.... and if things get reaallllyyy desperate, me and martin can always start a thread on the pros and cons of the crappy 4-2-3-1 and the practical 4-4-2.

..... just as an emergency measure. the sort that you put a sticker on, reading "break in case of emergency".

      I don't have a practical solution.

As for the problem I think it is multi faceted:

I think what we see is a reflection of what we see in the media as well. Fragmentation of audience for the media. Even the giants like ABC, NBC, CBS are loosing audience to cable stations who are more focused. When in Iran for PP and SS game only 10k and below show up, you can see general football fever is going down and it reflects it here.
With FB, Tweeter, second-life, etc. etc. the forum based technology is somewhat older. People can chat and video chat in real time on those media, whereas here, one needs to post and wait for a reply. Text is one way communication, most of the times, you write a long post (but either due to lack of our penmanship and English being the second language, or lack of tradition of dialog amongst we Iranians), the reply post is totally not relevant or about what you typed in the first place ( I am sure I myself am as guilty of this as well, so this isn't a cheap shot at anyone).

It is easier to talk about the news rather than analyze it and get into arguments and counter arguments (hence main forum is an easier place). Specially considering that after many years in this forum everyone pretty much knows other F+ member approach, style, attitude, positions likes and dislike.

Recent political events in Iran and middle East in general brought much more important issues for anyone from Iran or middle East to forefront compared to football.

Recent disappointing result with our footballing teams.

We have discussed the issues and we know how everyone thinks, so what is the point of opening a thread about it. Take for example Daie issue, we all know how each member in this forum stand is, so what is the point of repeating the arguments. Ghotbi, GN, etc. etc.

I am sure I can think of some more, but got to get back to work.

In conclusion, it is the reality of the day. It can be said, this is a defeatist attitude, but maybe it is the reality. Simply there are many many more other things out there to grab people's attention. To further exacerbate the situation there is a fatigue factor with state of footballing affairs in Iran despite the recent improvements.

If there was a way, that we could keep the discussion on the topic of the thread, It would have been much more motivating to post. Take any thread, for example that thread about Mazloomi not playing with an offensive line up against Alssad (who btw tops the group now), gist of the issue was playing with 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 is an offensive line up compared to 4-5-1 or 3-6-1, but we went all over the place and the initial issue was kind of lost. All of us I think need to try to stay on topic and if we come to agree to disagree so be it rather than drag the thread to other issues.

Having said that without apple shinning or typical Irooni Taarof, I applaud Agha Majid for opening this thread and discussing it. This is an example of pro active approach to life, which many of us (truly yours included) don't practice all the time. I am sure this was on everyone's mind but none of us opened this thread and talked about it.

"When I see the good in you, you get motivated, feel good about yourself and that creates synergy. It creates an environment where everybody can work better together. I think in the Iranian culture it becomes very ordinary to always see the bad in each other."

When age difference plays a role and (counter)arguments are based on the age of someone (not only here but in the football section too) the "young" people wouldn't be al that motivated to post. And what makes it even worse/sad is that some posters (not only here but in the football section too) think that because they are older their knowledge and understanding of football is better too.

But what also plays a major factor, is the "ganging up" thing. It happens every day and in every thread in the football forum and it happens time to time here too (one can't help to notice the Dr. Doom vs the usuall gang post going back and forth).

But let TM play a couple of game, and a couple of scandals here and there, and we'll be back in business (since club football, even AC, doesn't seem to interest most of the members that much. As soon as a farangi, not asian, team isn't involved on the club level you won't hear so much).

WOW....we have a grand total of 5 votes. ( is that a record by any chance ?)

Nevertheless , we have some very good inputs that I like to respond and interact with.

          K. Nader ....Agha Jan , as a staff of PFDC , you are automatically a member of this forum , hence you managed to post ( unless someone has changed the rules recently!!). Let me tell you that I liked what you said very much. I personally like to see you in an active role in this forum. I'm positive that you will add value.

Keano Jan...I agree 100% on adding new members and who better than Kaiser Amir.

like Paradigm , I also want to know how many F+ members we have. I think we need to have a closer look at some members who barely participate in this forum. I guess we need to either exclude them or replace them with newer members. Some of the old member have gone missing for years.

There is some kind of a mechanism on checking activity of a member. I was a member of TV satellite forum some time ago , but I only posted a few. After some long absence I returned to that site to discover that my privileges were withdrawn due to inactivity. I guess Kamran will know about such thing.

Peyman jan , I had the same idea long time ago about Team Melli activity versus my interest in posting. But I found out that without Really following club football , there is no way to keep oneself updated with the players and their level of skills and style. After all the clubs are the nucleus of Team Melli and their activity should be followed in parallel.

Bahram brought up the age difference which brought a comment from Babak. Age makes a hell of difference on everything , but it certainly does not mean that a 50 yrs old knows much more about football than a 20 yrs. The qualifiers here is how much football he has been watching and for how long he has been following it.

The other trend I have noticed ( not really on this forum ) is that some youngsters believe they know more about football than Mourinho , Wenger and Ferguson all put together. Many also assume that since they live in the west , their IQ and knowledge is higher than the ones at homeland !!

We certainly cannot generalize though. There are a few late teen posters who are a delight to read and their logic and writing is better than many older members. In any case , I agree that senior members should not intimidate the younger ones (unless they are bullies and need a slap on the hand )

^ ahhhh I'm sorry did I bully people here without even noticing it :P

And no leaving in the west didn't make me think that I'm smart, my Mensa membership did

But seriously and all the kiddin' aside: even the (general) football forum is "quite", well compared to the times that 10 new threads are created every 5 min.

We just need TM to start playing again, or have Iranian players play in Europe. Then the posting will start again. At least that way more people have access to a stream/live link to watch the game since GLWIZ isn't an option anymore.

Beside I think the fact that people get jumped on, and I must say I'd like to see the forum staff "punish/warn" a bit tougher in these cases, makes their contribution limited. Not only DD gets picked on once in a while, but I see that Neda/Ala is insulted almost in every post. They guy is contributing in his way, how one sided it may be, if people don't like it they shouldn't read his post let alone have the option to call him names and all.

The same goes for other people who have a deviating/strong ideas.........

Pretty much. There's not much to discuss at the moment, other than the ACL.
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.
