coaches, Scolari. and they came up trumps over both these teams.
literally destroying scolari's team 3-0 and 1-0 (away).

then after convincingly DEFEATING Mes, they DEFEATED the defending champions ( and didnt need to play negative to reach the tie breaks) and now, they DEFEATED one of asia's best attacking teams both home and AWAY.

this team is simply INCOMPARABLE to that sepahan who reached the finals ... as we say "napel'owni" (Napoleon-like)

all this with a team that has almost NO STARS in it, but players that play for each other.

    to Ebrahimzadeh and his team

I disagree, you may win a single game with luck and ultra defensive tactics but you cannot reach the finals of a long and difficult tournament such as ACL with those factors.

It is a fact that our football is running behind counties like Japan and Korea. Against more powerful teams you have no choice but to play defensively, that is what TM and Zob did against Korean teams and Sepahan did against the Japanese teams in 2007. Sepahan were lucky to beat Kawasaki in the quarted final but they were not lucky enough to beat Urawa in the final.

About time-wasting tactics, Sepahan adopted those tactics against the Japanese clubs the same way as TM did in Korea and Zob did against Al-Hilal and the Korean club. Gordan's goal kicks are good examples.

About the power of the opponents, I agree that Zob had to play more difficult games. But it was more like Zob were actually too unlucky with the draw rather than Sepahan were lucky with it. Zob were drawn in the group of death and then had to play tough games against the defending champions and Al-Hilal. Sepahan rout in 2007 was not as difficult as Zob but it was not as easy rout at all either. They beat Saudi's Al-Shabab (this years semi-finalists) home and away. They were also grouped with UAE's Al-Ain who were a tough team those years and reached the ACL final twice between 2003 and 2006 winning the championship once. Another team Sepahan eliminated was the Japanese side Kawasaki.

About the star players, Sepahan did not have a squad as good as the recent years at 2007. In fact the only TM player in Sepahan squad at that year was Navidkia. Hajsafi and Aghili were other good players of the team but Hajsafi was too young and Aghili was not famous. Non of them played in TM at that year. The other Sepahan players were Seyedsalehi, Zadmahmoud, Bahadorani, Mahmoud Karimi, Loveinian, Akbari, Abolheil, etc.

^ 1- name for name, sepahan had more famous stars (emad ridha, navidkia, karimi, aghili, luka [a foreign coach], .... ) than Zob

2- sepahan, if I recall properly (someone correct me if I'm mistaken), got through the quarterfinals and semifinals through :
a- away goal scored (semifinal ?)
b- tie breaks (quarter final ? or wa it pre-quarters ?)
they advanced, but didnt WIN like Zob did.
Zob defeated pohang 2-1 in iran, and also two 1-0's of alhilal and 1-0 of Mes

3- and adding the strength of the opposition to the above, only serves to underline the topic

^ In the group stage Sepahan won the group with 13 points, 3 points clear of the second team Saudi's Al-Shabab.

QF: they beat Kawasaki through penalties.

SF: they beat UAE's Al Wahda 3-1 at home and 0-0 in the away game. Al-Wahda had eliminated Al-Hilal in the previous round.
