IRAN vs BAHRAIN # 2...pregame thoughts

As if Bahrain did not already hate TM enough.....after 6-0 thrashing, They must be pissed " Big Time " ,this time around in Manama ,thier capital!
CQ, is appearing to use the same team.....either because he finaly has reached the permenant roster...or he wants to use players who have experince against the same opponant....
We will defenetly close this group by a win or even a tie,and CQ can rest for a while and pay attention to his final plan for qualification to Brazil WC .
A win for us in Bahrain will end any thoughts among Bahrainies that they are in the same level as TM for a good while.

this will be the toughest match of TM i the first group stage.

I am glad for it because it really shows what CQs team is made of.

what i WANT to see from CQ is a cautious, logical and organized game. I want to see TM to be in control of the match, I want to see no defensive mistakes. I basically want to see a smart game. I do not want the 3 points or a spectacular attacking match. I want to see maturity and class.

I feel that we should be going there to get 3 points. After we beat them 6 - 0 at home, we should be able to beat them away. It's certainly within our ability.

Bahrain is a tough team to play away, as from the moment you arrive there, you will encounter problems. The border control will subject our players to unnecessary checks, the hotel will be surrounded by noisy fans, etc.

I'm really curious to see the tactical maturity of TM in this game.

I don't thing it is a tough match for Team Melli. Bahrain is at its lowest ebb for many years. It has lost some valuable players, they have an inexperienced international coach, many new faces in the line up, the country is in political turmoil with very little support for anything that the government sponsors, and this football team is a tool for their propaganda. Team Melli already has beaten Bahrain twice in a row , 3-0 in WAFF and 6-0 in Azadi , so that is a difficult psychological hurdle for Bahrain.

No...it is not a tough match , unless Team Melli players make it tough for themselves. A win is quite a natural result and should be achieved.

well, CQ says he only thinks about attacking so taking his words would mean he is going for 3 points.

Good call on kaabi recall but it might not be a good idea if he starts.

so long as we dont waste a ton of easy scoring opportunities and or shoot ourselves in the foot, then we should come out of there with 3 points..!!
i doubt if CQ would go for a very conservative/defensive approach..!! but general counter attacking form is whats in order for this match with TM pressuring the ball once it gets close to midfield..!
like Hadi said, more than anything else i wanna see us play confident & smart and show mental/tactical maturity and sticking to the game plan and coaches instructions, in a hostile away setting..!!
i dont mind having our defenders tested a bit more as well, so far, our Midfield and forward 3 have been shouldering most of the burden and i am not so sure we have the ideal back 4 and still im not sold on LB being a fixed position..!!
I really like to start adapting Mahini on the left wing/D...! we are stacked on the right but feel our options down left flank is still way too thin..!!

I'm fairly sure that our WCQs in Manama in 2005 and 2001 involved such behaviour.

It shouldn't be a tough match at all.
Bahrain is no where near TM level, we just have to keep cool heads and control the game.
It is their game to win so they will need to take chances and we have to use that to our advantage.

Hello Oldcoach, it is a pleasant surprise to see you post . When was the last time you posted here ? 1998 or something like that ?

Anyway , nice to see one of the old timers back.

I was there on both occasions, and did not hear of anything of that sort , either myself or from TM players. TM were held up once in Saudi Arabia by the airport immigrations officers , maybe that is what you are thinking of.

Anyway , unless something really weird and out of the ordinary happens , Team Melli should count of a pleasant stay in Bahrain. Most of them enjoy it here except in August when it is sweltering hot.

Dear Old Coach, are you the same Old Coach from IK? We used to have a member with the same username there!

I think at this point and ahead of Bahrain match, we all need to lay off all the conspiracy theories and just focus on the match day itself, all the side issues and drama we create for ourselves prior to this crucial match can only contribute to demoralizing TM and ourselves. I for one doubt bahrain federation this time around would cause any inconvenience, given the good hospitality of Iran in the first leg, I am sure Bahrainis will at least try to return the favor.

All in all I don't think technically we should have any problems on the pitch!
