FIFA got to do something about Occenia Federation ..

It is getting a little ridiculious to see a team from Papu New Guinea representing Occenia Federation participating in FIFA World Club Championship and or New Zealand participating in Confederation Cup year after year as the champion of that Federation.

May be it is not such a bad idea if FIFA considers consolidating Occenia in Asian federtaion or even break down the overall federation into number of smaller ones (at least two).

    For example;

One federation can be called East Asia and Occenia Federation consisting of major teams like Japan, the two Koreas, China, Australia, New Zealand and others. And the other Central & West Asian Federation, consisting of major teams like Uzbek, Iran and all the arabs. (sucks I know!).

Competitions can be held either at each federation level or there could even be a consolidated competitions. It will be good for the overall growth of football in the region.

    What do you think?

Make sense to me, but as usual politics get into the way. Fat cats in the so called Oceania federation probably will fight it tooth and nail under some BS like cultural issues or the so called "fairness in their veiw".
"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."

It is a great Idea !!
      It is getting unfair....
realisticaly speaking...Australia , japan and South Korea, have a FIX on selections.....and orientals, ( with up-coming China and North Korea ), are getting ahead, and improving at an alarming rate.....

For the same reason, that they only give Europe 13 spots, and not more.....Asia, also needs to be divided, so all football powers in different cultures can have representetives......
The lack of any representetives from Western Asia ( Middle east ), and Central Asia ( all Estans countries ), in the recent World cup, speaks volume !!!
      1- Central/Western Asian Football Association ( CWAFA )
2- Eastern Asia/Occenia/South passific islanders Football Associations (EAOSPFA ).

And each with 3 spots for the world cup.......
Culturaly speaking, they are very different any way...and as far, population share...they are about equal with China and India in different associations.

no I think AFC should stay and all AFC members(who are Islands in Pacific Ocean) go to Oceania:

        1)Australia
        2)Indonesia
        3)East Timor
        4)Taiwan(Chinese Taipei)
        5)Philippines
        6)Japan
        7)Guam
        8)Northern Mariana Islands
        9)Malaysia(partly composed of Islands)
        10)Singapore
        11)Brunei-Darusalam

Then the confederation can be called Pacific Football Confederation and be allowed 1 member to qualify for World Cup, Confederation Cup and World Club Cup. The rivalry will be between Australia, Japan and New Zealand. While likes of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Taiwan will also make their qualification games interesting.

Oh once this happens: Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Cyprus can join the AFC if they wish. Then AFC headquarters can be moved to either Seoul or Tehran, what do you think?

          great idea kavian.

if they combine whole of asia with oceania, then you might get fixtures like jordan (on one end of the continent) going to new guinea (the other end of it) for a game ... which is 1000's of miles & a whole day or more away!!!
it's hardly like europe where everything is within half an hour or an hour of each other.

so maybe dividing the east + oceania and west + central asia is the way to go.

and ali, there are no "fat cats" in oceania when their most prosperous nation is new zealand!
it's just that fifa hasnt bothered to look at this issue becoz nobody has brought it up.

Being a fat cat doesn't mean your country needs to be prosperous. One of the guys who was removed from the FIFA executive committee due to bribery for WC 2018 and 2022 was Oceania rep. Other one was from Africa.

UN and NGO type organizations are full of technocrats who aren't from rich countries but have high ranking positions. This post isn't to dish UN or FIFA, but beleive me there are a lot of technocrats in FIFA who get paid well and have luxury life. I happen to know one guy personally. He is Iranian, lived in Canada but had a low ranking position in FIFA and constantly was travelling all over the world on FIFA expenses.
