    TM vs Uzbakistan

    .....
japan and South Korea, and Australia have pretty much locked up the top 3 places in Asia, for now, may be even for a long time..
Aside from these top thress,..The only team, in the last 15 years, that has consistantly improved, is Uzbakistan....and it appears,TM needs to get used to playing Uzbakistan in many future Asian contests.....
    .....
It is safe to say, that,TM 's up coming game against Uzbakistan,in Tehran, will be the ticket to,Brazil......as if we win this contest,we will be in.

Uzbakistan,in many ways,is the closest team to us...either culturaly or talent wise...yet,they seem to not have the issue,TM has to deal with....being hashieh os media, of poletical problems, or propaganda....may be that is why, they have been growing in football faster than we have in recent years....

Uzbekistan has overtaken Saudi Arabia's spot in Asia's top 5 in my opinion. Winning in Tashkent was at least an equally difficult task as beating Korea in Tehran.

The next match will be another huge challenge.

All we need is a draw really. Since they are trailing us by 2 points, they need to beat us in Azadi to surpass us. All we need is a draw. If we win, we will qualify for the WC 85%

uzbekistan is a dangerous team.... letting them attack again will be a horrible idea, Uzbekistan will be destroyed if we can score on them early and maintain pressure. If we beat the uzbeks.. we should qualify... we would have 10 points with 3 games left..... 2 of which should be wins... it is actually very possible for us to qualify as #1, but we will have to see....

Defeating Uzbekistan at home is not guarantee WC Entry.

Not all but selected possibilities ..

            Assuming
Iran, Korea, Uzbek will defeat Lebanon

There are possibilities even with defeating Uzbekistan & Lebanon , Iran end up with even 7 extra points for total of 14P but fail WC entry.

            Uzbek 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
            Lebanon 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
            iran Qatar 0 0 0 1 1 1 3 3 3
            Korea 0 1 3 0 1 3 0 1 3
            6 7 9 7 8 10 9 10 12

Uzbek can lose to Iran , but gain 9 points for total of 14 Points
In such case if their GD is better than Iran , they make it.

            Iran 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
            Lebanon 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
            Uzbek Qatar 3 3 3 1 1 1 0 0 0
            Korea 3 1 0 3 1 0 3 1 0
            9 7 6 7 5 4 6 4 3

for above scenario (Korea losing to Uzbek but defeating Iran )can make it with 16 points

            Iran 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
            Lebanon 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
            Korea Qatar 3 3 3 1 1 1 0 0 0
            Uzbek 3 1 0 3 1 0 3 1 0
            12 10 9 10 8 7 9 7 6

Situation for Iran even is worse if we tie with Uzbek at home. Even defeating Qatar in away game , or not losing to Korea may not be enough.

            Uzbek 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
            Lebanon 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
            Iran Qatar 0 0 0 1 1 1 3 3 3
            Korea 0 1 3 0 1 3 0 1 3
            4 5 7 5 6 8 7 8 10

            In above case

            Iran 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
            Lebanon 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3
            Uzbek Qatar 3 3 3 1 1 1 0 0 0
            Korea 3 1 0 3 1 0 3 1 0
            10 8 7 8 6 5 7 5 4

There are more likely to be some surprises ,It's football and a game ...

So far we are following the exact same path as WCQ 2002.
We got a full 6 points from the 2 toughest opponents (South Korea and Uzbekistan) and only got 1 from the 2 weakest teams. We basically could have qualified already had we beaten Qatar and Lebanon.

May be we should open a seperate thread for this....but, there is something very seriouse and important about ,inability of Iranians to play better against Arabs in general.....we seem to be never to take them seriously enough to give our best...or, our styles just clash, and for thier benefit.
But,there is defenetly something is going on culturaly.

I dont expect nor think that TM can get the 3 points.

But there is a chance that if we play with the same dedication, we may pull through.

3 points vs Uzbek is more or less a guarantee for us in Brazil

Here is a Copy and pase of a post, from a fellow member who is from Uzbakistan.....
                    his username is Ahmaduzbak:
                    {{
                    Assalomu Alaykum.

This match is the most important match in our group, almost like a "winner takes all" kind of deal.
First of all, in my opinion, this will be an excellent chance for us to watch a very high quality football. At least, it is not going to be a boring game, I hope.
I skimmed through all the posts here. I just wanted to let you know that Uzbekistan is playing under a new coach - Kasimov, who used to be our best player until he retired recently. A good commander in chief is a good commander in chief, but it is even better if he himself is battle-hardened, right? That is kind of commander-in-chief we have right now. We playing a totally different tactic and haven't lost since that awful match in Tashkent.
Our team's weakest point was recovering and turning the match around after conceding a goal first. We worked on this weakness on friendlies and our players are well-trained for come-back kind of wins now. I think that is a quality that comes with practice and experience.
I also think that you are a bit wrong if you think you will see the same team in Tehran that you saw in Tashkent. Almost all of our first-choice players were banned on that match, so you can be sure to see a different team in Tehran.
There might a lot of skeptics out there, but I think South Korea's position on the first place is not rock solid anymore. I also think their football is in a steep decline due generational changes going on. I won't be among the crowd caught by surprise, if Uzbekistan and Iran will take the top 2 spots in this group. It was Iran and Uzbekistan who collected more points than anyone else on the 3rd stage and Uzbekistan finished 6 points clear from Japan. I really don't think South Korea is a big deal anymore.
Last, but not the least, I want to point out that Lebanon is not just a point-giver team of the group. They took away points from Iran and Uzbekistan. I firmly believe that they can take away points from Korea and Qatar. In the 3rd stage, they lost to Korea 6:0 away, but won 2:1 at home. They are a very resilient team and Uzbekistan and Iran did not lose points to Lebanon just because they are weak.
All of this leads to one conclusion, Korea is going to have to sweat A LOT in order to qualify and they are NOT clear favorites of the group anymore.
