In terms of the issues - I'm shocked at how bad we are off the ball. No support at all for the player in possession - which means we basically can't push forward, turn our backs to our opponents, then turn and kick the ball as far away (usually out) as possible. I was also pretty unimpressed with Karimi (why does he play for 90 minutes when he's clearly run out of gas?) as well as Nekounam, who nearly cost us a goal with a moronic giveaway deep in our own half.

From what I've seen, Queroz really hasn't changed much - the system/mentality stays the same as it was - go for a draw away, try to win at home. It's the same strategy that has burned us over and over again - it's just plain wrong, and had the ref put on his contacts, we would have lost today.

My heart goes out to the Uzbeks. I can only imagine what we'd be saying was it us who suffered this kind of a defeat.

CQ already said unfortunately on the road we are a very different team. Still the display was disappointing.

Sometimes I have a similar feeling like Faraz but then again ....... I resigned myself for a defeat as the match was getting close to the finish , a draw would have been a life saver , but a last minute goal for a win.......WOW.

But let us not fool ourselves. The problem is that we have seen far too much of this crappy display of amateurish football under many coaches. Regardless to who the coach is , the same ugly performance crops up more often than not.

I think I am a reasonable person as I don't expect Barcelona class football from our boyz , but for God sake , is it too much to ask for a decent performance which is a bit better than kids playing football in the neighborhood ?

I don't think a win by Uzbekistan , who really deserved to win this one hands down and who were robbed by the referee for a 100% legitimate goal , would have made much difference to the fate of this team's players , the majority of whom have already reached their peak or passed it. Although I can't put all the blames on the coach , however , CQ is culpable in this performance. He has done nothing major for TM and his initial start-up was indicative of a disturbed man who has lost his bearing.

I feel for the Uzbeks , they are one unlucky team , on the other hand , we also have been on the wrong end of many bad calls and unlucky throughout the years (especially against the Saudis) , so , I don't feel too bad about this undeserved win but I am no dreamer either. This teams has major issues and prayers and Doaa is highly recommended when watching TM from now on.

I disagree. Every World Cup in AFC, teams qualify out of their ar*e and we're on the short end of the stick despite generally playing good games. For once we got it our way and were lucky. GOOD! 3 points is 3 points.

I agree with Nokhodi and may I say, this was probably the most important game of the qualification cycle. Uzbackestan being our rival for the second place.
I don't see us beating Korea, so I wouldn't mind a draw and a loss against them, as long as we win ou next two matches.
Should we win our next two matches, which should be possible we're almost certainly qualified!

this and such f**k-ups are usually becoz of two departments and we cant put the entire blame on one side.
yes, it is the individual players who cant even trap the ball (heidari) or hit an air ball in front of the goal (nekounam) or give the wrong pass back (mahini) or the wrong exit (rahmati) or ... etc. and we cant blame the coach for these.
but when the wrong players walk onto the pitch or when the team is arranged like 4-6-0 or when low performing players remain on the pitch for extended periods of time or ... then we have nobody else to point at except the coach

also, yes, the uzbeks were unlucky. and one may feel sorry for them.
But when you put into context what they did at our lads' arrival (delaying them at the airport for 7 hours) similar to freaking arabs, then I'd say serves them right. ppl who resort to such dirty tactics deserve to get such balls shoved up their arses

I have to say I hope to see Dejagah and Ghazi back in the line up. CQ should avoid playing untested players and line ups in the important matches such as WCQ. People have been giving him too much of automatic approval, but today's episode clearly showed that criticism of the coaching staff is necessary. If we don't hold their feet to fire, they may get clumsy. In any event, Iran got very lucky today and kudos to Khalatbari who pulled a Russia on the Uzbeks.

There we go again, another emotianal Iranian... Even though they got unlucky, doesn't mean we should regret this win. Do you know how much our chances have increased to go to the WC after stealing these three points?
