Potential lifetime ban for Bin Hammam

    http://www.persianfootball.com/live/...ons&Itemid=176

Could be a huge day for Asian football today. I have little doubts about him being corrupt. Unforgiveable how he lobbies for the likes of Saudi and Bahrain and cost us WC 2010 with totally biased schedule (not to talk about earlier shameful acts). So I'd definitely cheer if he gets banned, however, being realistic I am not sure if his possible successor would be better.

I dont think his successor will be better either... but getting one corrupt man out of the way is better than nothing!

I also truly wish FIFA makes a serious investigation in Qatar 2022 WC bid...

Fifa themselves have been corrupt for a long time now, ever since Blatter took over. They have shown over and over that anything can be bought for the right price without being caught so unless Bin Hammal has stepped on the wrong toes, or hasn't payed the right amount/person I wouldn't put much hope into it.

as long as iran doesnt have a strong lobby in AFC, it doesnt matter who becomes the next president of AFC. our divar will always be kootah. its how the world works, its how every organization in this world works.

          Exactly!
We have nothing to gain from Bin Hammam's departure.

^well if a non arab would replace him, then it already would be a (however small) plus for Iran any way.

I rather have a Japanese, S. Korean or Australian heading AFC (in that order...)

Khak bar sareh Iran, we should have been ruling the AFC instead of these corrupt people.

Overall this is a sad day for Asia courtesy of Mr. Bin Hamman.

Next one will be "ben-baghal" or "ben-sabziforosh".

mmmm, he may change his ID and come back with "dallaak" name.

                Cheers,

The S. Korean and Japanese execs already are very biased as well.
Its why we have a messed up ACL schedule. Its why for years AFC would refuse to line up with FIFA schedule. They're just as bad.
                  We're screwed either way.

                    Very true.

When Iran's FF does not have competent people to challenge for the seats in the various committees of AFC , when they have suspect relations with others , when their representatives speak poor English and when their translator is at the level of fifth grade English language student , when ther head of IFFF is so pathetic , then you can't accuse others for NOT caring for Iran's interest...... Do your own work , instead of begging others for help.

Now...let's see.....Hmmmmm which nationality will best serve Iran's interest as head of AFC ?

                    1- Bahrain
                    2- Maldives
                    3-Oman
                    4- Saudi Arabia
5- Japan ....yes yes yess..Japan good , Saudi No good

^ I suggest you watch a couple of documentaries (BBC has some high quality ones, Dutch tv too if you want to learn Dutch) where they provide more than enough evidence to prove that FIFA is corrupt, before saying that.

There are many discussions, even on high political level, in countries such as Holland, UK, USA, etc to stand up against/leave FIFA due to their corruption.

One of the reasons why there was such a heated opposition from the Dutch public as well as government, towards the Dutch WC bid was due to the corruption of FIFA.

Except for the facts that, organizing a WC will cost alot of money (which is paid by the tax payers of the host country), all the direct proceedings will go to FIFA without paying 1 cent of taxes to the hosting countries, the hosting country has to accept certain demands by FIFA which in turns means that the country has to changed their laws and regulation during the tournament.

Seriously, there's enough high quality material out there which you should give a go

I am not sure which BBC documentary you are referring to but I have seen a very good one made by Panorama program specifically focusing on Blatter and Bin Hammam relationship. This is about 3 or more years old.

The whole focus of the program was on the close alliance between these two and how they influenced many others towards their camp. Fortunately or unfortunately , there was NOTHING in that documentary to incriminate either and hence there was no action by anyone. It is the right of any individuals to garner support or voting provided it is within the letter of the law.

It is easy to accuse people or organization with corruption and what have you, the onus is on proof by evidence as in Bin Hammam's case. Now, the fact that this individual and others like him are corrupt does not in any way indicate institutional corruption. FIFA is a democratically elected body by association members. It is NOT the government of Bahrain where the king appoints his sons and cousins in every important position for the interest of the family!.

And FIFA being such a powerful entity, it has such tight laws and internal regulation including anti-corruption and anti-fraud measures , it is very difficult to get away with murder. All that is needed is just a slip and you have the wrath of American lawyers drop on the footsteps of FIFA in Zurich like a bomb , and libel suits for hundreds of millions in American courts.

I said that FIFA as an organization is not corrupt , but that does not mean that people associated with it will not use their influence , acquaintances and relationship to get commercial advantage or make money.

I have found that at a personal experience level.

It happened a few years back while doing a football documentary in a country in the Persian Gulf. While we were shooting a scene of the Australian team during their training session , a European man came rushing and told our Cameraman to stop filming and ordered him to leave the stadium at once. I talked to this guy and quietly told him , who the F*** are you ? ...It was along story. The point was that this man was an Ex-FIFA employee in Zurich. He resigned and established a media company. He would buy the broadcast rights of any match , especially in this part of the world , and re-sell it to the likes of Al Jazeera sport for a substantial profit.

Al seems fine on the surface , but all this buying of rights in this part of the world is not done professionally or transparently, It is based on exclusivity to certain people. I think that is corruption or at least moral corruption by ex-FIFA employee.

Yeah FIFA is a democratic organization and the members are elected, just like IR is a democratic country and ahmadinejad is voted by the people to be the president.

Maji jan you couldn't be this naive as you try to make it sound........Have you seen the recent interviews by Blatter where he leaves the room when people start asking about all the scandals?

Do you even know how the "voting" goes in FIFA?

here is a dutch article (use google translate plz, it's too long and too detailed for me to translate), where the author sums up some of the evidence against fifa and blatter and how the "democracy" you speak of is governed.

                              http://www.vi.nl/Achtergronden/Colum...pp-Blatter.htm

and here is piece where the head of the Dutch football federation explains why Holland voted for Blatter (there was no other option to choose from, nice democracy huh), and hints about the corruption and "back door politics" by FiFA.

He doesn't really explain that Holland agreed to vote on Blatter so that Michael van Praag (a Dutch guy in UEFA) is promissed to replace Plattini, if Holland would vote for Blatter........

And the list, articles, documentaries, evidence etc goes on and on.......but I guess every one is entitled to their opinion despite the contradictions by reality.
