Omid Namazi

I found Omid Namazi's case to be very interesting.......
He is everything Afshin Ghotbi was not !!.....as it is indeed very hard to get your feet inside Iranian football for an outsider..............
It is very interesting very few people even knew of his existance in football circles.....and we here on PFDC never heard about him.......
Aside from his imppresive football back ground....(
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omid_Namazi)......he seem to have had a very humble approach to his advancement......unlike Ghotbi,with his pretend....he never had inside connection,and just started working with his chilhood frienship with low level coach in IRAN ( khakpour )...and tried to find his way to Iranian football by hard work.....

Another point worth mentioning,is the slow but steady contribution of Iranian Outsiders to Iranian football........likes of Afazelli,Ghotbi,and now Namazi.

From what I know of him, he is a very clean person. Follows a system and not a media person (not like Ali Daie of course), but not as media savvy as Ghotbi was.

Iranian Outsiders to Iranian football........likes of Afazelli,Ghotbi,and now Namazi.

So Afazeli also used to live abroad? if yes, where?

I don't know much about Mr. Namazi's background, however one positive note in direct connection between the coaching staff is avoiding the language barrier which has often been an issue in Iran where interpreters make translation errors, thus causing unnecessary trouble and drama.

Mr. Nemazi had a close relationship with Dan Gasper. This is how he got close to the Coaching staff of the TM.

In his biography, he actualy was named as the United states coach of the year ...which is indeed a very big deal.......
But the poor guy, never had Ghotbi's ambition.....or his resume building techniques.

Interestingly though , Namazi was the subject of criticism by Ferdowipour on Navad last night simply because of his lack of experience and CV in football. Of course , I am not advocating that Adel is right , but it is always intriguing how people suddenly jump up to high coaching position in Iran with so little credentials. Mohammad who failed miserably with the Now javanan team and now he is been given another shot as coach of Javanan is a good example.

Adel loves controversy. If he was in Spain when Pep Guardiula took over Barca, I can imagine what Adel would have done?

Nemazi was a head coach here with several teams. In Iran they made a lot of deal about his playing days in Metrostars. Furthermore, in Iran he will be an assistant basically to put an Iranian face on the coaching staff, decisions will be made by CQ and Gapser probably.
Nemazi worked with Gapser before and that is how he got here. Gasper I think has half/full Portuguese ancestory and that is how he got connected with CQ when he was in US long time ago. You see the trend Majid Jaan.

I had a chance to interview Namazi few years ago On Tapesh post game show. He sounded very knowledgable and has had actual coaching experience in US for some time. He didn't try to sell himself at any point but to discuss football.

Any how, assistants should be chosen by the head coaches as they have certain criteria they are concerned about. So, no judgement on his selection but we should wait and see on his effect. As a minimum, his football knowledge and his Farsi and English language would be an excellent bridge between players and coaching team. No need for non-football translator as some matter often gets lost in translation ...

Perhaps he does , but you've got to give it to him...he DOES his homework , he is meticulous and resourceful . He is very famous for that in Iran.

Thanks for that Ali Jan. As I said , I had no knowledge of him before. I think the communication and the language is an important factor and as it happens , Namazi's English and Farsi are perfect.

There is always a downside to that as well....When the translator who happens to be a football coach as well , sometimes interpret his own ideas instead of the coach. I have seen it happen.
