Omid Namazi to take a coaching job in Esteel Azin

With Khakpoor taking the helm of the Esteel Azin, it seems Omid Nemazi is going to Tehran to take a coaching job in Esteel Azin.

    Coaching Career

Omid Nemazi is a well known figure in the united stats coaching circles. He started his coachign career in 1999 in Philadelphia. His team came second that year (he took over after a fired coach). He eventually won the MSIL in 2002. Subseqently he left Philadelphia to coach the first San Diego Women team in the first WUSA (San Diego Spirits) and took them to Semi finals. After WUSA collapse Mr. Namazi had a stunt with returning to play, coaching teams in Clevland, St Louis. In 2007 he coached a team in the indoor soccer league in Jersey Ironman I think the name was). His last coaching job was the head coach of the Chicago Women soccer team in the WPS (Chicago Red Star).

Connections with Coaching job in Iran

Ali Daie at one point was trying to lure him to Iran to help him in PP earlier this year. At that times things fall apart, I don't know what was the reason? Money, Mr. Namazi's wife (non Iranian) objection, prospect of the head coaching job in Chicago, etc?

    Why is this important?
The importance of the news to me is an emerging trend. It seems the progress in our football will happen in a very slow pace with expatriots going back to the country. A new generation of expatriots like Ghotbi, Marzban, Namazi are coming back to the country. It seems the nirvana of our football will be if a generation of expartriots at coaching and even more importantly in sport management get high ranking positions in our football.
Mr. Namazi is a well known and knowledgable coach, I wish him all the success in Iran. He worked in professional environment and it will be a huge challenge working in the shir to shir situation in Iran (especailly considering the magnitude of the challenge). He is taking charge in a team (Esteel Azin) full of big stars at the bottom of the IPL. He probably will be a figure like youchim Lu in Germnay while Klineman was at the helm of the national team.

"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."

Ali jan, this is only the sport side of things. I know and have head many other
iranians with talent have returned or starting to head back to iran soon.

This includes university lecturers and business men etc.

If only iran got out of the hot seat soon, you would see iran turning into the most powerful nation in
the middle east. I dream of the day when iranians abroad start investing in iran after they
realize they themselves could make iran what it should be.

anyways, i dont want to ruin ur thread more than i alraedy have..

No you haven't, actually I would like you to elaborate more. Are you saying, Iranian going back to Iran due to some sort of reconstructing Iran or it is due to current recession we are in the US and rest of the world? Please elaborate.

          Aziz,

It is our culture's fault that we make them emperor, General, Sultan not these people if you ask me. People made Khomeini an Imam and before that during Pahlavi it is Khoda, Shah Mihan, Shah was before the country.

Since not many decent coaches are willing to work in Iran, I think the only way we inject new knowledge, new things to the coaching staff in Iran is by Iranian Ex-pats. So overall I see this as a positive thing.

Iranians are going back for many reasons which include:

1.the recession (cant lie), specially those who are qualified, trained, educated
            and experienced.

2.They see potential income and revenue for doing business with iran and being
the intermediate and bridge to the west.

3.they generally care and want to improve iran

4.Better job oppertunities with good and easier jobs (uni lecturers).

5.There is a huge wave of young iranians that were sent to places like the
UK to have the best education and bring it back to iran, some of my friends
are finishing, have finished their PHDs and one has already returned to iran.

6.iran is a developing country and in some fields it has caugh the eyes of
investors. Like the company I work for, it is one of the biggest in the industry
(email marketing), one of the founders of our UK office told me that they would
have an Iran branch if things changed regarding Iran etc.

people have noticed iran's potentials, some have started investments, some
are waiting for the right moment and see when the west gives up its final
push to squeez and sufficate iran while it can, so far so good but to be fair
iran has to work hard to step up as they have plenty of holes to cover still.

they are improving in every field though, just not football

Thanks for sharing. It is interesting how life in Europe is different from US. I was trying to get into talking this American company to sell civilian stuff to Iran and had no luck whatsoever (due to sanctions).

i would be fooling myself if i would say that you dont get such companies
                in the UK and europe.

But you would be surprised with the number of under cover contracts also.

As i said, I am waiting for the day they declare peace and ease off the
                hostility with the iranians.

Steel Azin was just kicked out of the Hazfi Cup's quarter finals, losing 2-0 to Foolad Khuzestan (game played in Tehran.) Ali Parving said in an interview if he could turn the clock back he would have refused to take the job with SA.

Mr. Nemazi hasn't got to Iran yet. And even if he gets there, it will be a while before we see the impact of Khakpoor and Nemazi's influence (good or bad) on Esteel Azin.
